It'll be worth it all though. Not only will it help you get a job, your job will be in the profession you are studying for!

Esuohlim Aug 23rd, 2010 08:14 PM

That's good news I've been studying a lot of pornography lately

Kitsa Aug 23rd, 2010 09:06 PM

Those fucking zappos puppets are creepy.

I had one professor who demanded we buy a BRAND FUCKING NEW PDR every time it came out. And carry it to class. And we barely used it.

PICTURED ACTUAL SIZE

It was one of the first things I ever put on a credit card because on my wages I could never buy it outright.

The biggest kick in the teeth was the book buyback table across from the bookstore, where they'd look at the perfect-condition $300 book you'd just bought a few WEEKS before, in some cases, and tell you they'd give you $2 for it.

Zhukov Aug 24th, 2010 07:31 AM

Hahaha.

I actually have read all my text books from my time at university. I had interest in my subjects, and I still have them all.

They weren't that expensive, either. Every so often we would have to buy a collection of print outs in a binder for a couple of bucks.

Life was good.

Because the prof wanted you to buy it BRAND SPANKING NEW, the people at the buyback table knew there was no market for even a slightly used copy.

If you still have it, you could probably sell it on half.com for .... well, about half the current market price. :\

I always figured PDRs are always pretty much useless if they're not the current year. I got rid of all mine as soon as I was out of school. As a matter of fact, I only kept a couple of physiology texts, a really cool anatomy text that was basically a picture book of real cadavers, and some paperback general medicine text. Oh...and "Where There Is No Doctor" and "Where There is No Dentist", because you never know when you'll need to make a treadle dental drill out of tin can scraps.

It all depends - I saw a lot of editions on half.com for anywhere from $0.75 to $30. However, as you mentioned, the point is moot. :\

Kitsa Aug 24th, 2010 09:18 PM

Yep. And I watched all that M*A*S*H, too :/

Today, I was taking photographs of my mother's garden and accidentally stepped on an anthill. My shoes filled with angry ants, and now my feet are puffy and itchy. FML.

kahljorn Aug 24th, 2010 09:24 PM

today i was looking at a tree while waiting for the bus and i noticed there was a hole in it and it looked weird on the inside so i stuck my hand in and touched it and there was like a bunch of really soft dirt and i moved it all around :(

turns out it was an ant nest or some shit cause like 2 minutes later there was a thousand panicked ants everywhere.

Babs Aug 25th, 2010 01:55 AM

Nope, that was my ass.

kahljorn Aug 25th, 2010 01:58 AM

your ass is dirty and your body is very treelike ;/ though slender.

ALSO THE WEED I GOT TODAY FOR TEN BUCKS IS RIDICULOUS ;/

Esuohlim Aug 25th, 2010 04:12 AM

2:30am power outages suck extra hard. It ruined the really good shit I was in the middle of taking >:

Tadao Aug 25th, 2010 04:18 PM

I'm downloading Rosetta Stone (Spanish/Latin America). Hopefully it will make learning fun!

Kitsa Aug 25th, 2010 05:20 PM

Our neighbor is shaving another neighbor's back hair in their driveway with dog clippers.

I just thought you all should know.

Tadao Aug 25th, 2010 05:39 PM

Kitsa Aug 25th, 2010 05:47 PM
