batman arkham asylum. i almost wish there were something more to the combat, but that's probably the only gripe i can find about it :eek

it's like an interactive, very long episode of the original animated series (with different character designs of course, but then they kind of switched designs halfway thru the original series anyways so big whoop)

FistfulOAwesome Aug 30th, 2009 01:12 AM

I cannot stop playing Punch-Out!! Wii. I've got over 700 completed matches on the thing and I'm still not bored. I swear Next-Level might have done too good a job on the game. I can't even guess how they'll improve on the sequel (but hopefully they surprise me).

P.S. I so underrated the multi-player mode. It's a bit unbalanced (playing as Giga Mac kinda sucks since he can't dodge, can be One-Hit Knockdowned, and can't do a fourth recover), but for a rough presentation of what a full-fledged Punch-Out!! multiplayer could be like, it's a damn lot of fun.

Fathom Zero Aug 30th, 2009 02:37 AM

Motherfucking just beat Dr. Robotnik's Motherfucking Mean Bean Machine and got that motherfucking gold trophy, goddamnit.

Mad Melvin Aug 30th, 2009 06:40 AM

Fallout 3 with all the DLC's and shit. Goodbye social life.

executioneer Aug 31st, 2009 09:13 PM

seriously cant stop playing batman. best non-post-apocalyptic-rpg game i've played in recent years

OxBlood Sep 1st, 2009 04:06 AM

I agree. Arkham Asylum is awesome. Played it for around 8 hours yesterday up to 40% and they really got the exploration right. Almost feels like a Metroid game sometimes and I don´t think that I can make a bigger compliment than that :)

executioneer Sep 1st, 2009 04:42 AM

i kind of wish they'd made the riddler challenges harder on hard difficulty, though. moved 'em around, taken out the maps, something.

Spoilers!

Are you playing it on the genesis or something like sonic's ultimate collection?

Guitar Woman Sep 2nd, 2009 01:24 PM

Doom 3.

I thought all the CAN'T SEE SHIT quips were a joke, but even with the flashlight turned on. God damn.

It also feels like I'm playing this on the Quake 2 engine the way the guns recoil and sound. Don't like it.

Zhukov Sep 2nd, 2009 01:39 PM

Strange. I was just considering getting Doom 3 out and finishing it sometime.

Dimnos Sep 2nd, 2009 02:44 PM

League of Legends. Its :\

captain516 Sep 2nd, 2009 07:59 PM

I found my PC copy of Spiderman and it's awesome. Great voice acting, unlockable costumes, dozens of easter eggs, and the whole thing is narrated by Stan Lee! It's easily one of the best Superhero games ever.

executioneer Sep 2nd, 2009 11:57 PM

NUH UH BANTMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM IS *fights u*

captain516 Sep 3rd, 2009 01:12 AM

Sonic's Collection. Comes with savestates, not that I used them practically. I saved at the end of every puzzle, where I would be given a password, anyway.

OxBlood Sep 3rd, 2009 03:39 AM

Speaking of Superhero games, my Champions online should arrive today, already was a lot of fun in the beta and I´m really looking forward to build lots of nice Hero-Dudes. :)

stevetothepast Sep 3rd, 2009 02:09 PM

Playing Project Gotham Racing 4, I'm not much for racing games but what the hell. Also started replaying through DKC trilogy last night after finally unpacking the snes from storage :/

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 3rd, 2009 02:53 PM

I got the xbox live kit yesterday and it came with project gotham racing 4. Is it any good? I was going to just trade it in.

stevetothepast Sep 3rd, 2009 03:08 PM

yeah that's how I got mine. It's okay but like I said, I'm not much for racing games.

Dimnos Sep 3rd, 2009 03:24 PM

I hear need for speed undercover is the shit if you like racing games.

stevetothepast Sep 3rd, 2009 03:33 PM

LEAVE ME ALONE DIMNOS, GODDAMMIT I DON'T LIKE RACING GAMES.

Dimnos Sep 3rd, 2009 04:46 PM

Im sorry man... Im sorry.... :tear

Dimnos Sep 3rd, 2009 04:47 PM

You guys with the PS3s. What are the must have games?

Fathom Zero Sep 3rd, 2009 04:55 PM

Pat Frincess. Shatter. Unreal Tournament III. The upcoming Demon Souls. Burnout Paradise. Little Big Planet. Infamous. Et cetera.

stevetothepast Sep 3rd, 2009 05:08 PM

Little big planet is extremely fun. for a while.

MarioRPG Sep 3rd, 2009 06:19 PM

That summarizes most games.

Fathom Zero Sep 3rd, 2009 08:41 PM

Certain games have more features on the PS3 than their 360 counterparts. Bioshock only has the Challenge Room DLC on PS3. The Burnout Paradise has a special interface that uses the PS3's web browser. And the Joker Challenges in Arkham Asylum.

Of course, for every PS3 exclusive, there's a bajillion Xbox exclusives.

Killzone 2 is utter shit, by the way, and I hate it. I'd rather be playing Call of Duty any day of the week. And Halo 3? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

LordSappington Sep 3rd, 2009 09:33 PM

I just got a copy of Painkiller. I forgot how awesome this game is. The weapon that the game considers your pea shooter is pretty much a self-propelled BLENDER.

Dimnos Sep 3rd, 2009 09:59 PM

What is Burnout paradise like? I havent played a racing game in a looooong time. Can you buy your own cars and mod them out and shit?

I dont like Halo 3. I loved the first one back in the day and I had one of those French bootleg copies of 2. It was pretty bad ass. 3 though... I didnt feel like it brought anything new to the table. :(

Fathom Zero Sep 3rd, 2009 10:03 PM

You don't get to modify your own cars, but, with the DLC and such, there are over a hundred or so unique ones. Most of the cars come in pairs with different stats and paint jobs, but of the same model. But they are unique, especially the DLC ones. I love the Manhattan Spirit.

Sam Sep 3rd, 2009 10:29 PM

I like the Delorean :eek

Hmm, I bought that a while ago for $9.95 and I forgot to play it. I wonder where it is.

OxBlood Sep 4th, 2009 05:38 AM

Started the Retailversion of Champions online. And of course the servers were down. They´re back up by now but the performance is still total and utter ASS. I love MMO´s...yuck.

Find it. It's got the cheesiest and most annoying cutscenes ever, but luckily it doesn't put emphasis on the story anywhere else. The gameplay is awesome; you go from wiping out zombies in a Dark Age city infested with plague (and witches, apparently), to fighting whole sects of ax-wielding monks, to a level that can only be described as an Iron Maiden album cover in game form.

I was reading this and it sounded really familiar and couldn't remember where I saw this. Now thinking it through my roommate has it. Watched him play through the monk level and I'm confirming its ridiculous awesomeness.

Guitar Woman Sep 4th, 2009 08:05 PM

I started playing Monkey Island, but I was shit at it so I downloaded Loom instead.

Loom is holding my attention pretty thorougly, even though I don't know how to access my inventory, or if I even have one, and the only spell I can cast turns shit green.

Edit: And unturns it green if I play the spell backwards, apparently. That's actually pretty fucking cool.

Guitar Woman Sep 5th, 2009 02:42 AM

Ok, I finished Loom in less than three hours :<

Other than being the shortest game I've played it was pretty good. Great, even. I'm playing Kingdom of Loathing and Nethack now.

i remember this game it was awesome specially the stake gun it felt great impaling people to the celling except i couldn't finish it cause it took me time to learn how to kill the last boss and later on i lost interest

LordSappington Sep 5th, 2009 03:22 PM

I don't think I ever figured out how the hell to beat him, actually.
My favorite level was easily the Orphanage.
Spoilers!

Guitar Woman Sep 5th, 2009 04:38 PM

Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters.

It's awesome. I tried to fly to earth and got yelled at by Willie, then I left and got exploded by some red cyrstal guys in hyperspace.

lol you need to go to one of jupiter's moons or mercury (jupiter's moons are more recommended cause you will die v. easy in mercury's firestorms) and pick up some radioactive materials :(

executioneer Sep 6th, 2009 08:01 PM

also exploring pluto before you bring the radioactives to earth may make things easier on you

edit: oh ps you need to go to the starbase orbiting earth did i forget to mention that? ignore what the ur-quan drone says for the most part

OxBlood Sep 7th, 2009 04:00 AM

Champions is starting to be an actual game with all the patching and whatnot. My copy of Dissidia also arrived just now, guess I gotta try it out later.

Guitar Woman Sep 7th, 2009 05:37 AM

yeah, I helped those guys out and cleaned mercury out of minerals without losing a crew member because I'm a badass like that :picklehat

I'm still getting attacked in deep space by the jerks with OP lightning ships, but since the spider guys' territory is circled I guess that's where I go next

executioneer Sep 7th, 2009 05:39 AM

well that's one thing you CAN do, but i'd start hunting nearby systems for minerals, ilwrath ships are a BITCH when they've got active cloaks

Dimnos Sep 7th, 2009 07:57 PM

What's a good multiplayer game to play over PSN? And don't tell me about killzone 2.

Fathom Zero Sep 7th, 2009 09:33 PM

Battlefield 1943. Burnout. Fat Princess. Little Big Planet. Even Ghostbusters is really fun.

Burnout is the best multiplayer online, ever, honestly.

Microshock Sep 7th, 2009 11:45 PM

Burnout has tapped out it's fun for me, i dont regret buying it, it was only 20 dollars and the DLC is ok to play with, but it's just boring now. You should have fun with it for a while though. It also becomes pretty expensive after buying all the shit

And why no KZ2? Fathom hates it for some reason but you may not. Socom? Red Faction: Guerilla, Fat Princess , Resistance 2, GTA4.

Guitar Woman Sep 8th, 2009 05:27 AM

NetHack.

I tried to be a Wizard for a while, but I gave up after a fucking hobbit shanked me to death on the second level.

Valkyrie, now.

OxBlood Sep 8th, 2009 06:23 AM

I am positively suprised how much stuff there is in Dissidia, really nice game so far.

valkyries start out pretty well equipped, but if i remember right a little short on food. my fav class to play is priest but it's almost cheating cause they can see if stuff is cursed before picking it up. of course w/ a little work you can use pets to do the same, it's just more hassle

Just that its already on my list of things to get. Just wanted to know what else was out there with good online play.

I picked up Uncharted, Infamous and Disgaea 3. Uncharted was good right up until the halfway point and it decided to start locking up. :( Turns out that is a common problem with the 3.0 firmware? Seeing as you work for Sony when are they getting that shit fixed Micro?

Fathom Zero Sep 8th, 2009 12:07 PM

:lol

Microshock Sep 8th, 2009 12:26 PM

Sony acknowledges the problems and is quickly working on a fix. They announced that on the PS blog. Plus theres a Q and A on the european ps blog today about 3.0

So should be fixed. I just traded away uncharted about a week ago anyway

Dimnos Sep 8th, 2009 12:41 PM

Should be fixed? As in its fixed now?

stevetothepast Sep 8th, 2009 01:00 PM

no just it should be fixed, as in it should have never happened.

Microshock Sep 8th, 2009 01:46 PM

Yeah, it shouldn't have happened but it will be fixed is what they say. This week at least

Dimnos Sep 8th, 2009 02:29 PM

stevetothepast Sep 8th, 2009 02:37 PM

stevetothepast Sep 9th, 2009 08:48 PM

LordSappington Sep 9th, 2009 10:48 PM

I think I already played through the ten or so songs on Guitar Hero 5 that are any good to me.
It's really started to suck ever since 3; the songs are mostly all slow, with no real challenge to them. Rock Band has a lot more variation and speed. And, to me, a LOT better songs. But I'm not much of a classic rock person. Bring on the death metal!

executioneer Sep 9th, 2009 11:25 PM

rb2 has a handful of death metal tracks, plus there's some for d/l if i remember right

Dr. Boogie Sep 9th, 2009 11:28 PM

Prototype. I like how when you walk into someone, instead of just shouldering past them, you wind up and smack them right in the face.

And I was playing Mechwarrior 4, but now Willie has me hooked on SC2, too.

captain516 Sep 9th, 2009 11:28 PM

Age of Empires.

are you playin original or the remix with the speech from the 3D0 version, cause i gotta say most of the encounters are better with speech :eek

Phoenix Gamma Sep 10th, 2009 01:43 AM

About to play Beyond Good and Evil for the first time, because I never played it and hear it's really good.

Also, downloaded Disaster: Day of Crisis for the Wii because Reggie doesn't want me to play it. It's pretty average I guess. Kinda retarded; like a collection of disaster movie cliches, except not as retarded as Disaster Movie.

Babs Sep 10th, 2009 02:29 AM

I've been playing the shit out of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on Dreamcast. Hands down the best fighting game around. Legendary line up (courtesy mostly to Capcom). I can't get over the fact that this title alone didn't save the Dreamcast, well I guess PS2 had it as well but still, amazing game.

Guitar Woman Sep 10th, 2009 03:42 AM

Day of Crisis actually got made?

Shit, I remember wanting to play that 5 fucking years ago.

Phoenix Gamma Sep 10th, 2009 09:01 AM

Yea, only came out in Europe.

stevetothepast Sep 10th, 2009 10:22 AM

Conquerers Expansion. The El Cid campaign kicks ass.

DougClayton4231 Sep 10th, 2009 08:52 PM

I'm playing Batman (which kicks so much ass) and Soul Calibur IV (which sucks terribly). Can't always win right?

captain516 Sep 10th, 2009 08:59 PM

I didn't think anything that let you play as Darth Vader could suck.

Dimnos Sep 10th, 2009 10:03 PM

Batman rocked. The end was the only thing I had an issue with. :\

Castle Crashers because I finally got XBOX live.

Lockeness108 is anyone wants to play.

FF4 on the Gameboy Advance.

No matter what way I look at it, this is still a shit-tier Final Fantasy.

Phoenix Gamma Sep 11th, 2009 02:25 AM

Scribblenauts AND Mario&Luigi 3 were leaked today. Best day ever.

IŽd rather say 4 was the first GOOD Final Fantasy. 1-3 on the other hand are terrible in my opinion. Of the three older ones (4,5,6), I still like 5 the best because of the job-system.

Guitar Woman Sep 11th, 2009 07:12 AM

Yeah, I just started playing 5 for the first time and once I realized you could combine classes I went into super nerd mode and my team ended up so hardcore that even bosses are a three-turn joke. I think my favorite is the Berserker with the passive two-handed axe weilding, which does about 800 damage.

But overpowered as hell is the only way to play through any of the Final Fantasies. Which is also why I like 8. I always go completely apeshit with the Junction system and get 9999 health for everyone by Disc 2 :picklehat

Ghostbusters was ok I guess, it ran like shit on PC though. Somehow I managed to beat Dead Space in less than 5 hours when I got it, it never scared me once which kinda pissed me off. Can anyone recommend something on 360?
