Recipe for depression

For some reason, my company has seen fit to mount a 42" plasma screen TV in my department. I am now subjected to CNN bullshit all day long. If anyone feels like sending me some mood-elevating medication, it would be appreciated.

"CNN- We're government-approved news!"

Invest in earplugs. Or a walkman. That always helps.

Yeah. Good one. Because CNN is so very far right on the political spectrum. They're communist there big guy. Rejoice.

Well, I'm a big fan of Lou Dobbs, and I enjoy Crossfire dependant upon who they have as guests. Wolf Blitzer is a sack of shit, and Judy Woodrow frightens me sometimes with her obtuse views.

Back to Dobbs, yes he's conservative, but he abides by a general belief in coporate ethics, and is quick to condemn anyone who abuses the system. He may not be for you, but I'll offer it anyway. Knowing you though, listening to him will only aggrevate you. If I remember correctly, you were of the opinion Jack Welch was in the wrong accepting what he recieved from GE (dispite the fact that he took it from a total networth of 28 Billion and turned it into an over 300 Billion dollar conglomorate).

i'm thinking that maybe sspadowsky is succombing to fits of depression not because cnn is "right" or "left," but because FOR EIGHT HOURS A DAY HE IS GOING TO SEE AND HEAR NOTHING BUT WAR NEWS (government approved or not).

you fuck.

people are going to die and all you can focus on is which side of the spectrum the news is reporting for the day. it's disgusting.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The_Rorschach Mar 19th, 2003 03:42 PM

Not sure who Mr Madison is. . .But the shows I just referenced are on CNN. Just adding my two sense in what was worth watching, and what wasn't. Their news coverage is superficial and redundant (you'll see the same hour broadcast repeated infinately during wartime), so there wasn't much to comment on in that respect. CNN basically reports whatever was handed to them by the Whitehouse PR officials, and cares very little in investigating any of it.

I'm just quoting Adam Sandler's blockbuster, masterpiece, cinematic thriller "Billy Madison"

You should've saved it for an occasion when it was appropriate, next to insanely hilarious. :rolleyes

I'm completely sick of any sort of news regarding the war on Iraq in any way. But when I avoid it, I feel guilty for not even having the decency to keep up with current events while a bunch of people are about to get bombed.

Dont get your panties in a wad Glowbelly. We can handle it. Go back to your Drew Carey and dirty Cleveland life. Pig.

kellychaos Mar 19th, 2003 04:39 PM

Don't worry about it. Even the "hard news" on CNN is government-filtered and sanitized so you won't see any of the nasty, close up parts of the war like people getting blown up and suffering. If the government allowed it, they'd sure as hell show it for the ratings. You can believe that! But showing the grisly stuff would only lead to more public oppostion to the war and we can't have THAT now, can we?!

I feel exactly the same way, Fat Satan. I'm sick to death of hearing about this stuff, all it does is upset me. And yet I feel like it's too fucking important to ignore. The world is changing, people are dying, it's depressing as shit but I have to keep watching it.

What's the probability that you might, um, learn some fucking manners and not be a vile waste of oxygen...?

What Kevin said. Glowbelly is no more a pig than you are a sentient being. :)

So, because it would be ugly and most sane peoiple don't have the stomach for it, it is morally wrong? Does this mean in Normandy was televised, you would have opposed?

These days I'm thinking mankind will spend the end of the world glued to their TV set.

I know I would. :(
