Most BadAss Drummer: Then and Now

Then: Tommy Lee (remember, this is THE EARLY DAYS)

Now: The drummer for Static-X.

HERB

BulletCatcher Feb 7th, 2003 12:48 AM

Then: Dave Lombardo (sp?)

Now: This is a tie up between Origin and Dillinger Escape Plan. Speed vs. Technicality....which do we side with?

Helm Feb 9th, 2003 09:10 PM

Then: Gene Hoglan

Now: dude from Dillinger Escape Plan, hands down.

executioneer Feb 12th, 2003 05:56 PM

Is he alive?

A better question would be: does anyone care?

Shut Up Feb 15th, 2003 02:58 PM

"Then: Dave Lombardo

Fuck yeah. Dave Lombardo was the best drummer Slayer had. Sucks that the entire band hates him now...

Helm Feb 16th, 2003 04:00 AM

It's funny how he's back with the band.

Skulhedface Feb 25th, 2003 03:09 PM

In case you didn't know...

Lombardo still plays drums, he plays in Phantomas, Mike Patton's newer-but-not-quite-so-new-anymore band, along with the bassist for Mr. Bungle (Trevor Dunn) and Buzz Osbourne from the Melvins.

Irwin M. Fletcher Feb 26th, 2003 01:30 PM

Sean Reinert, Dave Lombardo, Gene Hoglan, etc. Then and now. But Reinert kills them all, especially in the "then" category.

Generator86 Mar 1st, 2003 05:06 AM

Then--either Ken Owen from Carcass or Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel.

Now--Nick from Kataklysm (Temple of Knowledge only) and the guy from Pig Destroyer. Sorry, I can't remember his name at the moment.

What do they all have in common? Speed AND technicality. Why choose just one?

Metronome Blast :rock

Generator86 Mar 4th, 2003 12:57 PM

What's wrong with blast beats?

Also, once again, although they probably don't fall under the category of metal, Jord from Propagandhi is fucking incredible.

Helm Mar 5th, 2003 12:00 PM

There's nothing wrong with Blastbeats. A metronome blast is a different kind of blast beat the Kataklysm like to employ. There's one kick for every four snare hits. Makes it easier to headbang to.

Mockery Mar 5th, 2003 12:18 PM

But Reinert kills them all, especially in the "then" category

Reinert is too good. It's pretty scary.

But let us not forget the man:

:lol I got a response from Mockery, and has shed light on the subject. Now I feel ashamed I forgot about the truly most badass drummer ever. :(

Eh, fuck it. I'm glad we now have a great pic on the thread. :)

Helm Mar 5th, 2003 08:10 PM

And you thought it proper to quote it so we can waste some more of Mock's branwidth. Great.

Ninjavenom Mar 5th, 2003 09:02 PM

Seriously, if you're commenting on a post right above yours, there's no need to quote the fucking thing.

Oh yes there is. :)

Sam Mar 5th, 2003 11:15 PM

The drummer from Def Leppard only has one arm.

That's pretty cool.

I'm done.

The Unseen Mar 12th, 2003 06:30 PM

Then: Def Lepperd

Now: GWAR
