Looks pretty much exactly like the mask from splatterhouse 3. I don't see why you're whining about it.

Yes, exactly the same.

I forgot how badly the cover art sucked on the second one

Zomboid May 16th, 2008 02:21 PM

Yeah, and I don't remember there being Xenomorphs from the alien movies showing up.

Nick May 16th, 2008 06:37 PM

I love how his mask is kept on by tiny little skeleton hands. d:3

I maintain that I'm looking forward to it, but I'm still wary. Part of what made the monsters scary in the previous games was that they were so bizarre-looking (a mound of fat with an enormous mouth, a some kind of aborted fetus attached to a rope, etc), but in these few bits of media that I've seen, they look more like the standard fare for monsters.

And I swear I saw what looked like a jumping puzzle.

Sacks Jun 2nd, 2008 12:59 PM

Well as boring as the monsters may be, this game looks like it's going to be amazing to look at.

Darmy647 Jun 2nd, 2008 10:18 PM

Im interested to see how the whicker man he goes up against goes. I heard its sort of shadow of the colossus kind of boss battles.

Nick Jun 4th, 2008 01:17 AM

As long as they can restart the franchise, and improve in the sequels, I'll be happy.

Nick Nov 16th, 2008 12:18 AM

According to this new issue of Gamepro, instead of having a life gauge your body just gets ripped to shreds.

I hope there are multiple endings like in SplatterHouse 3. And that it has that same feeling claustophobia and sheer grossness.

My little sister was trying to play SH3 and she had to stop after the first level because the monsters were making her nauseous. It was the baby bird ones in the second level that bothered her the most. :x

Nick Nov 16th, 2008 11:04 PM

What a wuss.

What the fuck are baby bird monsters? You mean the screaming mimis?

Dr. Boogie Nov 18th, 2008 02:58 PM

He means the ones that shoot their tongues at you and try to slide along the floor to hit you.

Nick Nov 18th, 2008 07:45 PM

That sounds like exactly like a baby bird.

Zomboid Nov 18th, 2008 08:05 PM

Nevermind the fact that half their fucking head is teeth and JAW.

Nick Nov 18th, 2008 08:10 PM

What point of exactly like a bird did you not understand?

Dr. Boogie Nov 18th, 2008 08:23 PM

I guess their arms are folded up like little wings, but still, your sister needs glasses.

Sam Nov 18th, 2008 08:36 PM

AND A PAIR OF NUTS.

Nick Nov 18th, 2008 09:33 PM

OH SNAP SON!

Also, how you plane a Splatterhouse.

Grislygus Nov 19th, 2008 12:39 PM

Now now, we already figured that out in a brainstorming session

BLEU Nov 19th, 2008 06:10 PM

Well fuck, I don't know what they're supposed to be! But they look the most like a baby bird to me so that's what I identify them as. Sorry. :\

Is there really zero similarity between the two? The dude who runs the West Mansion describes them as "antlike," though, so I guess it's subjective because I don't see that AT ALL.

Zomboid Nov 19th, 2008 07:12 PM

He describes them as ant-like? That's what I always thought too, though admittedly, I don't know why.

MrSmiley381 Nov 24th, 2008 03:08 PM

If they don't mess this game up, I will be happy.

If they mess this game up, I might buy it anyway.

Keeping that in mind, Splatterhouse is the one franchise where I can say that every game, including the Famicom spinoff, was inherently good. No shameless cashing-in ever seemed apparent to me.
