watching cartoons all the time is what's keeping me from overeating lately, i lost 5lbs last week

also you seem to have difficulty discerning cause from effect. I got depression > thn got fat and never recovered, not the other way around

Kitsa Jul 6th, 2011 08:27 AM

Willie, I guess I'm still hugely confused and I know this isn't the ask willie thread but I still haven't figured it out

Are we talking the shitty my little pony show that is played on the hub, or are you talking some animutation thing that is way more hilarious?

I guess I can see the shitty revamped my little pony show being hilarious if you're really really high, but I keep going back and forth based on your posts and I don't know which one it is.

Also, my daughter begged for an Applejack yesterday at the store.

Chojin Jul 6th, 2011 08:45 AM

i didn't say fatness caused depression, i said that eating like a moron and not exercising causes depression

i didn't even bring up fatness actually

are you feeling especially fat today or something

executioneer Jul 6th, 2011 08:49 AM

it's the one from the hub, yeah

i dunno why exactly I like it so much. maybe it's the unrelenting cheerfulness combined with legitimately complex but likable characters and actual humor.

maybe all the youtube comment trolls are right and i secretly want to fuck small horses idk

Chojin Jul 6th, 2011 08:51 AM

i watched one episode, the one where applejack wants to farm all the apples. all of them.

it was pretty much like every other cartoon i've ever watched

well fine then, it's still not "eating bad = cause of depression", it's "depression = cause of eating bad"

i apologize if i'm a little incoherent, i should have gone to bed five hours ago + still a little inebriated

When I had My Little Ponies as a kid, their tails would always get tangled, and then when I brushed them the tail-plug would pop out. So I have a bunch of tail-less ponies in a box somewhere.

i have what is affectionately called "happy fat" right now. i gained 15 pounds in my nesting "lets stay in bed and cuddle for 6 months" period of my current relationship. So now the object of the game is to lose 20-30 lbs by next spring so i can look pretty in a wedding dress. i know what i need to do and it's not like it's hard, but i desperately miss my workout room in my old house.
also: soon-to-be-mr-dixie likes me with a big butt so i guess it's not all bad. i just don't like the way i look in evening gowns at the moment.

please do continue to speak of fitness stuff, i'm always interested in such things.

the spider thing seems very unpleasant kitsa. get the flamethrower.

PONIES!!!!<3<3<3<3 i still hadn't seen friendship is magic but youtube shows me all i need to see.

Couple years ago my little brother watched some insane show with a little boy and a whale with a black woman as a voice all the time, I couldn't believe how funny it was. The whole thing was on a dock or something. I remember being vividly relieved that I no longer had to hear pedalboard and the hellspawned voice of spongebob in the background every time I saw him.

Now whenever the guy I'm sharing the house with's son visists he watches lots of insane shows, like something called Chowder, another called Regular Show, and another about a freakish kid with a yellow talking dog. I wonder if kids are only flipping out over an "MLP" reboot is because it's the only current childrens program that isn't batshit insane and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKY

Grislygus Jul 6th, 2011 04:24 PM

Dixie, set smaller benchmarks that you can meet relatively rapidly and CONTINUE to meet, instead of just making it a goal to lose twenty five pounds by spring

Of course, I've set out to lose at least three pounds every month until I hit target weight, and only lost five in the last two months and a bit, so I guess you can think too small :lol

That would be the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. I loved the R. Crumb/nautical etching style that it had going on as well as how creepy that it could get when they had someone like Penn Ward (who does Adventure Time) in charge of the episode. I wish I wasn't so damn unmotivated/lazy to get into animation, but with my level of creative apathy, I haven't even been able to finish a complete comic since about 2006.

Also I learned something while switching doctor's offices today: my last shrink had no sense of humor. A while ago during an appointment I made a joke about getting drunk on mouthwash and getting a back-alley sex change. When I looked over my case files on the ride to give them to my new doctor, I noticed that my old doctor had recently added "gender identity disorder" to my other diagnoses. Thanks, Dr. Cant Take A Joke! Good thing I never made an offhand remark about pipe bombs or murder around you.

Listen to Willie, he knows what he's talking about. Ignoring the fact that I haven't watched Regular Show because the art style doesn't appeal to me.

Also, anime fans scare the bejeezus out of me. I shared a dorm my senior year of art school with a guy that freely admitted to only pleasing himself to anime porn.

Grislygus Jul 6th, 2011 08:00 PM

Chojin, how is the simple advice I gave faulty

In my case, small benchmarks means three pounds a month, not quite reached but close enough at two months. 12 months in a year, three pounds per month, which means a plan of 36 pounds gone in a year. Except instead of popping off about 36 pounds gone in a year, I make a smaller more realistic goal of 3 lb per month, which is easily accomplished and EXACTLY THE SAME THING. This is backed by no more red meat, less rice and pasta, eating yogurt and not skipping breakfast, light dinners, riding a bike to my second job instead of driving, manning up and going for jogs on thursdays and tuesdays.

Did i advise THAT shit? No, I just recommended short term goals to reach a long-term goal, which is an incredibly basic strategy that applies to any damn thing you want to accomplish

Fathom Zero Jul 6th, 2011 08:09 PM

Dixie Jul 6th, 2011 08:11 PM

no soda and no cheap corn syrup "fruit juice".

And like i said i know how to lose the weight, it's easy. i was just making the statement that i need to and that i was enjoying the conversation about fitness.

okay sure, but pounds are not fat. tracking poundage is a mistake if you're doing any kind of exercise and aren't obese. also it wasn't necessarily all wrong info, i just don't like it when amateurs give advice on anything because the info is either anecdotal or regurgitated from hearsay. DONNY YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR ELEMENT

>This is backed by
>no more red meat,

why, that's the only natural source of creatine

>less rice and pasta

why, starches are the best carbs

>eating yogurt

i like yogurt but it's hardly worth mentioning in a diet plan because it doesn't do anything other than have calories.

>not skipping breakfast

common myth that this helps fat loss, only an old study shows this and it's more likely that the group that went without breakfast had poor eating habits to begin with, only one of which was skipping meals and then gorging at night. i usually eat breakfast myself, but that's because i'm hungry when i wake up. again, it's not really worth mentioning.

>light dinners

meaning what? every meal should be "light". ty for not brosciencing at me about 6 meals/day though.

>riding a bike to my second job instead of driving
>manning up and going for jogs on thursdays and tuesdays

cardio is pretty ok weight loss but not muscle-sparing weight loss. resistance training is much more important on a diet; otherwise your best result will be becoming skinnyfat. this is of course unless your cardio is especially intense, but then it's anaerobic exercise anyway.

>I just recommended short term goals to reach a long-term goal

so you recommend using the division symbol. great protip!

my advice is to set a goal and then just track your progress while you work to achieve it. if you're achieving it too slowly, either you're doing it wrong or you need to do something else. setting up milestones is for fags who need constant self-reassurement.

:lol I was gonna crack a joke about every single one of you fitness nuts having completely contradictory opinions on everything under the sun, until I saw that you agree that the 6 MEALS A DAY 6 MEALS A DAY 6 MEALS A DAY thing is bullshit, which I like

Honestly, the people who I've had the biggest arguments over it with eat fast food multiple times on a weekly basis and then try to convince me that "the only time [they] ever lose weight" was when they ate more than three meals a day

Chojin Jul 6th, 2011 10:36 PM

there are tons of myths in the fitness community, and it's why i encourage people who haven't studied it to not give advice.

Here's a good article from a respected nutritionist and author on why 6 meals is stupid: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/res...html#more-1389

This guy wrote a book on intermittent fasting and also cites credible studies himself, in this article he discusses some myths about fasting which includes the "gotta eat breakfast" thing: http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top...-debunked.html

I disagree with him on working out while fasted, though--I perform much worse if I haven't had starch carbs before lifting, and another writer I respect more on the topic on training recommends something on the order of 50g starch carb/protein both before and after your workout (basically making sure those things are in your pre and post meals) and timing your shake immediately before and after the session: http://www.wannabebig.com/diet-and-n...a-single-meal/

Otto Jul 6th, 2011 10:48 PM

So I've been working more hours for the past few weeks than I'm used to, which has given me a lot of extra spending money. I'm thinking of blowing most of it on this:
http://www.maopost.com:8000/wcat=mao...wreq=maoartpre

For the base picture, I'm either going with this one or maybe this one. I still need to e-mail them to find out if they can include my cigarette holder and my dog in the final painting.

It's a shame they don't do world war 2 posters, since most of my friends say I look like a fat hitlerbaby.

Steak egg and cheese bagel with hash browns and a large coffee from the McDonald's Drive-thru. Then go to sleep.

no u

again with the fatness. were you exercising and eating a normal amount of calories before you got depressed? no. no you were not.

you acted unconscionably, then you got depressed, then you got fat. the 2nd and 3rd steps aren't even really related; fatness and depression are only linked because they're symptoms of the same problem, and also because it's depressing to look in a mirror.

if you were to eat well and exercise well for a month, you would feel much better. of course at this point it's a catch-22. i needed an epiphany to get me started, but i'm hoping abuse over the internet will have to do for you.

i'd be willing to bet you've never eaten well and the intake exceeded your growth at that age. most people don't have a clue what to feed themselves, let alone their children. also lol @ saying "i used to be fit/happy" and then referencing being 10 yrs old, gtfo. it wasn't a case of change then; you were always like that.

So faggots, how's not being on drugs working out for you? Are you enjoying your tubby sobriety? Huh?

@Chojin: I've been making a haphazard effort to be more physically active lately, but I'm probably doing it wrong. My favorite thing is just going out and running/jogging a few miles while pretending I'm getting chased by Daleks, but I'm afraid that'll make my thighs balloon up like OAO, and after about a month I'm not seeing a lot of changes in my figure. I guess my stomach is slightly flatter. I know this is going to rage the shit out of you but I haven't bothered with any sort of special muscle diet because fuck that, I already can't eat anything except grapefruit and almonds.

Still not sure whether it's possible to become fit without turning into an absolute lunatic.

I guess I could check out that sticky on /fit/ if you think it'd help.

I looked at /ana/ on 420chan a few times, but I now realize that I am the only person who has ever posted on that site that also has more than 5 working brain cells

Edit: Ok, so I read /fit/'s thingie, and I guess all I have to do is not eat like a retard, run to the gym for a cardio warm up, then do however many bench presses and squats are appropriate for a withering heroin addict before running back home. I'm about a D1 on that grid they posted, aiming for A2. LET'S DO THIS BRO

Today I found out that if I take too much Celexa (citalopram) it makes me hallucinate. I think I can manage a few days without it if it means that I get to see blob monsters and watch the woodgrain on my walls move around. Also: snorting dextroamphetamine. Awesome.

Guitar Woman Jul 7th, 2011 10:23 PM

Abusing anti-depressants for hallucinogenic effects does not sound dangerous to your brain cells in any way shape or form, nope

Otto Jul 7th, 2011 10:46 PM

I give no shits.

Fathom Zero Jul 7th, 2011 10:52 PM

You're a good man, Otto.

Otto Jul 7th, 2011 11:00 PM

My binge drinking was probably already harmful to my brain, if anything I'm just speeding up the process and taking out my perception of reality. Maybe if I end up as a drooling vegetable my friends can use me as a coat rack.

What's the plan if your nervous system gets so depressed that you lose control of your bowels?

Otto Jul 8th, 2011 12:19 AM

I would give shits.

Nah, if I managed to get so downhill that I started shitting myself, I would probably just skip straight ahead to blowing my head off with the shotgun. Hopefully it'll be hard to clean up.

Tadao Jul 8th, 2011 12:26 AM

Oh man Otto, I hope this isn't ruining your art. I like your art.

ItalianStereotype Jul 8th, 2011 12:30 AM

You know, Gee Dubya, I don't normally care much for Rippetoe, but SS might be good for you.

Otto Jul 8th, 2011 12:34 AM

No way in hell I'd let my drug abuse and depressive suicide fantasies interfere with my art! If there's one thing I learned from Hunter Thompson, it's that nothing is worse than letting your art die before you do. I can forgive the man for killing himself, but the last couple of books he put out before he finally pulled the trigger were just boring and painful to read.

If anything my relapse is just putting me a little behind my in creative schedule. I've done some pretty neat shit, like my shrine and my specimen jars, but just haven't had the motivation to draw in a while. But once I get my sleep schedule normalized and get some sort of street drug in me, I should be posting some new drawings very soon.

If anything these should serve as primary inspirations!

Is there any reason to buy his book if I don't really give a shit about being hueg? That wiki looks like it has everything I ought to need, but then again I don't know dick about exercising so yeah
