I thought the joke was that it was made by Au'some industries.

Zhukov Nov 24th, 2009 11:07 AM

Shit I keep doing that. Give me an edit button!

Kitsa Nov 24th, 2009 11:18 AM

WTG McDonald's. This is precisely why I'm afraid to take my service-dog-in-training into new places.

Dimnos Nov 24th, 2009 11:37 AM

Dude! I hope he kicks their asses up down and sideways in court. >:

Kitsa Nov 24th, 2009 11:40 AM

Yeah, that was handled badly.

Fathom Zero Nov 24th, 2009 11:43 AM

Jeez.

stevetothepast Nov 24th, 2009 12:07 PM

rotten ronnie strikes again.

Tadao Nov 24th, 2009 12:25 PM

Now Steve, I hate McDonald's too, but I don't think it's Ronnie's fault. he employees who beat him need to go to jail though.

Kitsa, make an appointment here in Grove City.

Disabled in some way? Parents dead?

elx Nov 25th, 2009 01:32 PM

does anyone know if it's safe to fully cook things today and then reheat in the oven the next day? like would a pie burn if i did that?:(

and yeah that's pretty weird, babysappyton. if it's parents dead, you're only allowed to receive it after 18 if you're still in highschool, but even then, it's supposed to go to whoever your legal guardian is. not you!

Tadao Nov 25th, 2009 01:41 PM

depends on the pie, but an apple or pumpkin pie can handle it. You just have to keep an eye on it.

Fathom Zero Nov 25th, 2009 01:48 PM

Yes, elx. It's just an application of heat like any other, just don't burn your damn house down. It shouldn't take very long to reheat, and you wouldn't want to recook it.

Kitsa Nov 25th, 2009 01:50 PM

I'm cooking my pumpkin pie today because I likes it cold.

This is my first thanksgiving not having to travel in a very, very long time. I'm excited that I'm finally going to be able to see the parade on TV. It's the little things.

captain516 Nov 25th, 2009 02:03 PM

cold pumpkin pie is deeelish

My dad has kidney failure, so I can get benefits while I'm in highschool. I feel kinda like a douche for taking advantage on it, but hey, I need money.

Kitsa Nov 25th, 2009 03:37 PM

Did it take a long time to get approved for it?

Tadao Nov 25th, 2009 03:38 PM

burning the house down is a very likely possibility - my mom has been in the hospital for a month or so and since she's gone i'm the one in charge of preparing the 15 dishes and 3 desserts she makes every year for the holiday. the problem is, i've never even cooked a full meal by myself before, let alone something this massive. but i figure if i'm able to cook half of it tonight and reheat it tomorrow i'll be golden:(

hope the rest of you have a better holiday and a more edible meal tomorrow :)~

edit: also, thanks you two!

Tadao Nov 25th, 2009 04:43 PM

Are you cooking a turkey for the first time? remeber to get your hand way up in it to pull out the gizzards, sometimes they are in a plastic bag and you might cook plastic into the turkey.

Tadao Nov 25th, 2009 04:44 PM

also, sorry to hear about your mom.

yeah i am:( i was able to talk my brothers into cooking the turkey + ham but then they came up with this deep frying scheme and so i fired them out of concern.

Tadao Nov 25th, 2009 05:00 PM

I hear deep fried turkey is the best ever. I'm supprised you didn't help her out in the kitchen before. You're a naughty child.

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 25th, 2009 05:42 PM

Deep fried turkey tastes so fucking good. My extended family made it once and we ate the shit out of it.

captain516 Nov 25th, 2009 06:23 PM

I'm going to try Turducken for the first time. Hopefully it won't suck.

Oh well. Good luck jumping from never cooked a meal to making thanksgiving dinner for a family though.

Colonel Flagg Nov 26th, 2009 04:33 AM

I have a great respect for the Joy of Cooking - that book has never let me down.

Heard lots of good things about deep-fried turkey, but I've never had the pleasure.

How massive is the turkey, elx?

kahljorn Nov 26th, 2009 05:04 AM

i cant wait for tomorrow :(

kahljorn Nov 26th, 2009 05:05 AM

I have weed AND tons of food

Fathom Zero Nov 26th, 2009 05:52 AM

My mother invited me over to Thanksgiving at her new boyfriend's parents' house. We're gonna have good times.

Aaarg Nov 26th, 2009 08:41 AM

All my family (including extended) is apparently going to my dad's house, except me. My Thanksgiving sounds like it'll be a lot like kohljumanji's - a plate of food and a bowl of something else.

Deep-fried turkey sounds awesome.

Shrubfest Nov 26th, 2009 03:22 PM

I just looked up root beer. I cannot imagine what it tastes like. Description, anyone?

Tadao Nov 26th, 2009 03:34 PM

What? Really? Either it's the best pop in the world or you will puke. I love rootbeer floats.

Chojin Nov 26th, 2009 03:52 PM

it tastes like sassafras.

captain516 Nov 26th, 2009 03:55 PM

I really don't now how to describe it. I would say "vaguley medicine-like."

Tadao Nov 26th, 2009 03:59 PM

:pagebrak

I'll ship you some if you can't get any in GB. Wich would be totally gay.

Shrubfest Nov 26th, 2009 04:07 PM

Well, i figure its something like ginger beer and dandilion and burdock.

Tadao Nov 26th, 2009 04:07 PM

I'm psoitive it's not.

Kitsa Nov 26th, 2009 05:35 PM

no, british ginger beer is way hotter than root beer.

It's mellower and sweeter than coca-cola. It has a sassafras taste to it that would be hard to describe to someone who hasn't had sassafras. It mixes well with vanilla and that's what makes root beer floats (vanilla ice cream plus root beer) work so well.

I'm guessing root beer barrels (the candy) aren't available there? I've had a ton of British and continental candy and I can't really think of anything similar.

Kitsa Nov 26th, 2009 05:38 PM

I've got it...it's like horehound without the bite. I know there's horehound in the UK.

Tadao Nov 26th, 2009 05:56 PM

I wanna try this horehound stuff.

kahljorn Nov 26th, 2009 07:16 PM

don't.

Sam Nov 26th, 2009 07:24 PM

I'D RATHER HAVE A WHOREPOUND AM I RIGHT LADIES OR FELLAS?

10,000 Volt Ghost Nov 26th, 2009 08:08 PM

Birch beer is the shit.

Zhukov Nov 26th, 2009 08:45 PM

It's sort of like sarsaparilla.

Kitsa Nov 26th, 2009 09:39 PM

If you're in the states and want to try horehound, go to any Cracker Barrel restaurant (I don't know how it is elsewhere, but they're like every freeway exit in this area). They have a shitload of the stuff. You can get horehound stick candy for 10 cents apiece, or they have little papery sacks of it for around $1.50.

Tadao Nov 26th, 2009 09:49 PM

Maybe they have it at a BevCo.

Ooops, I mean BevMo, And no, they don't list it.

Dixie Nov 27th, 2009 07:06 PM

in 7 hours I'll have been awake for two days. Feels neutral man.

Looks like all my extra DPH sleep just made my schedule weirder; I could have taken some last night, but I didn't have to get up either so I thought, fuck it. Turns out I also have a 5 page paper I had no idea I had due on Monday, so I hope I start plateauing soon so I can marathon this shit and then go into a comatose state for a while.

Fathom Zero Nov 29th, 2009 07:52 AM
