Speaking of the Wii I'm considering trading in my 360 for one. I'm pretty much done with the cavalcade of generic shooters and the d-bag kids who play them on Live.

BTW I'm playing good old Operation Flashpoint with a few mods.

Why does everyone want one so badly is the real question here >:

I want one because I kinda want to play the new Metroid, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and the new Mario Kart coming out next week :(

Guitar Woman Apr 25th, 2008 09:24 AM

So I was up all night playing Fallout 2!

I am pretty much the king of all awesomeland because of how instead of negotiating Vic out of the slaver's guild I just shot everyone in the building dead. :picklehat

T-Rex Apr 25th, 2008 10:33 AM

Man, Mario Kart is like the funnest thing ever. I didn't think it would be as awesome as it is. It's fun for the people playing, but also, watching four of your friends hold a small piece of plastic and pretend it's a steering wheel is the funniest thing ever. Last night we were all sitting next to each other on the couch but soon realised that it's way too easy to cheat seated that way. If your buddy overtakes you over a bridge, just bump his elbow and see if he doesn't go flying off the side. I had 12 twenty-something-year olds in my house yesterday all playing this rediculous game. Seriously good times.

oh i love to do that

did you talk to becky in the bar, she will give you a cash reward for it

Chojin Apr 25th, 2008 05:32 PM

My biggest roadblocks in fallout 2 involved my problem with murdering all the merchants ;<

executioneer Apr 25th, 2008 05:59 PM

i only ever murdered the joe pesci parody guy because he deserve it (and because he is otherwise unimportant)

fucking asshole and his swarms of child pickpockets >:

Zomboid Apr 25th, 2008 07:30 PM

I killed everyone who SASSED me. I also became a slaver, which was really fun but everyone hated me. Super sledge ftw.

Milhouse - I have mario galaxy and smash bros brawl. I also have punch out, super mario world, harvest moon, streets of rage 2, ninja gaiden, and paper mario on my virtual console. Seriously, if you make a decent offer I'll sell it to ya. I never play it anymore.

Guitar Woman Apr 25th, 2008 08:19 PM

I became a CHAMPION OF THE PEOPLE by killing all the pimps and drug dealers in Reno :<

also is it just me or are the stealth skills not used at all in this game

I was a gigantic kleptomaniac in the original but now if I want something I just find a bad person who has it and kill him :<

Zomboid Apr 25th, 2008 08:20 PM

Oh yeah, I also have link to the past on my virtual console :O

Fat_Hippo Apr 27th, 2008 04:19 PM

I've started playing Sims 2 AND LIKING IT! Help me someone!:(

MetalMilitia Apr 27th, 2008 04:54 PM

Been playing a bit of Battlefield 2 recently. It's really annoying the way most servers have vehicles disabled these days. I can't wait for a new Battlefield game to come out; Bad Company looks pretty good but it's only out on consoles. Who the fuck wants to play an FPS on consoles?
Battlefield Heroes should be a nice diversion but they really need to get cracking on a proper PC-only sequel.

WhiteRat Apr 27th, 2008 04:58 PM

I was playing Battlefield 2 on a daily basis the last couple of months.

I read somewhere that they are developing BF3. The game is supposed to feature an mmo-like character progression system.

MetalMilitia Apr 27th, 2008 05:07 PM

Yeah, there were some "leaked details" a while back for a new Battlefield game. Not sure how trustworthy they were though. My guess is they were details of Battlefield Heroes.

My perfect BF3 would have:
- Same time frame as BF2/Bad Company (modern warfare)
- Proper character development
- More unlockables (weapons, gadgets, abilities, skins, clothes)
- Better ranking system with achievements (Just rip-off CoD4's system but get rid of the cap and have more weapon-specific achievements)

T-Rex Apr 28th, 2008 08:54 AM

If there's ever a way to have a FPS battle between console and PC, I want in on it. Everyone's all, "Oooh! FPS on PC is so much better than on console." I don't believe it. I got mad analogue stick skillz & drillz.

MetalMilitia Apr 28th, 2008 09:03 AM

You can probably get away with a control pad in games like HALO and CoD4 but when you need access to more than about 6 functions you're screwed. For example in Battlefield you need stuff like the squad command menu, the squad communications menu, the general communications menu, all the weapon keys, sprint, switch kit, change fire mode, the list goes on. On a PC you can just bind them straight to the keyboard and mouse however you want. If you were to try and map them all to a controller it'd take about 30 seconds each time you wanted to switch to a different fire mode.

Which is all really irrelevant because the analogue sticks are to slow to aim with. :/

T-Rex Apr 28th, 2008 09:08 AM

Okay, I can see how a stick would be slower than a mouse. However, if the sensitivity was high enough, I think that shouldn't be a problem. Sure, a pad is limited in function so that's why I think it would be interesting to see a match between only two people. Are console players limited to hardware? It'll be fun to find out.

Guitar Woman Apr 28th, 2008 11:19 AM

I got San Andreas on my Pee Cee last night!

It's pretty much everything I've ever wanted out of a GTA title and a vast improvement over Vice City. I sorta miss the whole Scarface thing, but that game was impossible :<

Dr. Boogie Apr 28th, 2008 04:32 PM

I admit that the times when the collision on the ground wouldn't load made the game a little tricky, but it's still totally doable.

I'm trying to play Overlord, but it runs like crap, but it runs worse than Crysis on the PC.

Guitar Woman Apr 28th, 2008 05:20 PM

There were a lot of missions in that game that filled me with rage, the worst offender being the one where you had to get Lance out of the junkyard and I kept trying to use a helicoptor which would explode upon me crashing it to land because what the fuck were they thinking with the keyboard controls jesus christ

I simply cannot go any further, because now I have to carefully pilot a seaplane over the city spreading porn movie posters, and it controls like it's towing a huge african bull elephant.

T-Rex Apr 29th, 2008 03:33 AM

GTA 4, son. It's insane how much detail they put into it. I car-jacked a dude and he just held on to the door handle of the car for as long as he could. I only played it for five minutes for the novelty last night but I can already tell how friggin' sweet it'll be.

BlackHexen May 4th, 2008 04:08 PM

I'm playing Tomb Raider Anniversary while waiting for playstation 3 and Grand theft auto 4. This is pretty good game. These new controlls are awesome. I haven't before liked tombraiders, but this waked my interest. After this i gotta borrow TR 2,3 and Last revalation from my brother.

Girl Drink Drunk May 5th, 2008 11:47 AM

Doom, on Steam.

Master May 6th, 2008 08:15 AM

I'm stuck playing Zelda: Windwaker at the moment because my PS2 died a few weeks ago, and the only other game I have for the Gamecube is Crystal Chronicles, which is a huge pile of shit. Looking forward to getting a PS3 with GTA 4 though.

Fat_Hippo May 6th, 2008 09:13 AM

I've played Sins of the Solar Empire for a couple of hourse now and it's actually pretty good. The lack of campaign doesn't even bother me. I don't know how it'll hold up for long term play, since many games like this get kinda boring after a while.

What really pissed me off though: The save file of a round I had already been playing on for 2 hours (long rounds in this game) got corrupted, and my brother had played, so the autosaves were all for his game, which means I just lost those 2 hours of game time and have to start a new game. I'm just glad I wasn't further (as I said, loooong rounds) but it still pissed me off.

liquidstatik May 10th, 2008 08:55 PM

FF9, it's my favvv :o

Esuohlim May 10th, 2008 09:29 PM

I just got my PS2 back from my freeloading brother-in-law so I'm playing Vice City until I find something better to play :o

Dorito May 11th, 2008 01:22 AM

I've been hooked on SSB Brawl practically since it came out. I don't even play online at all (you know, Nintendo online being the shitfest it is), I just CPU for an hour or so every once in a while. I've done it enough that the god awful sideways wiimote method almost feels....useable...

Guitar Woman May 11th, 2008 03:06 PM

Pinball.

stitchfan626 May 12th, 2008 09:36 PM

Shock Troopers on the PS2 (Via SNK Arcade Classics). until i saw this game, i never knew that a "Mercs" type of game could kick serious as with plenty of rock music, an assload of weapons, and more importantly: more stuff getting blown up than on the 4th of july and new year's eve combined.

Phoenix Gamma May 12th, 2008 09:40 PM

I'm getting my hacked versions of WiiWare's Dr. Mario and Star Soldier R working. Once I back up all my data I'll be good to go.

Chojin May 13th, 2008 12:13 AM

I'm playing FF:CC on WiiWare and emily's playing Lost Winds on WiiWare :o :o :o

I've also been working on my DC collection lately and so far Shenmue is the most boring japanese town simulator I have ever played. And it was apparently designed on an engine meant for piloting TANKS. In hallways.

I'm on GTA4 and Mass effect on my 360, but still drop back on COD4 for multi

Fathom Zero May 16th, 2008 01:16 PM

I'm gonna get back into Mass Effect and The Orange Box on my 360. It refused to play them before, and now that my 360 is supposed to be fixed, you can look forward to seeing me beat your asses in Team Fortress 2.

bigtimecow May 16th, 2008 02:15 PM

mario kart wii and smash bros brawl are on and off everyday, but otherwise i'm playing FFXII: revenant wings on the ds. it's RTS, but it's quite fun. the only thing is there's a bunch of stats that i sort of "need" to take into consideration when playing and it's hard to keep track of all this on the field, but it's still early in the game so just grabbing a mass of people and sending them to attack and hope for the best is generally working.

Chojin May 16th, 2008 05:49 PM

gamefly is sending me a copy of gta4 soon!

Fathom Zero May 16th, 2008 07:25 PM

Can I look forward to playing with one of you I-mockery chumps in GTA 4? I have yet to do so.

Chojin May 17th, 2008 02:59 AM

I don't have an AGENDA, fathom - I've played every GTA game soon after they've come out (bought the first one before it because controversial during a trip to Seattle this makes me OG you see so for my e-penis's sake I must point this out) and I think it's going to be a bunch of vapid fun. But I'm not really looking forward to it any more than I was the box of 6 genesis games I won on ebay ;<

Fat_Hippo May 17th, 2008 03:59 AM

I just played through all The Godfather's mission in TWO DAYS, and I am not gonna extort every piece of shit business in this game. Seriously, what the hell? I got about 10 hours of playing time out of this game, and it doesn't have much replayability either. I'm just glad I didn't pay for it.

Thas game was pretty lazily designed in the first place though anyway. It's got a total of about 6 car models or so, which is just sad for a game of its kind. And they could've made a couple more designs for businesses, rackets and warehouses, because as it was, it got boring very quickly. Going through the same halls, having enemies hide behind the same boxes and peeking around the same corners all the time.

Fat_Hippo May 17th, 2008 05:01 PM

Oh, and Sins of a Solar Empire is a broken piece of shit. I wanted to play a huge game with 10 players, so that I don't get bored when I constantly have to start a new game. I started one of these, but after 2 hours it would just constantly crash. So I started another one, with the same settings, and again, 2 hours into the game, it will crash 2 minutes after loading, so I've decided to fuck that. And yes, I've got the newest patch installed.

But now I need a new game to play.:(

Guitar Woman May 17th, 2008 05:33 PM

Medieval 2: Total War - Kingdoms

I'm playing the Brittania Camapign as the Norwegians and the invasion is well underway. Take that England!

WhiteRat Jun 1st, 2008 01:12 AM

I played Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 for Dreamcast for an hour tonight. Surprisingly the graphics actually hold up pretty well considering the game came out 8 years ago. It gets pretty stale though after a few fights.

Dr. Boogie Jun 1st, 2008 03:17 AM

The 360 version of Iron Man. It has proven to be a remarkably fun game, apart from the shitty CGI cutscenes and an abominable defend mission.

MetalMilitia Jun 1st, 2008 09:24 AM

Duke Nukem: Manhattan project and Trials 2.

darkvare Jun 1st, 2008 11:13 AM

Barkley Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden. It's fucking hilarious and a really well made homage to a the 16 bit era RPGs. It's pretty much a must play if you're a basketball and RPG fan.

Phoenix Gamma Jun 1st, 2008 04:14 PM

I just downloaded Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III Third Strike for MAME. I never tried the SFIII games because they don't have as cool of a character roster, but it's really fun and the animation is some of the smoothest I've seen.

Sadly, I got a giant blister on my thumb. Always happens after too much Street Fighter.

Darmy647 Jun 2nd, 2008 10:24 PM

Legend of Zelda Phantom hourglass for the DS. They had it for only $17 on memorial day at Circuit City.

kenny Jun 3rd, 2008 01:12 AM

Me i'm playing gta 4. well i would be but my basement flooded, and my damn xbox broke.

Esuohlim Jun 3rd, 2008 01:59 AM

I'm replaying Ocarina of Time now.

It's weird how nostalgic I feel about a game I played for the very first time in 2002.

Emu Jun 3rd, 2008 05:38 PM

I was playing OOT a few months ago and I was loving the shit out of it until I got to the Water Temple.

Guitar Woman Jun 3rd, 2008 05:40 PM

Nobody likes the Water Temple, Emu, don't feel defeated.

Darmy647 Jun 3rd, 2008 06:21 PM

Seriously. Thats one reason I was scared to play the master-quest version of Ocarina of time.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 3rd, 2008 07:36 PM

I remember the water temple being really annoying, I just got done with Twilight Princess and I feel like the whole game was a breeze compared to OOT.

Esuohlim Jun 3rd, 2008 07:56 PM

I uh actually like the Water Temple :(

I'm less of a fan of the Shadow Temple

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 3rd, 2008 08:00 PM

I'm not going to lie, I haven't played it in 10 years, back then I'm pretty sure I needed a strat guide for it. The one thing I always liked about water temples in Zelda games meant it was hookshot time.

The desert temples were always my fav through the series.

Guitar Woman Jun 3rd, 2008 09:14 PM

Shadow Temple scared the hell out of me as a kid :(

Forest Temple is probably my favorite, if only for the music.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 3rd, 2008 10:32 PM

The barge creeped me out in Shadow Temple

Chojin Jun 4th, 2008 02:04 PM

Now that i am throwing rockin' parties at my place, I will try to remember what we played the night before while I was in a drunken stupor and list them in order of most-played to least-played:

1. Genesis - Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (w/ Knuckles)
2. PC - O2Jam
3. PS2 - PaRappa the Rapper 2
4. Wii - Super smash Bros. Brawl
5. CD-i - Hotel Mario
6. PS1 - Um Jammer Lammy
7. 3DO - Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
8. Wii - Mario Kart Wii
9. Wii - Red Steel

PROTIPS
- Girls like Hotel Mario (!)
- The mission-based 4-person multiplayer game in Red Steel is awesome
- Schimid has the attention span of a retarded cat
- The 3DO has the best port of SSF2T ever
- Fuck the metropolis zone
- O2jam is terrible and no one should ever play it
- I hate smash bros, guys
- Schimid also never cleans up after himself for any reason
- Even, even, even, Alaskan.

Phoenix Gamma Jun 4th, 2008 03:05 PM

I started up Etrian Odyssey. It's not fun at all, but I can't stop playing. I can't even start exploring the third floor because something always goes horribly wrong by the time I get there.

Girl Drink Drunk Jun 4th, 2008 03:50 PM

Didn't the Metropolis Zone have an extra act to it? I fucking hated that level.

I'm currently playing Street Fighter HF on Live Arcade.

Fat_Hippo Jun 6th, 2008 03:15 PM

I've finished the Britannia Campaign as Norway in Medieval 2 Kingdoms and I completely pwned the Crusades Campaign as Jerusalem, and if I'd kept playing instead of fulfilling the victory conditons after 120 turns, the map would have been 100% mine. I was actually just buying regions off the other factions toward the end because I had so much money. About a third of my Kingdom was purchased.
I'm probably never gonna finish the Americas campaign 'cause I got pised off by the ridiculously boring battles. Sending one horde of indians against another is just not that interesting.
Unless Mass Effect comes in the mail sooner than expected, I'm gonna do the Teutonic campaign next, but I'm not sure what I should play as. I generally prefer well traned troops over large troops of shitty ones, so I might play as the Teutonic Knights, or maybe the Holy Roman Empire or Poland or something. I don't wanna be no punk ass Lithuania bitch.

Esuohlim Jun 6th, 2008 08:45 PM

Metropolis Zone had that mile-high nut and bolt that you had spin up while avoiding about 50 of those exploding starfish. FUCK that zone

MLE Jun 7th, 2008 02:14 AM

and O2Jam is not terrible, and I love it :< There was a line to play it at my computer. It's just a music game that's like IIDX that uses the keyboard. There are mostly shitty songs, but I like the game itself, and apparently tons of other people liked it enough.

Guitar Woman Jun 7th, 2008 02:46 AM

or even look inside it :(

executioneer Jun 7th, 2008 08:46 AM

i dont ever play the actual dwarf fortress, i just go adventuring and see how many cyclopes i can strangle to death :(

before i pass out in a slurry of blood and vomit and a pack of jaguars tears my head clean off :(

Fat_Hippo Jun 7th, 2008 11:44 AM

Okay, Mass Effect DID in fact come in the mail a whole 3 days sooner than I expected, and so far, it's pretty nice. Nice fight system, though I wish there was a bit more to character creation. Very good voicework and overall good graphics, though there's something wrong with the dynamic lighting: Really weird facial shadows. I haven't gotten that far yet, but I imagine it will only get better as I keep going, so I'm looking forward to a good roleplaying experience like I haven't had in a while.

Fathom Zero Jun 7th, 2008 02:33 PM

Sometimes the shadows look a bit grainy to me. But it looks like a moving drawing, so I can't complain. I can't decide if that's how they wanted to do it or not, so I just enjoyed it.
