I kinda liked Operation Anchorage...

killer7 is fucking weird but i kinda like it

I think I liked Fallout 3's story and settings better, but I liked the actual weapons and system better in New Vegas. Mash 'em together, and I'd be very very happy.

The last few hours, I just went back and forth between the fire by the smith near the church and the chruch itself, killing the skelly-knight over and over to upgrade some of my stuff...sadly I canīt ascend my weapons because I need some Ember for that...any idea where that thing might be? Oh and I got my 10 copy of Rage the other day. Itīs...very good but I donīt know why it is good...it SHOULD be bad by all means...weird. |

Jesus Christ, Oxblood. My whole life has been a blur. Since I got it Tuesday afternoon, I have spent 56 of the past 90 hours playing it. I don't know if I'll ever see color properly again.
Honestly, I just ran back and forth from area to area, pushing a little bit at a time in each direction, similar to how I did it with the different worlds in Demon's Souls. I know that after the twin Gargoyles, I went back to Firelink and poked around in the Catacombs for a long time. I may have killed the boss there, during that push. Things there are weak against Divine weapons, by the way. After that, I went back to the smith, ran around the Titan, because I couldn't kill it yet, and I went into Darkroot Basin, exploring around there. The Hydra freaked me out, so I ran in the other direction and came across a Black Knighht standing in front of a tunnel. That tunnel opened up a bunch of things. More than anything in this game, I love the sensation of falling down the ravbit hole, as it were - barrelling down a tunnel, constantky moving forward, seeing how deep and how lost you can get. At some point, you'll probably need the Basement Key, unless you've got that Skeleton Key item. That key should be your next goal, after poking around a bit. I can't remember where to find it, but the info should be available online. My mind is going numb from the constant running. I'm Level 74, I think. :eek |

I say I think because I haven't been able to find the dude that enchants weapons yet. Or he's dead. I can't find any information on him, unfortunately. With the Divine Weapons, though, I went to the bonfire in the Depths and ground the slimes for a short while. They don't drop souls, but they do drop Large Titanite Shards and Green Titanite Shards. They do it pretty frequently, too. So now I have a Divine Lucerne +9 (it requires a White Titanite Slab to cap off, which I haven't found) that does 200 or so damage to pretty much every enemy and a potential to do another hundred if the enemy happens to be weak to Holy damage. Also, don't make the mistake I did and make a Raw Weapon. They're stupid, especially since you say you've already finished the Depths. You're gonna need that Divine Damage. |
Yeah I build myself a divine Longsword a while ago (though I´m going for a strength-build I think) simply because I love the utility a longsword offers (thrust, slash, good range when two-handed) and I like it so far. Right now I´m back at the Asylum farming 20.000 souls for the...well, the farmingspot in the woods, the I´ll go back to the deptsh for the slimes and their greentitanite :)
I beat up the Moonlight Butterfly yesterday and I have to say, the mood the music creates for that fight is just eerie. This faceless, calm enemy, just slowly flying around you...that was way more creepy than any other boss so far, yes creepier than the gaping dragon...which I beat with two other guys so the honor of killing is not really mine... |
I have to say - it's both exciting and exasperating to have to do all this without any sort of guide. Take that experience of being the one of the first handful of people to be as far into the game as I am, then also considering that it's probably one of the most difficult video games ever, and it's rather nerve-fraying. I'm only able to play it for an hour or an hour and a half at a time since the day before yesterday.
EDIT: I made a graph detailing my experience so far. |
I think I killed 3 Bosses today...The Blighttown Boss, the Hydra and the Catacombs Boss AND I joined the Covenant there and got a sweet Sword :) Oh, the second Asylum Demon too, so 4 Bosses. Not bad.
But I fucking HATE the catacombs and the giants graveyard too. "Hey, we made the Catacombs pretty dark, it´s hard to see anything, what should we do with the next area?" -"Oh, I know! Let´s make it totally pitch-black!" Fucktards, really now. I just don´t know where to go next. I could go to: The forest again Sen´s Fortress The demon ruins or The Giant´s Graveyard I don´t wanna go to Sen´s yet, that dungeon is fucking awful as far as I can see... |
I HAVEN'T EVEN BEATEN THE FUCKING TAURUS DEMON YET. >:
FUCKING HELL
The Giant's Tombs are fucking awful. You use the lantern you pick of the necromancers to light up the area, but you equip it in your left hand, which leaves you without a shield. It's also an endgame area, anyway, so you'll just kill yourself over and over unless you care to grind for White Titanite Chunks. In that case, the flailing bone pillars drop it on occasion and it's not very far from the bonfire there.
The Demon's Ruins are also part of the endgame. I'm there right now and I had to fight about three bosses to get to the dude I really need to kill. I'm so playing this mthrfckr online soon, because there's gonna be a ton of people needing help and I can score some free humanitude. You can actually run into the water by the Hydra and if you go back far enough, you run into a golden golem that you should kill. You'll get something good out of it. Also, going back to the forest and killing the wolf, as well as finding the enchanted ember would be useful. Sen's is going to be the next area you must go to, so prepare well and upgrade the blacksmith's bonfire as much as you can because you're going to need a lot of estus flasks. In my game, I got a legendary sword by forging a +10 Broken Short Sword with the Wolf's soul. It's quite useful, but the required attributes are pretty high. And I've been so used to my Lucerne that having such a short range feels so weird. But it does give me something to use my Demon Titanite on, so it'll be pretty useful soon. Sam, do an attack jumping off of the tower you can climb up. I'm told that's what most people are doing. But I just rolled around a lot and was finally able to take him down. There's a later part in the game where you fight seven at a time, though, so I'd get used to slugging it out if I were you. You'll have better weapons at that point, but still. |
Right after I posted that I did the dive with a Battle Axe, then finished the fight rolling backwards in knight armor and throwing fire bombs. FIRE BOMBS WORKED VERY WELL, AND I WISH I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF IT LAST NIGHT.
Now I'm on the bridge with that damn dragon. I got the Drake Sword but I'm wondering if I can arrow him to death. |
You don't need to go that way and you can get past him later. You go through the bridge under him.
I beat one of the Lord bosses. It was fucking difficult, logistically. I won't spoil anything, though. I made it through the Duke's Archives, which is where another one of them is. In the Crystal Caves place now. WHO THE FUCK THINKS INVISIBLE FLOORS IS A VALID DESIGN DECISION? >: |
I might get that game, but I was also considering Gears of War 3 and that Castlevania game that came out last year. SAM, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
So I guess I´ll first go to the forest, then to Sen´s. I put my Demon Titanite in my Gravelord Sword. Just wanted to check a Player Note and then bam - the Gravlord himself.
BTW, I think it was pretty stupid to enable all the online features only when you´re human. NO ONE is human in this game, why would you be? It´s not like it´ll last longer than 10mins anyway... |
Quote:
As for the other two, I suppose it's down to whether you like shooters or RPGs more. Both have great online modes, but there is a danger there for Dark Souls' online to drop off after a while when people have traded it in, whereas there's always gonna be people to play with on Gears. So get Dark Souls sooner, I guess. Not that I'd begrudge someone their love for Gears. The bits I've played with my friend are spot on. |
Quote:
I did spend pretty much all of Demon's Souls in soul form, though, so I dunno. The Gravelord Sword is wicked though I wish I could get more of those Eyes so I can rank up and get that other thing from him. Did you happen to find the way to the Catacombs' blacksmith? He does Fire and Chaos weapons - the embers of which you get in the Demon Ruins. The Chaos Ember is where the Ceaseless Discharge died in the lava and the Flame Ember is a ways past the Capra and Taurus Demons in addition to the millipede-type things that break your weapons with their acid. It's in a chest down a path to the left of the orange door that'll open up after you run through Sen's Fortress and Anor Londo. |
I found the Catacombs Blacksmith by accident, yeah but it will be a fucking pain to get to him if I´m not in the Catacombs...and I HATE that place, I really hate it. What does he need a flame ember for though, he already does Flame weapons when you meet him...?
Concerning the Eyes...the Toads in the sewers drop those...another one of those enemies that was made out to be sooo horrible...none of them ever gave me problems. Their Curse-Mist takes them forever to do so you can just kill them without any resistance whatsoever. Classic death this morning before work: Worked my way through Sen´s until I stumbled across a chest. Now I knew Mimics were in the game so, smart as I am, I attacked the chest and wouldn´t you know it, it was a Mimic. The fight went really well, then I rolled backwards down a bottomless shaft and died. Fuck. I bet that Mimic had the lightning-spear I read about. |
Oh yeah, that's why I don't have that weapon. Fuck. Same exact thing happened to me. Fortunately, you can forge lightning weapons later, so you can survive without it now. From what I hear thouh, everyone online has one and they just pump all of their stats into endurance and turtle behind a shield with the lightning spear and poke you do death. Assholes. I'm trying to think of a decent counter. The Giant Fire Ball pyromancy seems to work well against all things.
Can´t you just kick their shields or backstab them? I haven´t had any invaders yet and 8 out of 10 summonings fail too but then again, as I said, I´m never in Human form anyway so who cares :D
Also, I read somewhere that the Eye of Death stuff that you´re supposed to do as a Servant of the Gravelord simply doesn´t work. I´ve only tried it once and I just died a few minutes later because well, I´m not gonna sit around waiting for other people to invade me so some skeleton killed me while I was walking around... A nice little thing though: If you die while cursed, your statue appears in other peoples games, that´s where these leafy statues in the sewers come from :) |
I LOVED Darksiders, though. I'm kinda torn. I guess I'll just grab whichever I see first. Except for Gears, which I'll get after the price goes down; I'm only interested in that one for the story--never was big into Gears multiplayer.
I think you could have a lot of fun with Dark Souls, then. I'm just usually hesitant to recommend it to people because of its difficulty, not all of which is balanced. Most of the time, deaths are pretty cheap.
But the online in Dark Souls is really cool and persistant. It's also damn near a third of the game, too, considering all of the signs on the ground, ghosts of other players, and all of the covenant quests that require you to help or fight other people in some way. I let my XBL lapse, so I'm kinda sad and lonely right now, but I'm gonna pick up one o' them three month cards soon. |
I got Dark Souls but haven't played it yet. It sounded good anyway, but Castlevania is like $20 at Best Buy (which is not where I was), and Gears 3 was not worth the price tag, considering I'd only spend 10-15 hours with it. I'll pick up CV later on and Gears 3 when it's a Platinum Hit, or something.
What kinda sucks is that Arkham City will be out soon, and then Skyrim follows that. Too many big fucking games. |
Between Gears 3 and Castlevania...pick Castlevania it´s the better game by far. And no, I don´t care about the online and be honest, you already have Gears 3 two times already, just with other numbers at the end ;)
Sadly, I have to pick and choose games now too. I had saved up 600 dollars to spend on all the games I'd love, but then I had to have surgery. Now I've made a list of what I get, and then pick up the rest when they're cheaper. It goes->
Gears 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Saint's Row 3. |
I played some battlefield 3 this past saturday night. Ended up talking to this guy that sounded like Paul Scheer. Now he's super annoying though.
holy crap arkham city's only a week away :eek :eek :eek :eek :eek
Yeah, Arkham City was a hard one to cut from my list, but I can only get four. I'll be playing it in december probably.
I made a thief for my first character. Good?
You can unlock a ton of doors early on, which is pretty useful. I dunno how good the Thief is otherwise, though. I started as a Deprived because I wanted the flat stats to build anything on.
I think you can get the Pyromancy Flame from the start if you have the Skeleton Key. It's a good thing to have if you don't want to build a magic user because the power of the spells doesn't scale off of any stats, but rather how mnay times you've upgraded the flame with souls. And, as I said in my little thing above, the final boss practically necessitates it. |
I went back and switched to Bandit. MO' AXIN'!
What game are you guys talking about? That new demon souls game?
Dark Souls, brah. Shit's crazy in here.
Holy shit, this game is fucking unforgiving. I can't recall a game where I've died so many fucking times in the part immediately after the tutorial. THOSE FUCKING SKELETONS KEEP COMING, AND THEN I ACCIDENTALLY WALK CLOSE ENOUGH TO WAKE UP MORE! I'm trying to steal whatever it is that the giant one and his little buddies are protecting, though.
It's either the Binoculars or the Zweihander, from what I remember. If you're into two-handed greatswords, it'll be kickass.
Otherwise, you're not even supposed to go that way, not that the game tells you that. :lol |
Well, I ended up in the catacombs at one point, but then I made a swift retreat because I wanted to get that fucking treasure.
Hate the Catacombs. Evil lives down there, man.
I still haven't beaten the last boss. He's still cheap as all hell. But I found a suit of armor, (Havel's), that'll help eventually. I just need to level my endurance so I can actually wear the damn thing and keep mobile. |
I'm in that town full of dead things, and evidently there's some bosses in the area. I really wish I could sell this shit that I keep finding. I can't use the scimitar or zweihander effectively, but I don't wanna just drop them.
Don't drop them! You'll be able to sell them eventually. That was actually the thing I hated most about Demon's Souls. At the end of the game, if you didn't regularly drop shit, your inventory would get so fucking cluttered. At least this time, you'll get some souls out of it.
Didn´t Demons Souls have a inventory-weight too? I remember having to drop things because I was overburdened...glad they got rid of that, now it´s just cluttered.
But yeah, you can either sell your stuff for (VERY few souls later on) or just stash all that crap into the bottomless box (2k Souls at the second blacksmith). Alright, I let Nito be Nito and switched to Chaos Servant for my active Covenant. Gravelord Sword and Chaos Fireball? Yes please, that thing can twoshot a Taurus Demon more or less :) Speaking of Taurus Demons: What the fuck is going on down in the Demons Ruins? There´s cows everywhere and Capras too. Though I gotta say, Capra Demons are extremely easy if you encounter them alone and have enough space to walk backwards, it´s all you need. 3, 4 hits with the Gravelord and they go down. I also found a fire ember and I don´t yet know whom to give it to...I suspect, the flame-smith in the Catacombs? I still hate that place! But it reminds me that I wanted to get another flame-weapon, I just have a Flame-Morningstar, simply because it was the only upgradable weapon I had on me when I discovered the blacksmith... And I´m still trying to stall going to Sen´s or New Londo but...apart from the forest and the valley of drakes, there´s nothing...wait, there´s this secret area in the giant tree! AHA! |
The Hollow is cool, but Ash Lake is fucking beautiful. Wait'll you see it. Same thing with the endgame Kiln area. Some of the most beautiful, haunting environments in any game ever. And you'd be correct - both the Flame and Chaos Flame Embers go to the Catacombs blacksmith.
And I have a Lightning katana-type now. It's better than the Estoc, but each swing uses more stamina. I think I might use it when I try to pick apart the endboss. And at the level I was at when I went back to the Demon Ruins for realsies, I just hit the Capra Demons three times with my Divine Lucerne and they crumbled. :) Make sure to get to the second level of the Chaos covenant AS FAST AS YOU CAN. There's an important guy might die if you don't. |
I've been fucking around in Undead Burg for a while. I got chainmail and leveled my guy up to 15, but I need a better weapon. This battle axe is good, but I'm trying to take out that guy at the bottom of the spiral staircase; he kills me in one hit, so I unequip all of my armor and dash around his attacks, but I'm doing fuck all for damage and he eventually clips me. Son of a bitch.
The Taurus Demon? As I understand it, you can just grab a bunch of firebombs and toss them down at him from above. Or are you talking about the guy with the giant club that looks like a talon? That guy is called Havel and you are in no shape to fight him. Yer literally tens of hours away from killing him.
Yeah, the club guy. I'm not gonna stop until I take that son of a bitch down.
I think I killed Havel with a Butchers Cleaver+10 and I still donīt get what the fuzz is about, the guy is slow as a mountain and never even hit me...maybe he didnīt use all his skills when I fought him (was around level 30 I guess but all that counted in that fight is that I was medium speed with around 24 Str with said Cleaver...as I said, same with the frogs. Big buildup and nothing to back it up *shrugs*
Yeah, he killed me once, but I thrashed him shortly thereafter.
I'm wearing his armor now so I can fight the endboss. The whole set is about 60-something, though, so I'm just using everything but the helm. Instead, I'm wearing a helm that gives me some more equip load. Now I'm a big medium-speed dude with a huge weapon and a lot of poise. I'm going to rock this guy. |
YES. I AM A WINNAR. I'M THE BEST, MAN. FUCK YOU, GWYN.
91 hours and 47 minutes of the past 6 1/2 days and I beated it.
NG+ now. Yay. |
I saw a video before the game came out of a guy who got the game on before release and beat the first boss with his fists. He kept punching it in the ass over and over. It took about 40 minutes.
It looked like he got a special item or weapon or something for beating it that way. |
I killed Havel. Then I went into some Dark Basin place, through a door that he was guarding, and saw some horribly tough ice monster guys, so I ran back into Undead Burg until I get some fire weapons.
They're crystal golems. Not sure if they're meant to be icy, but they're related to stuff later in game. I never tried any fire weapons on them, though, so that'd be pretty interesting. You were also very close to a Hydra, too. If you wandered close to the golems, that was what would've been shooting at ya.
I got the Drake sword.
ON A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUY THIS GAME
eleventy-six
I killed a black knight and got his sword. Boooo ya!
What are your thoughts on the game, Zomboid? Are you digging it?
I'm pretty hooked. It's fun. It seems like leveling up doesn't do a whole fuck of a lot, though.
Well, as far as I know, the cap for the stats is 99. So the theoretical level cap is 792.
I'd be driven mad to do that, though. |
I've come across the blacksmith after killing the fuck out of everything in the undead parish. I'm looking around, trying to find a way to get behind or above that drake so I can fuck it up.
As you climb up the ladder by the rats, there's a spiral staircase that you fight a Black Knight at the top of. He drops a chunk, btw. You should be able to take out the dragon from there.
Yeah, that's the black knight whose sword I took. I've picked up a few things for upgrading swords and armor. The dragon is...kinda far away from there. There's one spot that allow me to drop down, and I just land on the wrong side of the portcullis.
Bummer. You should be able to shoot him with arrows from that gap, though.
In my game, I hit him once with an arrow and he glitched out, screamed, and disappeared, leaving me with a bunch of souls and no Drake Sword. :( |
I tried to hit him from there, but he disappeared. Fucker. I got some keys and went down into the bottom part of Undead Burg. I explored everywhere, rescued a sorcerer, and eventually went through some fog to get raped by the Capra Demon. I went through and was instantly in a fucking boss fight.
:lol
The Darkroot Garden and the boss there are a bit easier. Afterward, you get a Divine ember that'll let you upgrade weapons further. |
Yeah, I went there instead; I can easily get back to the Capra Demon later by taking the shortcut from that one main hub. Still, I was pissing around in the garden and got killed by a giant guy in armor and some frogs...that's when I turned it off for the night.
What's the deal with the weapons? Is there even a sword better than the drake sword?
Not early on, but the Drake Sword doesn't scale with any attributes, so it becomes useless the further into the game you get. Whereas other weapons have stat bonuses the more you have of a certain attribute.
Ok, I got Dark Souls due to you guys' incessant loving up all over it. I'm only going to play it for a couple of hours a day because it sounds like a pretty depressing game and I'm plenty depressed as it is. I'll start it later.
i want dark souls i freaking loved demon's souls and honestly once you have a mastery of the mechanics is a fairly easy game
Quote:
You won't put it down until you beat it the first time. Then you take a looooong break like m'self.
Fathom I thought you were too poor to own a console made after the 90s
I traded in like a bajillion games
And look! Team Fortress had a massive update. One game to another. Good thing I'm off from work.
Yeah, I played for about 4 hours today. Didn't get too far when I look back at it. And it doesn't seem like leveling up does much. I lost about 4000 souls, which is a lot for me when I walked into the taurus boss mist without thinking about it. Then died on the way back the 4th time I didn't kill him.
Yeah, I lost a bunch when I walked into the battle with that giant butterfly. WHEN WILL I LEARN?
What kind of poison do those mice give? The ones before the warthog. The first time I fought them, I got poisoned for reals. The second time it just showed a purple drop and nothing was happening. So I just walked it off. I'm a bandit and I got the spider shield that negates poison (I think), so that might be it. But no idea. I thought I was pretty clever today when I got one of those bad skeleton knights stuck climbing the ladder down as I whooped him in the ass over and over til he died.
If the bar accumulates enough, you become poisoned. Either bar falls off after a while.
Good to know. I totally freaked out and the next time instead of wandering into the den of rats that all bite me at once, I pulled them out one at a time very carefully. The game is fun and not as depressing as I thought it would be.
X-Men Destiny is 5 hours long. Is Silicon Knights even trying anymore?
Did anyone play Rage? How was it?
One of the things you're missing if you don't play Dark Souls online is all of the helpful advice people give you. Like when I'm going to a possible dark spot and I see someone scrawled a note. I check it and it says "need head". Good advice! That's what a lot of people tend to put. My favorite happens to be "head ahead". I eventually gave in and when bored at a campfire I jotted down my own. A solitary "head". Hopefully someone will read it and be enlightened on what to do next.

And Blood Omen. Their track records damn good, Too Human and now X-men Destiny are their only flops I know about (I haven't played either). Not sure why they've started turning out garbage.
Soooo, my XBL got hacked and hijacked to buy FIFA-Crap. Great. It´s just 12 bucks but still, I can´t use that Gamertag for a few weeks now...hmpf.
It happened to me a while back. They charged 150 dollars worth of microsoft points to my account. It was horrible and it took them 2 months to get it sorted out.
Killed the Capra Demon, the Bell Gargoyles, and the Moonlight Butterfly. I'm also rocking some pretty awesome armor that I got from those knights with the rapiers.
I have killed all 3 of those too. I'm on the Gaping Dragon. I've managed to get him down pretty far before dying too, so I know it's possible with my equipment. I'm using a +5 Halberd and a grass-something shield which gives me faster stamina boost. As for armor, just regular leather right now. After killing the moonlight butterfly I got the fuck out of that area, as the giant/plant combos were killing me too much. I'll go back after I do some other junk. This gaping dragon is pretty mean though. Not as mean as whatever the thing was that was almost one-shotting me with water while I was killing crystal golems.

I think he meant it was horrible spending that time trying to get his account restored and the fraudulent charges taken off his credit card.
It was pretty easy getting the charges taken off by going to the bank. Waiting for microsoft to get them back to me didn't work. I waited over a month for microsoft before just going to the bank and getting them reversed that day. The thing that made it horrible was that I couldn't play online with my account for those 2 months. When any multiplayer game would come out. Sure, I could create another account, but really didn't feel the need to. That said, I still like using xbox live more than any other service.
