mspaint dump.

I like to share the stuff I make in MSPaint with others, so I'm going to do that here.

Some of them I really like and some I don't like so much and want to re-do somewhere down the line.

(Also a lot of these have been posted before in the gen.chat thread)

stevetothepast Dec 15th, 2009 03:22 PM

good show ol chap.

Tadao Dec 15th, 2009 03:27 PM

I like the disco seals

Aaarg Dec 15th, 2009 05:47 PM

ThanksX2.

Haha, the lady of the house said they look like seals, too. They were originally meant to be stylized lions, but they really only can be related in the one with the other lion in it.

The Leader Dec 15th, 2009 06:48 PM

I just thought that that was a picture of a seal and a lion, not two lions. :(

Aaarg Dec 15th, 2009 06:51 PM

Sea lion's close enough! Haha.

Tadao Dec 15th, 2009 06:51 PM

It's a sealion!

Dr. Boogie Dec 15th, 2009 06:51 PM

The "bountiful harvest" one makes me think of Ice Age.

Whenever I see "mspaint" in an art thread, I always think of the stuff I can draw in mspaint. Then I go into the thread and see that there's actual cool shit in it.

Tadao Dec 15th, 2009 06:51 PM

:lol

Ok, now it makes more sense.

10,000 Volt Ghost Dec 15th, 2009 06:52 PM

I'm bad at computer drawing but I've been wanting to make a Nelson Mandala picture.

Aaarg Dec 15th, 2009 07:05 PM

"a bountiful harvest / a thrilling discovery" (probably the only one with an official title!) was inspired by a squirrel crossing the street in front of me one day. I like it a lot, but probably because it's very silly and also I love silhouette pictures.

Sea lion, nothin'! Sure, good enough! Haha.

Rough draft of a part of a future picture:

Tadao Dec 15th, 2009 07:10 PM

Did you work for Sierra? Joke :lol

Aaarg Dec 15th, 2009 07:30 PM

yeh it's quite silly.

But the ROUGH rough draft is this:

bigtimecow Dec 16th, 2009 12:56 AM

the rough draft is now my background :)

Aaarg Dec 16th, 2009 03:09 AM

sweeeeet

kahljorn Dec 17th, 2009 05:56 PM

i want to add
http://images.webmagic.com/klov.com/...R/xRampage.png
to the rough draft but im lazy

Aaarg Dec 17th, 2009 06:08 PM

Haha I totally saw Rampage a few times while looking at it.

Anyway the whole city idea has to be re-done entirely.

Tadao Dec 17th, 2009 06:14 PM

Really? I like it.

Aaarg Dec 17th, 2009 06:36 PM

Well not entirely, those buildings will be used but I have to make at least twice as many. I think there's eleven now, including the tower.

Basically I just need to add variety, maybe make two alternating layers to break it up a bit.

And then of course I have to figure out a way I want to make clouds.

Aaarg Jan 9th, 2010 10:52 PM

or a color change

are you using vista/win7's mspaint or the old version? the new mspaint is actually a decent image creator/editor

Aaarg Jan 10th, 2010 11:07 AM

Thanks!

I'm currently using Win7 version, but I would prefer an older version.

I don't use any of the new features, and they've changed some things around that, uh, probably only I would notice. I don't use any of the new brushes and the anti-alias stuff would make it impossible to do a lot of the stuff I do. I made a quick "sketch" while high one night and fucked it up because i didn't realize I forgot to change it off the anti-alias brush. I can see why people like the new stuff, and some of them are pretty cool, it's just not for me.

Though the line tool, now, is much better. It's also quicker to access the "rotate/flip selection" options.

And speaking of modern Paint, I inspired someone on another forum to open Paint and screw around. He used the new stuff and made a very cool Bob-Rossy type scene.

Aaarg Jan 13th, 2010 10:56 PM

Chojin Jan 14th, 2010 06:09 AM

new paint also lets you save in high quality formats that aren't .bmp, and also lets you resize images. it's nice.

Aaarg Jan 14th, 2010 07:17 AM

You could always resize in Paint! It just looks like shit.

I noticed the default is .png rather than .bmp, which I'm definitely cool with. Saving the stuff I do as .gif fucks 'em up in Paint, so that's the only thing I use something else for (Gimp!).

Aaarg Jan 15th, 2010 08:09 PM

Companion piece to the smokestacks one...

Tadao Jan 17th, 2010 01:50 AM

i like it the best, but you knew that

Aaarg Jan 17th, 2010 09:41 AM

sweet, thanks. I'm still unsure as to whether or not I like it. haha.

hvgnwltrvl Jan 20th, 2010 09:00 PM

those owls are rad.

Aaarg Jan 22nd, 2010 08:42 AM

sweeeeeeet--thanks!

Aaarg Jan 29th, 2010 10:11 AM

I haven't really been doing any drawings or anything, just patterns, color-things, and stuff like that.
It's kind of bumming me out but at the same time I'm making plenty of simple things that I like a lot.

Aaarg Feb 13th, 2010 07:47 PM

More of the same, nothing spectacular, just time-wasters.

Wish I had more motivation.

stevetothepast Feb 14th, 2010 12:11 AM

I like te owls the best aarrrg, long time no see, btw

Aaarg Feb 14th, 2010 08:59 AM

Thanks.

Yeah I don't post here too much.

Aaarg Feb 21st, 2010 10:20 AM

another batch, more patterns, same stuff.

captain516 Feb 21st, 2010 03:34 PM

Love that third from last one. Makes me want to get windows 7.

Grislygus Feb 21st, 2010 03:39 PM

I don't really have anything to say but I need to record that I approve of this thread

CARRY ON

Aaarg Feb 21st, 2010 05:08 PM

Thanks, guys!

These are totally do-able in older versions of Paint. The only thing Win7's Paint provided for these was easy-and-convenient shapes (hexagon, triangle, six-point star, and diamond!). And I've obviously been getting a lot of use out of the curve tool that I never bothered to mess around with before.

Here's something!

Styled after a painting hanging in my room that my housemate did years ago.

Aaarg Feb 22nd, 2010 06:21 PM

Tadao Feb 22nd, 2010 06:35 PM

I would use a lot of your designs as liner for a music cd.

Aaarg Feb 22nd, 2010 07:37 PM

A friend said he wants to use the screaming guy one on the back of an album. I'd be all about it, even though his music sucks.

Tadao Feb 22nd, 2010 07:55 PM

which one is that?

I would use

As liners, probably just one of them and I would crop this next one for a cover.

Aaarg Feb 23rd, 2010 06:37 PM

Make an album, son!

also this one:

Tadao Feb 23rd, 2010 06:50 PM

Oh hehehe, too hep for me.

Aaarg Feb 23rd, 2010 07:09 PM

The friend described it as such:
"Go. is the coolest thing the t-shirt could say.
very powerful statement even if you don't think you've made it. even if it's in a lackadaisical manner or something. it's big. it makes as little sense as "Be Coming Up It" but you get the general sense that life is all about being bad ass as however you define bad ass."

But he's a bit strange.

Tadao Feb 23rd, 2010 07:16 PM

Aaarg Mar 5th, 2010 09:03 AM

This one is big: it has a lot of intentional pictures and a lot of unintentional ones.
This one is also big: same pattern as above, but... different.

Nobody's said anything? Strange.

Those are very cool, even if they make my eyes hurt a lot.

Aaarg Mar 21st, 2010 07:21 PM

yeah, nobody ever says anything on here.

thanks! which ones make your eyes hurt?

Fathom Zero Mar 21st, 2010 08:05 PM

Bright, neon colors blur a little in my eyes. It's a general thing.

BUT I LIKE IT, BUT I LIKE IT. Don't misunderstand.

Aaarg Mar 22nd, 2010 07:24 PM

Ah, sweet, thanks.

Yeah, sometimes I don't like the colors from far away and on a different screen. We tend to plug my laptop into the TV to listen to music and watch stuff online, and the desktop is always something I do. A lot of times they blend or do obnoxious things.

Grislygus Mar 23rd, 2010 06:17 PM

The Best

Aaarg Mar 23rd, 2010 06:24 PM

sweet, yeah, I like that one. Thanks!

Fathom Zero Mar 23rd, 2010 06:50 PM

I disagree. Purple things are better.

Aaarg Mar 24th, 2010 07:57 AM

i definitely have a special affection for the green/purple combination.

jhonnyD2 Mar 24th, 2010 11:28 AM

it's great job ... as i think at least

Aaarg Mar 24th, 2010 03:19 PM

thanks dude.

Aaarg Mar 25th, 2010 08:30 PM

on the fence re:

Fathom Zero Mar 25th, 2010 08:35 PM

Okay, those look even cooler.

Aaarg Mar 25th, 2010 08:55 PM

haha, really? i don't like 'em too much--the tree one, i do, but that's because the photographic element isn't the main attraction.

also i used the tree as the pattern in the background of the white parts to give 'em a different texture, which i like. you can't tell because it's... modified.

i guess to me these have a sort of a "collage" feel which i am unsure about. but i have a feeling i'll come across something cool if i keep it up, so i probably will a few times.

sorry, i ramble.

thank you, though! i'm glad you like!

Fathom Zero Mar 25th, 2010 09:09 PM

The tree is better than your dog. Fo sho'. I think there are too many colors, perhaps, with your dog.

Aaarg Mar 25th, 2010 09:22 PM

yeah, it doesn't help that he's just, like, pasted onto a background.

Fathom Zero Mar 25th, 2010 09:45 PM

ja ja

Aaarg Mar 28th, 2010 07:53 AM

Or a different color scheme.
