Twin Peaks Season 2: Paramount f*cking s*cks

paramount owns the original negatives for the episodes of Twin Peaks. These were the same negatives used to remaster the video for Twin Peaks season one, which was released by Artisan, and looked fantastic.

So for season 2, Artisan wanted to maintain that same high quality the first season had, but this time around paramount refused them the use of the original negatives, unless they paid some insane price. Artisan couldn't afford it. Artisan could have released a set using old masters used to make the VHS tapes, but it woudln't have looked as good, and they refused to do such a thing.

In September 2005, the rights to Twin Peaks reverts back to Paramount, who as I said own the original negatives. And here's a kick in the d*ck: They aren't going to use them.

HEY PARAMOUNT, WAY TO S*CK IN EVERY F*CKING ASPECT OF MAKING DVDS

I guess I should clarify that Paramount plans to use the same old masters that artisan didn't want to use, because fans wouldn't accept it. Anyway, yeah, paramount sucks.

Paramount will probably release a stupid Becker Series Set before we'll Ever see Twin Peaks. >:

Make an online petition! For some reason, when it comes to DVDs, it often works.

Eh, fuck Paramount. What you should do is pay some money to some poor archival assistant in their labs to cut you some brand new dupes of the original negatives, then sell the shit out of them to some people to recoup your costs, then watch as those assholes put them online as disc images and screw Paramount out of ever making money off of those. Of course, then Paramount will get all pissy about how the internet is 'ripping them off' and then put out a vanilla DVD set, lose the money (why buy when you can still get them online for free), then have to farm it out to Anchor Bay or Artisan who can finally release a special edition thus finally giving the consumer what they want.

Not that I thought about this...

Here's some good news:

New Transfers for Twin Peaks Season 2 ?!!!
I have just received information today that has confirmed that Paramount has decided to go with new video transfers for Twin Peaks: Season 2 DVD set. It appears that the information I had received from Paramount Germany was old information, as they had planned on releasing the Series on their own shortly after their release of Season 1 on DVD. Now that Paramount is doing a worldwide release, all territories under the Paramount branch will be using the same transfers for the Season 2 box set. Great news indeed!!! Now we'll just have to wait and see if the new transfer is up to the same quality as the Season 1 set.
