Hot enough for ya?

Supposed to top out at 100 today in Salem, Massachusetts, which is way too damn hot. Especially considering that we spent all of May and most of June in the high forties.

Added to that I threw out my back and I cannot lift any of our air conditioners, let alone put them in. There's one in the living room that's up and running, so the whole damn family is barricaded in here.

This could end badly.

Kitsa Jul 22nd, 2011 04:13 PM

We spent the day at the petting zoo, which in retrospect had every trapping of a Thoroughly Bad Idea.

We have central air, but our landlord is iffy on maintenance and the house has never gotten lower than 86. Yesterday I just took the kid and the dog outside and sprayed them with the garden hose.

there's always 2-3 weeks of stroke inducing 100-115 degree weather here, but that's dry heat.

i'd start survival maneuvers if i had to deal with humidity on top of that

Zomboid Jul 22nd, 2011 04:28 PM

For me, there has been a total of eight days without rain since June 1st. I love rain, so this is good.

executioneer Jul 22nd, 2011 04:34 PM

i don't think we've even broken 90 this year :/ WASHINGTON STATE, THE STATE WITHOUT SUMMER

Fathom Zero Jul 22nd, 2011 05:04 PM

I'm in the middle of Texas. The water is on fire.

k0k0 Jul 22nd, 2011 05:44 PM

Yeah man, I'm in Austin Texas and I wish 100 was a once in a while thing here. Plus the humidity is some nasty shit.

creeposaurus Jul 22nd, 2011 06:03 PM

You should walk around in the nude. That's what people do here when its 90+

Colonel Flagg Jul 22nd, 2011 09:04 PM

103 in Philly and 106 in Trenton. I'd say "someone please shoot me" but I've already passed away from heatstroke.

Fathom Zero Jul 22nd, 2011 09:10 PM

ThrashO Jul 22nd, 2011 11:48 PM

I love when I get into the car and the seatbelt buckle touches the back of my arm and I almost shit my pants.

elx Jul 23rd, 2011 12:30 AM

earlier the boyfriend bought me one of those little counter .25c junior mint thingys while we were waiting on the bus and I was sorting through papers, and by the time he walked from the counter to the stop, about 30 seconds, his hand was covered in melted chocolate. :(

edit: oh yeah and the humidity/muggyness on the east coast is TERRIBLE. yesterday it rained and everyone was like, "ah, finally, we'll get to cool off!" but it just made it so much more worse. :(

ItalianStereotype Jul 23rd, 2011 01:26 AM

If any of my neighbors ever take to walking around in the nude I'm going to run them over with my car

Shyandquietguy Jul 23rd, 2011 01:55 AM

I have the most ghetto assed cooling system you could ever think of. 24 oz. soda bottles frozen and placed on a rack w/ bowl to catch condensation and fan to spread the word!

I haven't used it yet but I'm ready!

79 in Los Angeles. It's fucking hot today.

Kitsa Jul 23rd, 2011 12:08 PM

I just came back from an event at a baseball field. We were all dripping with sweat and about to drop the whole time. They had stations where they were making everyone drink a dixie cup of cold water every so often.

creeposaurus Jul 23rd, 2011 12:17 PM

I like misting stations they have at amusement parks here. It makes me feel like produce.

Kitsa Jul 23rd, 2011 01:09 PM

A couple of years ago, I was trying to follow Mr. Kitsa through an airshow and the heat index was like 110 or something. I got lightheaded and the next thing I knew, a Marine was shouting "MA'AM! MA'AM! Are you all right?" That snapped me to attention pretty quick. I think the Marine gave me water.

Geggy Jul 23rd, 2011 09:04 PM

In an attempt to beat the heat I opened a can of super cold Coors light but nothing happened. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AT ITS BEST

Zhukov Jul 24th, 2011 03:38 AM

Oh man it was a hot one today here as well. I had to take my gloves off, and some of the mountain snow was melting too.
