Midnight, dark, utterly silent, he steps on the vacuum "on" pedal. It's completely dark and silent in here and WHAM. Cat flew backwards with ears flat out and all his fur on end.

It's pretty startling to have a vacuum suddenly turned on behind you, at midnight, in utter darkness and silence, when you're not expecting it.

I forgot to unplug it so it's my fault, but the cats normally treat the vacuum like it's the antichrist so I didn't think they'd be climbing on it.

Speaking of getting the shit scared out of you. Earlier today there was a big boom and the house shook. I guess the shuttle landed near by. I've had sonic booms before, but I don't remember them being this violent.

I haven't heard a sonic boom since I was in elementary school. I think they might be illegal most places.

It has ben a very long time yeah. I think only the government are allowed to fly that fast in our airspace, so maybe it's only illegal for the rest.

I live right next to an air force base and I know Air Force One is constantly coming in and out of here, but no sonic booms. Not at their airshows or anything.

Other than John Glenn and some museum up in Wapakoneta that literally has not changed since the early 80s (went last year and the movie was still about the new Space Station they're gonna build! ), we're not much on shuttles around here.

That I know of. A lot of shit goes down on air force bases so who knows.
