Last Film(s) You Watched

Death at a Funeral
Good English comedy centring on a disastrous funeral. Hardly anyone has seen or heard of this, which is a shame because it's really funny.

Death Sentence
I quite like revenge films and this one was actually rather good. It's a fairly standard affair - son gets killed, Kevin Bacon seeks revenge, things go from bad to worse. What sets it apart is that it remains dark throughout, without any kind of a happy ending for anyone.
Really violent too which is always a plus.

Jackass 2.5
Nothing special here, just a few 'stunts' that weren't good enough to be in the second film. That said, some parts are still funny and if you enjoyed either of the previous films this might be worth a watch.

Ricky Gervais Live 3: Fame
Possibly his best stand-up yet. If you like Gervais this is definitely worth checking out. The humour may be offensive, poor in taste and obnoxious but it's always funny.

I am Legend

Classic case of a film which is a good idea, poorly executed. Impressive scenery and special effects but the acting leaves something to be desired and as a whole the film was underwhelming.

macrodeath Dec 29th, 2007 11:20 AM

Blaah...

Grindhouse: Death proof and Planet terror, Kiki's delivery service, Howl's moving castle, Reeker, Nun, Black sheep, 28 weeks later, Die Hard 1-4, Exit Wounds, The Simpsons movie, Gonin, Spider-man 3.
John Woo movies: Hardboiled, The Killer, Once a Thief, A Better Tomorrow 1-3. Gonna watch couple of Tsui Hark films soon and Clint Eastwood's newest movies are still waiting to be seen. Can't wait for Postal to appear on dvd and i' m also waiting for the Alone in the Dark 2. Yes, i like Uwe Boll movies, he's the most entertaining director, whose movies are crap in a good way, always good for laughs...:bestthread

zeldasbiggestfan Dec 29th, 2007 02:01 PM

Last movie in theater was Juno. At home I watched, for the first time in months, Clerks.

Wild Wallace Dec 29th, 2007 04:47 PM

I Am Legend: Agree 100% with MetalMilitia.:lol
National Treasure 2: It was shit. Nicholas Cage sucks.>:
The Blues Brothers: I got the 25th Anniversary DVD for only $8. This film still rules. Best musical ever.

Bender's Big Score: There was some funny moments. But it ran too long and had too many "plot twists" as filler (Hey guess what, Fry was Lars all along! >:) . It also made me finally long to see SpiderPig.

Cabin Boy: Hilarious. I miss Get A Life.:tear

Kentucky Fried Movie: Hit and miss, but has the best opening scene ever.

Robin Hood Men In Tights: It starts off well, but runs too long for its own good. I only watched this because it was on a double film set with Spaceballs.

Fathom Zero Dec 29th, 2007 05:25 PM

I just watched CPU!

Jeff The Ninja Dec 29th, 2007 08:19 PM

I dont see a lot of movies. So here goes.

Hatchet: See it now. Great slasher flick with a good sense of humor. 4.5 out of 5 belt sanders to the face.

Keras: The Prophecy & Keras: The Revelation: If you dont like anime, dont see these. If you do like anime, dont see these unless you like all flashy CGI fight scenes and no explanation of what the fuck is going on. 1 out of 5 angry letters from Jonathan Clement.

Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny: Unlike most people, i enjoyed this movie, its stupid for the sake of being stupid. 3.5 out of 5 cock push-ups.

Guitar Woman Dec 30th, 2007 05:21 AM

Fight Club!

It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but I loved it a whole lot.

The ending was sweet :<

Mintrude Dec 30th, 2007 07:57 AM

Kill Bill vol.1

Enjoyed it a lot more this time, after I'd got over good chunks of the film being in Japanese.

Blackjack Dec 30th, 2007 10:12 AM

Golden Compass. Man that was weak.

MarioRPG Dec 30th, 2007 01:24 PM

Eraserhead. It was the first time I've seen it. I'm not sure what to think.

Zbu Manowar Dec 30th, 2007 07:50 PM

Right now I'm watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Not that bad.

Yet I'm watching on Lifetime. Which is scary.

Fatacula Dec 31st, 2007 10:10 AM

Yeah, I have to agree with MetalMilitia on "I Am Legend"... on a more positive note just watched the movie "Drive Thru" from 2007. I thought it was great, in a campy sort of way. Horny the Clown was a great villain!! :)

Zombies on Lifetime... well its a step in the right direction!

Spetsnaz Dec 31st, 2007 12:10 PM

Last movies I've watched?

Conan the Barbarian
Arguably the best Sword and Sworcery movie. Evar.

The Shooter
It was a decent film that was actually got the technicalities down, but a weak plot.

The Bourne Ultimatum
Liked the books better....

The Simpsons Movie
Suckers! You paid money for something you could see at home for free.

Zombi
Eye gauging scene ftw!

I Am Legend
This kinda went the road of the Planet of the Apes remake.... Shitty.

BakaGaijin Dec 31st, 2007 12:11 PM

I Am Legend. Meh. Was done better in The Quiet Earth and 28 Days Later. Still, Smith was pretty good.

King Hadas Dec 31st, 2007 01:33 PM

High Plain Drifter - I'd already seen the other two Clint Eastwood directed westerns (Pale Rider, Unforgiven) and naturally assumed this one would be good too and I was right. It's now my favorite revenge type movie because of how Eastwood's character actually goes about avenging himself, his such an asshole in this one.

Jeff The Ninja Jan 1st, 2008 02:31 PM

Ghost Rider - Nicholas Cage shouldnt do superhero movies.

Fathom Zero Jan 1st, 2008 04:37 PM

I'm watching Brubaker! Morgan Freeman goes crazy!

NIN Jan 1st, 2008 05:28 PM

"I am Legend

I agree... I saw this yesterday

Zbu Manowar Jan 2nd, 2008 01:05 PM

I saw some really strange dollar flick called 'Project: Kill' that had Leslie Nielsen (back in his dramatic days) pretending to be this badass commando who goes rogue. Very, very weird.

Emu Jan 2nd, 2008 01:16 PM

sweeny todd

it was gay

gay enough that i couldn't appreciate the irony of sitting in a theater listening to people sing about how profitable cannibalism can be

Fathom Zero Jan 2nd, 2008 03:51 PM

Like a film-version of A Modest Proposal?

TheBigMan045 Jan 2nd, 2008 08:55 PM

Trainspotting:So F'ed up my mum refused to watch it. It stars a younger Ewen McGreggor as a Heroin addict trying to deal with getting off it. Best scene: Tie between "Worst toilet in Scotland" and "Baby on the ceiling"

Fathom Zero Jan 2nd, 2008 08:57 PM

For some reason, I had Trainspotting confused with The Station Agent.

sloth Jan 2nd, 2008 10:27 PM

dead man's shoes. great british movie, good to see film4 swinging their creative bollocks around instead of proferring their bum to the lowest common denominator like they did with the film4 movie channel.

Dead Man's Shoes is one of my favorite films. Shane Meadows latest film This is England is not so good, unfortunately. It does capture something of the 80s which is quite captivating but some parts are really uncomfortable (when the kid gets the 20+ year old girlfriend :x) and as a whole it's quite an unpleasant film.

boshobosho Jan 3rd, 2008 05:22 AM

Balls of Fury, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, The Simpsons Movie (which I actually could only stomach 1/2 an hour of)
I don't see many movies. And I will only go to the theater to see stuff I deem worth paying for. I'm cheap.

Out For Justice, classic Seagal

Vila Jan 4th, 2008 08:07 AM

Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door -- This one will leave you crawling into the shower wanting to boil your skin off.

The Call of Cthulhu by the HPL Historical Socitey -- Pretty much shatters the notion that B films are junk while shattering your sanity.

terrva Jan 4th, 2008 05:53 PM

Hell Comes to Frogtown. AWESOME 80's b-movie. It's about a man named Sam Hell (played by none other than the pro wrestler "Rowdy" Roddy Piper) who just happens to be a fertile man in post nuclear america, getting hired by the army to save a bunch of women from a town inhabited by frog mutants. It's totally great.

Fathom Zero Jan 4th, 2008 06:01 PM

I totally wanted to watch Dead Man's Shoes.

Jeff The Ninja Jan 5th, 2008 12:08 AM

Sweeney Todd - A good movie if you like musicals, and violence, which i do. So it was a damn good movie. Emu can go suck an ass.

WhiteRat Jan 5th, 2008 02:01 AM

Commando Director's Cut.

If you haven't seen this great 80's action flick, I highly recommend you turn off your copy of Bratz: The Movie and pick this shit up.

Mullon Jan 5th, 2008 07:36 PM

I saw The Golden Compass thinking it might be as enjoyable as the book, or at the very least tihnking NIcole Kidman could act in character.

I was so wrong. So terribly wrong.

bigtimecow Jan 6th, 2008 03:48 AM

i just finished watching "primer." probably one of the better movies i've seen about time travel

MetalMilitia Jan 6th, 2008 07:10 AM

Zodiac and Goodfellas.

Zodiac was really good, if a little long. Goodfellas was also enjoyable, though I'd seen it before.

MarioRPG Jan 6th, 2008 08:16 AM

Bubba Ho-Tep.
It was pretty much what I expected. :D

Zomboid Jan 6th, 2008 10:24 AM

The Girl Next Door (2007)

This was really fucked up. It was good, but disturbing. The fact that it was based on a real torture/murder and in reality there wasn't any good characters and no one thought anything odd about the situation makes it that much worse.

Supafly345 Jan 7th, 2008 07:05 PM

Yeah, I don't think thats a movie I'll ever watch for pleasure.

JediScum Jan 8th, 2008 05:56 PM

I have been actively avoiding this for years, but I now give up. Without reading the books for comparison, I am watching the "Harry Potter" films, from start to their current end, starting with the first 3.

So I watched the 1st one a bit ago and thought, Goddamn! The music for this is totally ripping off "Star Wars". Then watching the credits, I saw John Williams did the score.

It it me, or is Alan Rickman the model for all "emo" kids?

Fathom Zero Jan 8th, 2008 06:03 PM

I <3 Hans Gruber.

The Manhattan Project is a really good film.

Angryhydralisk Jan 8th, 2008 06:23 PM

Gaaaaahh....

Simpsons Movie! - I'd say it was worth all the hype. The huomr was good enough for me and it felt like a movie. That was good.

Dance of the Drunk Mantis! - The Drunken Master sequel you never heard of because it dosen't have Jackie Chan but you can get it with five other flicks for 15 bucks. Still, this film holds it's own and Sickness Boxing sounds bizarre enough to work. Just like Drunken Boxing.

A Christmas Story! - Well, YEAH!

GRUMPYNZ Jan 9th, 2008 04:18 PM

I am Legend. A really good film, despite the ending and the Playstation baddies (i wont get into the vampire/zombie debate). Will Smith did pretty well in what was predominantly a one-man show, and that dog seriously deserves a best supporting actor nomination! I must read the book some time, because i'm a big fan of Richard Matheson's work on things like the Twilight Zone.

Spetsnaz Jan 12th, 2008 12:38 PM

The last movie I watched was Dead Man on Campus...

MetalMilitia Jan 12th, 2008 12:43 PM

Sonny Chiba's The Bodyguard
Very classic! I didn't realize how much Tarantino took from old Chiba films until I saw this one. It's a shame all the boobs were censored by pixelation blurs though :(

TheBigMan045 Jan 22nd, 2008 05:29 AM

Watched American Gangster today, the pacing of the first half is a bit slow but picks up and ends up being a really good movie. :)

Codiekitty Jan 24th, 2008 11:00 AM

Transformers 2007 - Wasn't quite as bad as Protoclown said it was, but it was still pretty bad. He covered pretty much everything there was to cover. I couldn't tell what the hell was going on in any fight scene, especially the last where all the Transformers look the same and I half-expected one of them to go "Woah, I'm on your side!" If I were more of a Transformers fan that I am, I probably would have been all-out offended by this movie.

Spiderman 3 - I'm still undecided if this was worse than Transformers or not. Mary Jane is a jealous slut, Toby Maguire always had the stupidest grin on his face, and Thomas Hayden Church looked like he was trying to push his skull out of his head the entire movie. The part with Peter getting high off Venom did the impossible and managed to be even more painful to watch than the sneaking-in-the-backyard-masturbation-chat scene in Transformers. At the least the final fight scene was comprehendable, and the cookie jar comment was funny.

Zomboid Jan 24th, 2008 04:30 PM

Spider-Man 3 was a piece of shit. There's no way it's worse than transformers. He turns into a fucking emo.

TheBigMan045 Jan 27th, 2008 05:06 AM

Completely agree, whoever made the stupid descion to make SM emo should be be hung by their feet and slowly dipped into a vat of strong acid. And sandman was a pointless character who gets defeated in a spaz way

MetalMilitia Jan 27th, 2008 07:15 AM

Street Car Named Desire - I tried really really hard to watch it but after 45 minutes it had to be turned off. Just couldn't get into it.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest - A classic which I'd never watched before. It was quite enjoyable, I especially liked the ending.

ElPila666 Feb 7th, 2008 08:04 PM

the last comedy that enjoy to watch was Hot Rod, and as for adventure Beowulf.

ElPila666 Feb 7th, 2008 08:18 PM

i'm not a american macho guacho fan but i think that Rambo (yeah the forth) is more gore and violent than others out there, i hope that comes on dvd soon

Zomboid Feb 7th, 2008 08:27 PM

Might be awhile for it to make it out on dvd there. You can probably expect it on beta max soon enough though :lol

saizo_ogasawara Feb 9th, 2008 06:50 AM

I last watched Amon : Apocalypse Of Devilman and Devilman Live Action.
I kinda liked hearing Akira Fudo getting angry.

Fat_Hippo Feb 9th, 2008 11:47 AM

Our Man in Havana - It's even older than the shit sticking to my grandfathers toilet, but pretty good actually...as opposed to the shit. Very funny idea and not bad acting either. So if you don't mind watching movies in black and white, I'd recommend it.

BlackHexen Feb 17th, 2008 09:31 PM

Das Experiment
This was best movie I have seen in ages. Feeling this movie gives is little like in Battle Royale: "What would i do in that kind situation, would my persona change"

Pat Garret and Billy the kid
In this movie was 3 good things: Blood, Bob Dylan and people talking with low voices. As a western medium. I wouldn't have liked this without those 3 things.

Conan Barbarian
Came from tv and i Watched it again. This was better i remembered. Insantly one of my favourite movies. Music and atmosphere are somethoing awesome in this movie. Real feeling of adventure.

Day after tomorrow
I needed something to watch while eating, this movie doesn't need consenration. Yeah, this doesn't give much, but as a entertaiment this is good. In movie's situation i would have sat naked outside and laughted to silly americans who freeze.

Geggy Feb 19th, 2008 10:31 AM

black snake moan

it was alright. at least i got to see christina ricci's boobs so it was not all that bad.

GRUMPYNZ Feb 19th, 2008 05:44 PM

I just watched Material Girls. I have actually torn out my own eyes it was so terrible. Damn girlfriend - no girl is worth that kind of torture.

MetalMilitia Feb 19th, 2008 06:06 PM

I watched The Squid and the Whale this weekend: Possibly the most depressing film ever but it was still good and I really liked the ending.
Also:
- Walk the Line (second time watching it, still good though)
- John Rambo 4

MetalMilitia Feb 21st, 2008 03:34 PM

I just remembered that I also watched "Shoot 'Em Up". It was actually a really enjoyable film, not big or clever, but enjoyable non-the-less. I think the best description for it would be "gun porn".

kahljorn Feb 26th, 2008 08:53 PM

I watched gone baby gone the oth ernight and that was pretty good then I watched there will be blood which was almost really good . oh and I watched citizen cain which was decent and inhereit the wind which I liked overall but hated most of the court sequences.

I am legend: have you guys seen the last man on earth starring vincent price? i am legend is based on that i think it's pretty cool ;o

The Burning -- amazingly low-budget (but EXCELLENT) horror flick starring none other than Jason Alexander. and he has hair!!!!

Tombstone -- i can never get enough of Val Kilmer saying "I'm your Huckleberry" :)

Faces of Death -- i remember this movie being so terrifying when i was a kid. seriously?!?! was i retarted when i was 12?!?!?!

Eastern Promises -- the 5th time i've seen it. besides naked Viggo, the movies itself is pretty good.

Meatballs -- i love movies set at summer camp, what can i say?? plus the theme song is always stuck in my head for some reason. let me ask you -- are YOU ready for the summer????

Dirty Dancing -- i'm a chick, and i miss the object of my affection (who lives in stupid Texas) and was feeling a little mopey. so sue me. this is the only "chick flick" that i approve of. seriously. and nobody puts baby in the corner. *sigh*

Beverly Hills Cop- Best amrican film. I felt Eddi Murphy was very humurous. he is cop bends law to sovle good firends murder I give 5 star rayting. Damon Wayne's appearence was very humor, acted like a homosexual. Bananna in tailpipe also I laughed.

MetalMilitia Feb 28th, 2008 08:05 AM

Yeah Eddie Murphy used to be OK before he started playing all the characters in his films.

Drunken_Lemur408 Feb 28th, 2008 07:53 PM

I just finished watching THE DARKEST dark comedy ever, Big Nothing. David Schwimmer and Simon Pegg attempt to con a reverend who visited illegal porn sites, and eveything goes to shit. This movie is not for the weak of heart, or those who like happy endings.

10,000 Volt Ghost Feb 28th, 2008 10:11 PM

Be kind Rewind.

This movie has so much life in it. It's Most Definitely worth going to see. A lot of humor is involved but the character development really make the movie shine. A lot of people don't like Jack Black but he was really good in it. Obviously Mos Def and Danny Glover did an amazing job. I've never seen anything bad that Michel Gondry has done. To me his films are always really inspirational.

WhiteRat Feb 28th, 2008 10:33 PM

The Arrival featuring Charlie Sheen and his many dumbfounded facial expressions. All in all I think it's a decently entertaining movie.

Grislygus Feb 29th, 2008 01:57 PM

I just finished watching Darkon, and you people have not lived until you see hundreds (hundreds!) of accountants and hot topic clerks in battle armor (and foam weapons), complete with dramatic string accompaniment, assault a giant, slipshod wooden "Citadel of Peace", and explain to the documentary crew how this is very important.

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 1st, 2008 02:43 PM

I went to see Semi-Pro last night. I don't think it would have been that funny it I didn't see it with a theater full of people.

eliz.lanier Mar 3rd, 2008 11:45 PM

Last movie I saw in theatres was No Country for Old Men. Wasn't expecting much but it was really good- Javier Bardem definitely deserved the Oscar.

Last movie I watched at home was Waitress. Meh.. it's okay.

MetalMilitia Mar 4th, 2008 08:23 AM

Last thing I saw was Edmond. It had William H Macy playing a somewhat similar role to that which he played in Fargo. The only problem was that this wasn't anywhere near as good a story as Fargo and didn't have as good a director or supporting cast.

It's kind of a shame because it did have potential and started out interesting but then never really went anywhere or explained exactly why the lead character was the way he was.

I also watched Hedwig and the Angy Inch, which I've seen several times before but decided to watch again. Really good film.

BlackHexen Mar 4th, 2008 05:13 PM

-Insomnium. This was very good. Al Pacino is the coolest detective in this movie. Plot was good and i liked characters. Robin Wiliams's character is discusting.
-Blade. Cool movie. Vampires are cool.
-Blade 2. Isn't so good as first one. Entertaining but nothing more. Characters are boring.
-Ghost rider. I waited this to be one of the shittiest superhero-movie. This is funny and cool movie. I liked this a lot. I laughted to stupidity of this movie.
-Big mamma's house 2. I guess immediately what is going to happen when movie started. Plot is just one big clisee. Still i liked this. Idea of transestive old bitch, who travel house to house solving broblems, is just way too genious to dislike.
-25th hour. Little indifferent. Fortunately party-scenes are good, so i got positive felings from this movie.
-Saw 4. Also indifferend. Plot sucked ass. Violence was only reason why i keeped watching this till the end.
-The Heart is Deceitful, Above All Things. This is one of my favourite movies, i watched this second time. This movie contains drugs, pedophilia, whoring and dark side of fundamentalist-christianity.
-1408. This was good. I was suprised because most of todays horrormovies are shit. Atmosphere is near Silent Hill videogames. Characters are cool.
-Final Cut. Idea for this movie is great. Plot and characters are average. Some good scenes and odd maincharacter make this film worth watching. Good film for scifi fans.

Next time i post to this tread, movies will be ultimate cool. "Look at him, he is cool and he have good taste for movies" will you all think.

King of Kong: A First Full of Quarters

What a great film!

Though one thing which puzzled me was how they always had footage of both sides of each phone conversation.

I just checked the TwinGalaxies site and Billy Mitchell is record holder again. :'(

argonath Mar 10th, 2008 12:39 PM

28 Weeks Later: I was really disappointed with it. I wasn't expecting much, since I knew Danny Boyle wasn't involved, but I certainly expected more than this. Clumsy pacing, awful character development, cheap scares, and a completely predicatable ending. There were some tense scenes during the escape from the building towrds the end, but they hardly made a difference. I don't think the drop in quality was as bad as from Blair Witch to Blair Witch 2, but it was damned close. * out of *****

On the other hand, my kids really liked Buzz Lightyear of Star Command which we also rented.

Fat_Hippo Mar 10th, 2008 02:12 PM

I just finished watching Season 1 of Lost on Mars (So it isn't a movie but a series, whatever). It's cool enough to make me want to watch Season 2 anyway. DCI Hunt kicks ass, even if he is a wanker. Basically, it would probably be good enough even without the whole time travel/coma thing, but that just raises it to a whole different level.

Last movie I saw was Charlie Wilson's War. It was better than I expected, considering I had no idea what it was when my girlfriend said she wanted to see it.

No Country for Old Men. Kicked major ass. I watched it in the cinema and in one scene my eyes were completely glued to the screen, which happens very rarely to me. Do youself a favor and watch it.

I just talked to my friend last night about No Country for Old Men, she said it was terrible. This is also coming from the person with a tattoo of a unicorn throwing up rainbows though. It looked really good.
