10,000 Volt Ghost Oct 12th, 2008 10:17 AM

I might watch it if there's a Honky Meter. That sounds hilarious.

Angryhydralisk Oct 29th, 2008 11:03 AM

Sounds miles better than what was on ECW last night. a Mediocre 3-on-3 bout. Jack Swagger vs. Tommy Dreamer in a fairly decent match to get the new guy over (And no doubt never use him again in like, a month). And a dirt sheet making fun of DX.

I joked about it at first but now I think I was right. ECW is the reject's division and program for the WWE.

pac-man Oct 29th, 2008 01:50 PM

Who the hell is Jack Swagger?

Kevin Nash as Arn Anderson is priceless.

Angryhydralisk Nov 4th, 2008 11:56 AM

I got the Mr. Perfect DVD set a few days back. Good stuff. Ten matches (three with Bret Hart, and a god-awful bout with the Texas Tornado), 20 vignettes, and the RAP IS CRAP music video.

Happy Thanksgiving

That was packed with so many of my all time favorite wrestlers.

Rick Martel, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Honky Tonk Man, Roddy Piper

I miss the old days of WWE when it was still the WWF

pac-man Nov 28th, 2008 02:49 PM

I think my favorite lines are from Demolition (thankful they don't have to fight each other), Roddy Piper (thankful he isn't Rick Rude), and Ultimate Warrior (nonsensical rambling that ends in the word "WAAAAAR!!!")

Muscle_Bomber_Uno Nov 28th, 2008 08:13 PM

I don't remember how long ago I stopped watching wrestling... I guess I lost most interest after the McMahon limo explosion. Man, was that horrible.

WhiteRat Nov 28th, 2008 08:22 PM

The last wrestling event/show I remember watching with interest was the Summerslam with Jesse Ventura as the special guest referee. It was either 99 or 2000. I've tried several times to watch an episode of RAW since then but the shit is just garbage.

pac-man Nov 28th, 2008 08:31 PM

Agreed. I was going to buy tickets for WrestleMania 25, but then I realized I could spend the 75 bux on a video game, some beer, and a pack of smokes.

The worst part about pro wrestling being what it is today is that there is likely no going back to what it used to be. The cat is out of the bag as far as kayfabe goes, titles reigns last a couple weeks, and the shows and events are more like variety shows than (pseudo) sporting events. I doubt any promotion would even be willing to give the style of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's a try.

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 28th, 2008 09:07 PM

I think since WWE destroyed the competition it's become lackluster. Kayfabe in general got out of hand. I've been looking for a clip where the Rock was in a ambulance after being beaten by the NWO shortly after the merger. Then Hollywood Hogan rammed into the ambulance with Semi-Truck. Then Hogan got away with it because the Rock "Technically hit him first".

It's over the topness like that that made me stop watching it. Thankfully I have most of WWE/WCW from 97-2000 on VHS that I'm going through watching with my roommate now. It'll never be the same.

That sounds more akin to your typical booking of Monday Nitro or Thunder. :lol

10,000 Volt Ghost Dec 12th, 2008 06:37 PM

Watched tropic thunder last night. There's a part where this guy has two hands full of heroin and then punches two people in the face.....so they got heroin punched. My rommate and I started to think of gimmicks we could sell to WWE.

Ahab from Rehab. Used to work at a rehab clinic but was fired for intentionally getting the patients drugged. He could have a harpoon filled with heroin.

Or the cocaine uppercut, put coke on your fingers so when you uppercut someone it goes straight up their nose.

pac-man Dec 13th, 2008 06:53 AM

I read "Tropic Thunder" and immediately thought you were talking about Thunder In Paradise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I51Xk1xaDi8

This show should get a special entry into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WhiteRat Dec 13th, 2008 12:16 PM

My brother and I used to watch that show every week. :(

10,000 Volt Ghost Dec 15th, 2008 04:48 AM

Armageddon was sweet. I only cared that Finlay won. Go the Irish.

Jeff Hardy winning the championship was pretty cool too. He deserved it.

Angryhydralisk Dec 19th, 2008 02:18 PM

I heard they "killed him off" and now "brought him back from the dead". Not even TNA has that kind of nail-biting retardation boiling from it. And that's the home of the King of the Mountain match!

I am impressed with his slight of hand antics in the first clip.

The second clip makes me miss Mean Gene because he was great at what he did.

All those clips though have one thing in common (besides Macho Man :P ), they all make me really miss the old days.

pac-man Jan 9th, 2009 11:00 AM

Yeah, whenever I get nostalgic (high) I find myself digging up old WWF clips. Been playing Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 and it pisses me off that I only really know or like 5 or 6 of the wrestlers.

Tried this the other night. Is there any way to do 2 player co-op story/franchise mode as created chars? Or just play the Mysterio / Batista version?

pac-man Jan 9th, 2009 04:22 PM

Well, you can go after either of the tag championships in career mode with a created character, but you only have a small number of non-created partners to choose from. The only designed tag-team campaign is the Batista/Rey Road to WrestleMania.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jan 9th, 2009 05:55 PM

I'm going to have to get a copy of Smackdown 2: Know your role. I think that's the last one where you could do that with created characters.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jan 26th, 2009 10:27 PM

I have to give credit to Milena for being so flexible. She was on her stomach, Beth Phoenix took her leg, bent it back and then repeatedly beat Milena in the back of the head with her own foot. It was hilarious.

pac-man Feb 19th, 2009 09:11 PM

TNA sucks. I've been trying to watch it the last couple weeks, but damn. Kurt Angle looks like he has cancer, there's a black Macho Man Randy Savage, and the hexagon ring just seems like a gimmick.

10,000 Volt Ghost Feb 19th, 2009 10:01 PM

Don't forget about ManKane too. I used to watch it when it came out when they primarily fought for the X-Division championship. The hexagon ring was crazy.

pac-man Mar 8th, 2009 11:35 PM

Bought the Saturday Night's Main Event DVD earlier today. Great nostalgia. They should just re-air this stuff on Monday and Friday nights, rather than recycling feuds between guys like Cena, Edge, HHH, and Orton ad nauseum.

pac-man Mar 11th, 2009 01:44 AM

Looking at old wrestling stuff on youtube, and I found what has to be one of the great "shoot" interviews. It's just Mick Foley, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, and an interviewer eating and talking about how the business has changed. I totally recommend this to anybody who digs wrestling and has watched it evolve (or devolve IMO). Check it out:

Why is a WWE thread in the sports forum?

Angryhydralisk Mar 11th, 2009 12:12 PM

Because it's not just sports, it's sports ENTERTAINMENT.

Don't look at me, Vince said that.

WhiteRat Mar 19th, 2009 06:36 PM

Anyone else notice that Andrew "Test" Martin went up to the wrestling ring in the sky?

10,000 Volt Ghost Mar 20th, 2009 08:58 AM

Yeah, I didn't hear what happened though.

Angryhydralisk Mar 24th, 2009 08:28 PM

Shame. He was only 33. Sounds like a snappy newsflash for CNN.

Taking up professional wrestling will cut your lifespan down to roughly 40 years...unless you have no wrestling ability.

Dixie Apr 26th, 2009 12:16 AM

I just watched one of my friends tag team with Superfly Snuka down in Clayton.
He's held up pretty good!
Short match, but it was really fun!

Angryhydralisk Apr 27th, 2009 01:23 PM

Jimmy Snuka is amazing.

Also, I've been reading The death of WCW, and finding some hilarious botcheries, like this one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXkZCtZ-6IU

I'm trying to find one from 1999 where a bunch of stage blood was supposed to drop on Kevin Nash but misses and hits the crowd. It cuts to vince russo looking shocked. Konnan and Juventud Gurrera are standing behind him in stitches.

Oh, and Kevin Nash screwing up walking and tearing his quad literally on his returning day from an injury.

Angryhydralisk May 28th, 2009 11:49 AM

Picture is brilliant.

I still caught RAW in Lousiville, thanks laregely to my friend being an idiot and getting the date wrong. I thought they still did the shows in advance (They do for WWE Superstars, which a rejects that aren't reject enough for ECW) ut RAW's live. Just goes to show you how long it's been since I seriously watched wrestling!

Apparently, judging by Wikipedia and the confrontation Flair had with Randy orton on RAW, he's possibly un-retiring AGAIN.

not as bad as Terry Funk, who had retired and un-retired so many times the experts and marks actually lost count.

10,000 Volt Ghost May 28th, 2009 01:54 PM

lol, me and my roommate were playing Resident Evil 5 and chainsaw guy popped out. He's like "Oh! Chainsaw Charlie is back out of retirement." So we killed him retired him and then bust out laughing when he came back to life for another round. "His pension ran out again."

Pentegarn Jun 6th, 2009 12:25 AM

Jesse Ventura was great until he went ape shit and became one of those nutbag 'truthers'

Sam Jun 9th, 2009 03:04 PM

I don't even know what is going on right now, but I got tickets to see The Great American Bash on the 28th. :(

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 11th, 2009 12:24 PM

It doesn't matter. I usually go to it when it comes because its an excuse to drink copious amounts of booze and yell at people.

Went to the great american bash a few years ago and met Benoit which was amazing(still have his autograph! :)) At the actual PPV they had a whole Benoit tribute to him and then he lost to Bradshaw for some reason. It was a terrible event though :(

Angryhydralisk Jun 15th, 2009 02:15 PM

That sounds fuckin' ridiculous. And not in the good way where some wrestlers are all like "Well, the best matche sI ever had were the ones I LOST.

Anyways, 3-for-All is on tonight. Sounds predictable and absurd.

Orton vs. Triple H vs. Cena vs. Big Show for the WWE title

Jeff Hardy vs. Edge vs. CM Punk for the Heavyweight title

and Tommy Dreamer (Who hasn't retired) vs. some schmuck for the ECW title.

Sam Jun 15th, 2009 06:19 PM

YOU MEAN SOME SCHMUCK WHO NEEDS TO RETIRE A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO VS CHRISTIAN :rolleyes

Angryhydralisk Jun 24th, 2009 10:36 AM

And now it's the schmuck who needs to retire vs. the schmuck who's not as cool as edge vs. the fat schmuck who's been in WWE way too long vs. the irish schmuck vs. the schmuck that speaks with a lisp.

Anyways, Trump Raw was certainly one of the more entertaining RAWs I seen in a while. Me and a friend have been joking about Randy Orton's "UH KICKED HIM IN DUH SKULL!" speech a lot and now having heard it I can't stop laughing.

I look forward to seeing Cena vs. Miz.

Sam Jun 28th, 2009 12:42 PM

Leaving for "The Bash" :rolleyes right now. Is anyone going to watch it? I'm not taking a sign but I will be wearing a Boba Fett shirt if you wanna play "Find Sam in a Crowd of Thousands of Peoples". :(

Hi everyone,
I love WWE very much and i am watching since past 14 yrs.
My favorite wrestlers are Brett hit-man Heart and The Rock.
Last i saw the event called "The Bash". After that i haven't
seen yet, so can u give some news on it.

Angryhydralisk Jul 25th, 2009 12:15 PM

Umm....Triple H & Randy Orton hate each other. And ZZ Top were guests last week. The End.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jul 27th, 2009 01:12 PM

This is coming 2nd hand from my roommate but I guess last night there was a triple threat match. HHH and Cena had a crippler crossface and boston crab applied to Orton at the SAME TIME. Orton TAPPED OUT but the ref didn't know how to declare who the winner was. So the match CONTINUED and then Orton pinned someone else later and WON the match...WTF?

Now obviously I could see some confusion as to who the winner would be between HHH and Cena but it definitely wouldn't be Orton....later on.

I don't think athletes, or any celebrity for that matter, are good role models.

Heck look at just the last year, you have DUI murderers, bigots, animal killers, bad sports, and cheaters up to your armpits sadly.

Angryhydralisk Aug 3rd, 2009 10:35 AM

Well, that's exactly what I wanted to be when I grow up! A FELON!

Anyways, I think the guest host thing worked when they had wrestlers guest hosting. Unless those were the only two they could get to do the damn thing and not look like idiots.

And by idiots, I mean still better than ZZ Top & Shaq.

Speaking of Shaq, he's having a show in the vein of that Bobby Flay show where he takes on other athletes in their sports....and presumably loses.

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 18th, 2009 12:14 PM

Randy Orton did his move thing to Freddie Prinze jr last night. I was hoping for something witty along the lines of Orton saying "Junior, I'm going to cripple you....like your career!" but Randy is an idiot so oh well.

Also, the short irish fellow fought Chavo. Long story short, ended up backstage, Chavo walked through a door, was hit in the head with a paint can and it turned out Macualey Culkin was behind it.

John Hughes is most certainly rofling in his grave.

Angryhydralisk Aug 23rd, 2009 09:17 AM

Speaking of the guest host gimmick, some site confirmed some of the future guest hosts.

Confirmed:
Bob Barker
the Rev. Al Sharpton
“Access Hollywood” co-host Nancy O’Dell
boxer Floyd Mayweather
basketball player LeBron James.

Not so confirmed, but WWE wants them for god knows what reasons. It makes the actual confirmeds seem stellar in comparison:
Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz
Ashlee Simpson
the Osbournes
Danny DeVito (He should come out to Fantomas, since he did commentary for the Melvins/Fantomas Big Band DVD.)
Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa
Jimmy Fallon
Rachael Ray
MC Hammer
Woody Harrelson
Serena Williams
Ashton Kutcher
