Anybody seen the GL flick?

I have not. I need to budget my Summertime fare. Saw X-men First Class, which I enjoyed. Plan on seeing Captain America. It's not that I'm necessarily a Marvel over DC guy. GL just looked too glowy and CGI. I like my CGI so that it looks real, not 'hey lookit all the cool shit I can pull with my CGI skilz'. Of course, maybe that's just looking at the trailer on my computer, and on the big screen it's not a problem. Who knows.

i've seen it

the cgi for the most part is terrible
the story was kinda weak
the way parallax was handled was a misstep
and there are several other gripes i'm too lazy to type

overall it's like the fantastic 4 movies but less shitty, a throwaway popcorn flick

but its got ryan reynolds in it.

Yeah, but he's deeply Canadian.

Zomboid Jul 13th, 2011 08:06 PM

Go fuck yourself, Dextire.

As for the movie: I'm not interested for the same reason as you, Max. It just looks bad in pretty much every way.

:lol Sorry, a bit of explanation is probably in order.

"But Reynolds is so blandly amiable, so deeply Canadian, that the hallmark of a male movie star — the musk of danger — is something he doesn't radiate; he only simulates it."

The whole review is just so damn stupid and entertaining. :)

And the reviewer gets piled on like nobody I have ever seen :lol

That guy pissed me off so much. Pentegarn gave him some hell.

Man, I ended up at some of Time's "Best of" lists through that link

Did you know they think that 2008's Horton Hears a Who is one of the greatest animated films of all time

Pentegarn Jul 14th, 2011 06:36 AM

If you had only been able read the review that link refers to you would see why they could come to a conclusion like that. Richard Corliss is movie illiterate. He makes statements like "The Green Lantern villain ripped off Spock" when the Green Lantern villain was around first. Then his review devolves into this uber left wing agenda filled crapfest. It was so poorly written that I was embarrassed for him

I'd rather just go watch First Class again.
