God damnit! My final was postponed for freaking snow. The academics need to man the hell up. I just want to write the damn thing. </rage>

Kitsa Dec 15th, 2010 07:41 AM

Wow, they didn't even cancel the last final of my music degree for a blizzard. I had to perform on stage with snow melting around my feet.

Pub Lover Dec 15th, 2010 07:47 AM

Aye. And you try and tell the young people of today that ... they won't believe you.

Zhukov Dec 15th, 2010 07:59 AM

Haha. I think my girlfriend had an exam moved because of a heatwave last month. So there you go.

MY TWO-MONTH OLD LAPTOP DOESN'T TURN ON ANYMORE. In fact when I plug it in the little plug-in light comes on, but when I press the power button the light goes off until I unplug it and plug it in again. AND IT DOESN'T TURN ON AT ALL UNPLUGGED.

ANGST

Tadao Dec 15th, 2010 01:57 PM

Sounds like the battery is completely dead.

Pub Lover Dec 15th, 2010 03:04 PM

So remove the battery, plug in & see if it boots? :confused

Shrubfest Dec 15th, 2010 07:54 PM

Is not going to bed and sleeping on the couch a good way to sulk at the man?

He told me to come to bed after he was asleep because my insomnia disturbed his sleep.

Fathom Zero Dec 15th, 2010 09:37 PM

He sounds pretty understanding and tolerant.

MLE Dec 15th, 2010 09:45 PM

Yes it's a good way to sulk at him. They actually care if you're in bed or not. You're getting your message across, so keep it up until he asks what's really wrong!

elx Dec 15th, 2010 11:43 PM

no, take your bed back and kick his ass to the couch! why should you have to be uncozy in the freezing winter? he's the one being a jerk

MLE Dec 15th, 2010 11:51 PM

because being passive aggressive works better than being a bitch. There's more guilt associated with it.

Fathom Zero Dec 15th, 2010 11:56 PM

Yeah, that would kill me. :(

MLE Dec 15th, 2010 11:58 PM

See?

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 12:12 AM

I'd go sleep on the couch if I needed it that bad. :\

But I just need 3-4 hours of listless sleep to make it through the day without killing myself.

Pub Lover Dec 16th, 2010 12:36 AM

Sounds like Shrub needs a man with more stamina. Sam would boff ya to sleep every night.

Sam Dec 16th, 2010 03:05 AM

SHRUB YOU SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR ME. :tear

I WOULD HAVE MADE IT ALL RIGHT BABY.

He told me to come to bed after he was asleep because my insomnia disturbed his sleep.

You could try telling him why you think that's a bad idea. That way you can sort it out in a logical way, without spending a night on the couch thinking up ways that it's his fault.

Shrubfest Dec 16th, 2010 08:49 AM

Yeah, but he gets the 'I have to get up for work at 6, and you don't actually have to get up at all because you are currently a bum' card.

Which is ironic, because my insomnia is caused by my utter failings in finding placements.

I wouldn't have minded so much if his evening routine didn't involve him falling asleep in front of facebook for 2 hours.

MLE Dec 16th, 2010 08:53 AM

passive aggressive mixed with logic as soon as confronted is a nearly unbeatable combination.

I don't do this anymore, but i really used to be a bitch. The last person that got handled like this was chojin :< Sorry bro :<

Well, it sounds like he's winning this argument. Does he understand that you don't want to distress him BUT it's not very nice to be told to stay away form bed? As crazy as this may seem, sometimes actually discussing your genuine feelings with your partner is a good idea.

Why are women so unkind? :(

MLE Dec 16th, 2010 09:01 AM

because we're physically weaker i suppose. my old way of handling this works great because it ends up with logic, reason, and discussion of emotion!

note: it doesn't work as well if you tend to cry easily, though that does add to the guilt side.

Zhukov Dec 16th, 2010 09:05 AM

Arguments aren't competitions to be won or lost, MLE. They are problems that take two people to overcome. :picklehat

Shrubfest Dec 16th, 2010 09:08 AM

Oh no, no waterworks. That'd work in a very different way of causing him an emotional breakdown.
I did go to bed in the end, but about 5 hours after him. And didn't sleep.

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 10:38 AM

IT'S ALL I CAN DOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning, everybody.

I'm writing about depression.

This would be easy to write about if I weren't so apathetic.

See? I brought it back around.

You are being railroaded by everybody else's jerk idea of fun. :eek

MLE Dec 16th, 2010 12:20 PM

You want to take more classes so you can put off more homework? You know there are cheaper ways of stressing yourself out.

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 12:20 PM

I am. I don't enjoy 13 hour car trips, both ways.

I like my squalor here. :(

Intersession classes are the fun ones. I was gonna take a class on Mel Brooks before everybody was all like ":family DON'T NEGLECT US."

Pub Lover Dec 16th, 2010 12:21 PM

I don't even understand why I have to explain why I choose not to give gifts or celebrate the holidays. >:

Pub Lover Dec 16th, 2010 12:21 PM

I'm an adult! :eek

Pub Lover Dec 16th, 2010 12:22 PM

Why don't they have to explain why they are acting like children when there are no children around to benefit from such infantile nonsense? >:

Pub Lover Dec 16th, 2010 12:30 PM

And the bitter resentment in my eyes is so strong that not one has made a reference to A Christmas Carol. :eek

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 12:37 PM

Kitsa Dec 16th, 2010 12:45 PM

My holidays were way shittier before I had kids. Now I feel like I have something to look forward to again.

Being jaded and sardonic is all well and good on certain fronts, but the bleakness of existence is a major drawback.

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 12:51 PM

I'm too young for this. I should be out fucking people or drinking.

Kitsa Dec 16th, 2010 12:56 PM

If it's any help, depression is often a byproduct of intelligence.

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 12:57 PM

Being ignorant would lead to a happier life, yes.

Fathom Zero Dec 16th, 2010 01:00 PM

Sorry guys, today just struck me as particularly terrible.

executioneer Dec 16th, 2010 01:01 PM
