I was reading the WFYB Radio thread, & Prog Shooter had this long complicated recipe for compressing the show, & all I could think was "Why the fuck don't you just buy a cheap tube compressor?" then Chojin said exactly that, & I was refreshed in the knowledge that he is my internet saviour.

Personally I use expensive digital compression with cool flashy lights on the box, but I'd rather have good sound than dinner for a few weeks. :(

Homeless people don't die. When I was really little, my mother and I used to pass by this one funky homeless woman on the way to school. She'd screech at us and wouldn't move out of the way. When I was a tad bit older, my brother and me (no pun intended >: ) would laugh and make fun of her.

Fast forward to last summer, i'm out walking the streets and I see her sitting at that same street, but she doesn't recognize me. I for one am glad. I gave her a few bucks.

BTW, in digital audio is there a difference between normalizing and compressing? I would think more streaming apps would have some sort of normalizing function available.

Yeah, normalizing just takes the maximum peak and raises the volume of the song until that peak hits 0 dB. Compression doesn't inherently change song volume, it's just so commonly applied afterward that it's built into most units. Usually you compress and then normalize to achieve max volume.

My day is going alright so far, though i'm dreading going to work today. I know my assistant manager will be there, and he is a most unpleasant man to work with.
