In your honest opinion, what is the best game soundtrack.

i quite like silent hill 2
then again i'm only familiar with about 10 or so...

Water.
Fire crackling against stone walls.
Drafts.
The sound of your heels banging across the stone floor.
The shuffling of your feet in a half of a foot of dust and blown in sand.
Water dripping from a fountain.
A fountain with pouring water.
A faint sound of a gothic choir in the distance, their lovely voices eminating from their throats fill the massive room
Brendon Frasier having fun teasing a small child about how spooky it can be, but then letting him know that he wouldn't take him some where that would be dangerous.
Looking out at one of the balconies and admiring the serene and brustling bird-filled clusters of trees out in the distance.
Rocks being tossed and kicked through the halls.
"You know, I was in a movie where I was in a temple but it was a stereotypical one, you know, in Egypt."
"Hwaht's sterotipacol?"
"It's what people assume something is because it looks like something."
"Hwaht?"
"Well, I can't think of an example, a GOOD one at least but let's try this. Say there's a big dog in front of you, someone pets it and it starts growling."
"Wohn't the dog buh-hite him?"
"That's exactly where I'm going with this! You THINK the dog is going to bite him, however, I've had a friend who had a dog that would growl if you started petting him, even when my friend pet him, but the dog just acted that way for some reason."
"Oh. I dohn't like big dogs that grorowl."

"No, no, you see, the biggest joke is the one where you only THINK you're getting friends."
"But my Dad gets my brother mad all the time but they still like each other."
"That's because your brother and your Dad know they're both joking."
"Oh."
A classroom of kids shuffling in, a chair is slid across the room.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be mean to you."
"It's ohkay. You wanna be fwends?"

Splinter Cell, Half Life, Portal (there are like, two songs, but they're both great), Mischief Makers, Halo, Megaman, Shadow of the Colossus, every Metroid game (well, not 2, but it was just the gameboy), Gunstar Heroes, Killer 7, No More Heroes, Resident Evil, Um Jammer Lammy, Vice City and San Andreas, Silent Hill, ELITE BEAT AGENTS (!), Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, and to a certain extent, 9, and I also dug most of System Shock's stuff.

I could probably think of a lot more if pressed, but those are all the ones that stick way, way out for me.

i don't think games that are actually music-based count for this, that's why when i said "guitar hero" i put a ":lol" after it because i was making a joke >:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

My all-time faves:
-Mega Man 2
-anything Castlevania (Iron Blue Intention is one my favorite songs ever)
-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Metal Gear Solid 2, if only for the opening theme. I used to restart the system over and over again to be able to hear it a bunch of times!
-Final Fantasy 6-8. This was when I feel Uematsu was at the top of his game (no pun intended).
-Chrono Cross

Super Mario Bros.! That song has been stuck in my head for 20 years.

San Andreas, MGS 2-4, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time

Original - Sonic 3, Shadow of The Colossus, Half Life 2, quite a lot of PS1 Squaresoft RPGs
Licensed - Braid, GTA Vice City, GTA IV (Fusion, JNR, LCHC, The Journey, Liberty Rock Radio, it's fucking heaven) and hell Guitar Hero as well.

Did I mention Silent Hill 3's soundtrack is fucking awesome?

And that's when MattJack was alright in my book.

Also Rygar on NES.
