I went to high school with the girl that is part of that obnoxious radio morning show trio in Winnipeg. They just switched from one station to another. I'm guessing your average citizen of Winnipeg would know what I'm talking about.

I saw a listing for hockey tonight and was like wtf, but it was a Canucks-Penguins game from 2010.

Last January's exciting news that the National Hockey League had awarded the 2013 All-Star Celebration to Columbus was a testament to the outstanding support of our fans and spoke to the strength of Central Ohio as a hockey market. Unfortunately, due to the absence of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and NHL, we have been informed by the League that this year's event has been cancelled.

While we are especially disappointed for our fans, who responded so enthusiastically to this event coming to Columbus, we believe that today's news is merely a postponement. We can assure you that our commitment to bringing All-Star festivities to our city is as strong as ever. The NHL continues to believe Columbus will be a great host and will work with us to bring the event here as soon as possible.

Over the past several months, our staff has worked extremely hard with the League, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, our public officials and numerous members of the local business and hospitality communities on this project. Our goal was simple - to host the best All-Star Weekend the NHL has ever seen - and it remains our goal today. We believe Nationwide Arena, the Arena District and the entire Central Ohio community offer a truly unique setting for this event and we know Columbus will be a great host when the All-Star Celebration does come here.

We understand this is a challenging time for all of us who love the game of hockey, but we are confident we will get through it together. No one is as eager as we are to take the ice as we have made a number of significant improvements to our organization, highlighted by John Davidson recently joining the Blue Jackets as President of Hockey Operations.

We are dedicated to building a world class organization with a winning culture led by a team that competes at a high level every night and ultimately wins the Stanley Cup. We have turned the page on the past and together with you will achieve new levels of success in the future. As JD said at his introductory press conference, we're going to do this "one brick at a time and build a team Columbus will be proud of."

When I heard this, I immediately thought "Kitsa is not going to be pleased". So long to the all star game.

I would have been more surprised if they hadn't cancelled it.

Still, sad. The Jackets are the Charlie Browns of hockey. "I got a stick of gum!" "I got a penny!" "I got a chocolate bar!" "...I got a rock."

Just can't catch a damn break. But as NHL teams go, you couldn't ask for a more accessible or fan-friendly team. Sometimes having no reason to go prima donna pays off.

It never ceases to impress me how the Ohio sports fan takes it in stride. Kudos!

Here comes George Cohen to save the day. This'll probably will keep the union from decertifying, but I don't know if he'll be as quick as he was with the other leagues.

All I know is I have more time to see the Stanley Cup.

With all this talk about "executive compensation" and "taxing the rich" and "entitlement reform" and with all the additional suffering after Sandy, we have to continue to listen how two extremely fortunate groups - both "haves" if I'm not mistaken - bitch and whine about how they can divvy up a huge chunk of money. And the workers who depend on the sport for their livelihood (concessions, security, parking, tickets, etc.) as well as the fans are the ones who are S.O.L.

and the Kings won't get their rings until the season officially starts. :tear

1) This morning the Blue Jackets posted a Christmas graphic on their facebook page, Merry Christmas from the Blue Jackets, thank you to all our fans, etc etc. Someone (wish it were me, but it wasn't) responded, "Thank you for the undefeated season."

2) I got this for Christmas. lolz.

Hey man I'm looking forward to the Kings finally getting their rings.

I was hoping for a bunch of gym rules this year like play 2 periods then during the 3rd period its always next point wins.

Some cities in the south are selling season tickets for as low as $200 now LOL

My season tickets arrived in the mail today. It's this weird card with a barcode on it and to share tickets with my group I have to do a bunch of work on some shitty website. :/

Whole city got mad at the Jets because of their plans to charge us $2.50 to print tickets off their website to share them with friends (most ppl are in groups with like 5-6 ppl to pay for a pair of seats).

Within 24 hours they had a press conference to announce that they were changing their minds and there will be no fee.

That's like 800 American dollars, I'd be pissed as well!

LOL Now they're pretending like there were never any plans for a fee and it was just a miscommunication, despite the fact that their website and the season ticket booklet explains how the fee works :lol

This sounds like a scene from "Christmas Vacation" but without the humor value.

I looked up the exchange rate, and $2.50 Canadian is $784.27 US.

I'm going to skate ate LA Live. Hopefully the cup will be there next weekend.

Sharks scoring 6 points against the Oilers sounds impressive, wish I could have watched that game as well.

Well it looks like I'm allowed to watch Sharks games without having to pay more to my cable company so I guess I'm a Sharks fan now. :(

Last night I watched Sharks V Coyotes and this morning I'm watching Sharks V Oilers.

The Sharks have are dominating defense so far. These guys really really want the cup and I can get behind that. Of course the game tomorrow will probably piss me off and I'll hate on them, but god dammit, they seem to have their shit together.

4-2 over the Penguins! The crowd was going absolutely nuts!

I'm happy that the Jets won and made all those stupid little kids wearing Crosby jerseys sad. Every time the Penguins have come to town, all these 8 year old shits at the game wearing #87 and cheering for the Penguins and their dad sitting beside them is wearing an old-school Jets jersey looking embarrassed.
