Zero Punctuation

There's this really funny guy who does reviews on video games, though he hardly ever gives positive ones, except for the ones that really deserve it.

Link to his stuffs:

Yeah, I've seen plenty of Mr. Yahtzee. Bang up job becoming an e-celebrity, but what's more impressive is how he's maintained his "negative vibes from an angry Brit" schtick without losing fans when he trashes games they like. They just change their opinion from "Yahtzee is always right!" to "It's all just for fun, no one takes this seriously!" as it suits them. What I'm saying is, Yahtzee has done the best job of keeping his e-celebrity status since Piro and Tycho/Gabe.

Usually, he's pretty funny. Sometimes not. The mix between nitpicky and good analysis is random with each review.

He's really Australian.

And where the hell is Guitar Woman to elaborate more on this?

O rly?

From the website:
Yahtzee is a British-born, currently Australian-based writer and gamer

DuFresne Jan 13th, 2008 01:22 PM

I don't think we've ever had a thread about this!

Seriously, is a little search that hard to do?

Emu Jan 13th, 2008 01:53 PM

Way to be late to the party :rolleyes

There's a difference between saying "He's Australian" and "He lives in Australia". He's still an angry Brit. He just has better weather to rant in.

Splitting hairs is fun. A-yup.

Guitar Woman Jan 13th, 2008 05:04 PM

Guys Zero Punctuation is awesome and anyone who doesn't watch these reviews should start because they're hilarious and informative

Esuohlim Jan 13th, 2008 06:10 PM

This guy sounds exactly like my British uncle :x

Guitar Woman Jan 13th, 2008 06:20 PM

I don't like when people classify him as some hate speech giving angry jerk; he's not. He has a certain standard games have to meet with in order for him to consider them not shitty, and the stuff he picks on in his reviews are the kinds of things I generally hate, too.

He's the only professional reviewer I'll listen to these days.

Emu Jan 13th, 2008 06:28 PM

People are actually calling it "hate speech?"

Guitar Woman Jan 13th, 2008 06:34 PM

well, no, but they get really pissed off when he trashes a game they love.

Like Mass Effect.

Emu Jan 13th, 2008 06:40 PM

He wouldn't be half as entertaining if he didn't trash good or popular games

MarioRPG Jan 13th, 2008 08:07 PM

He also makes the Trilby games :D

executioneer Jan 13th, 2008 09:42 PM

i dig how he tries to push the limits of AGS to make some really neat games :(

Jemry Jan 15th, 2008 07:03 AM

Plus he totally digs Tim Schaffer, which earns him atleast 50 points.

executioneer Jan 15th, 2008 12:45 PM

man and i completely missed the fact that he was going to visit valve's offices in seattle, i coulda gone up and given him high-fives until i passed out

DuFresne Jan 15th, 2008 01:11 PM

I guess newbietown is somewhere in Washington?! :lol :lol

executioneer Jan 15th, 2008 03:21 PM

yeah its better known as lacey, WA

MarioRPG Jan 15th, 2008 03:47 PM

His games are fun and creative :)

Jquick Jan 17th, 2008 05:46 PM

He has some pretty good reviews. I actually find them quite tasteful in their own distasteful way, like Taco Bell.

Fat_Hippo Jan 18th, 2008 05:33 PM

I've watched a couple of his reviews and they really are damn funny!
