I only watched the first few minutes of it(his part) but it just seemed like he really didn't want to be there.

I think Norm MacDonald's a genius and I heard good things about the roast.

I finished watching Norm's bit, it was kind of funny, more endearing than anything else though. I think Gilbert stole the show.

Fathom Zero Aug 19th, 2008 03:47 PM

I finished watching it. :lol

I don't think he rippped off any Neil Hamburger stuff, it's just generally the same comedic concept.

Two things to keep in mind about Norm MacDonald: he seems to actually care about Bob Saget a lot (Saget directed his movie) and can't really seem to bring himself to really bash him down. That and worrying about the absent Artie Lange might have fucked with his roast a little.

That said, anything bad said about Norm can be negated by listening to his Chris Kattan story. It's utterly perfect.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the roast here, because I don't think you can say anything bad about him based on that clip. It was goofy and soft on purpose, and came out hilarious on the other side. It was a concept that worked and I don't think it had much to do with holding back, I think he just (rightfully) thought that roasts are terrible.

My favourite part was John Stamos' awkward reaction shot.
