THE UNEXAMINED LIFE...

Is not worth living."
-Socrates

I say Doubt is absolutely necessary to the examined life.

Thoughts?

I think that "doubt" was pretty much the focal point of the "Socratic Method". I'm sure that your familiar with the allegory about Socrate's search for the wisest man ending in his realization that the wisest men always question their knowledge and, in turn, question their questions. Another example of this is Descarte's "Meditations" where his goal was to destroy all his knowledge of the outside world in order to not only find out what makes his existence real but also to rebuild from first foundations. It's really was kind of interesting to see that someone has the same struggles as I do. His was particularly interesting as he also had to fight against his religious faith. It kind of has an eastern religion (Budhist?) feel to it.

i disagree. i have recently discovered that not examining any part of my life has made me a happier person.

Socrates took into account that there would always be doubt...that doesn't mean you stop questioning or searching for truth, which I agree with, if Socrates did in fact actually exist.
