Catlevania: The Adventure Rebirth
Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth
Whoa... I guess Konami realized that there is several options for the first Castlevania game already and decided to make this new rebirth WiiWare game based on the Gameboy Castlevania. It's about time they showed the classic Gameboy some love, even if it's just a remake of the gadgets classic games. |
I saw a video for a new 3D Castlevania too that looks pretty badass.
|
i doubt is a remake gradius and contra rebirth weren't remakes
|
As long as it's good, I'm happy.

I'm way more optimistic about this game than I am about Lords of Shadows. |

I'm just glad that it's a level-based platformer beat-em-up like the old games. I've never been a big fan of the Metroid-style ones, so I've been waiting for them to finally make a new game in the classic style (Chronicles was mostly a remake of 1, and Dracula X Chronicles was a straight remake Rondo of Blood, so they don't count for me). I don't mind the SOTN sequels, but there was no reason to stop making the classic style ones.
I do hope they use Super Castlevania's control system. 8-way whip control, swinging from rings, and a separate button for the sub-weapon were all fantatic features which should have been in later titles. Also, screw the story! I just want a beefy Belmont with a whip kicking Universal Monster ass! |
that's what i hated from dracula x the lack of control over the whip i'm on that one with fistful
|
The game was released yesterday in Japan, and someone already loaded a straight run-through. For the most part the game takes most inspiration from Bloodlines (no problem, since that's a great game), with plenty of tips to the rest of the classic series (got to love the map screen being like 1's (along with the opening using screen captures from 1)). Coolest thing is that the whip can upgrade past the long chain and into the ability to launch fireballs from its tip (which was apparently a feature of the games featuring Christopher Belmont).
Anyway I can't wait until this game is released in America, but in the mean time the previously mentioned playthrough can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRqnn8sH7PI |
Canklevania? There were some videos on youtube of the entire game. I'm holding out on watching them so I can start fresh. |

It looks good in the video, like they're going for Simon's original look. And it looks like it'll have some elements from Rondo of Blood, in that you may have to return to earlier stages once you have some special item.
Not sure I like all the orchestra hits in the new music, though. |
hmmm... Spacklevania. Is this funny?
|
I have the Japanese version, cause you really don't need text in this game. Just hit shit and don't die.
It's alright. The rebirth games are really weird since they're part sequel part remakes. This one is definitely more like the numbered Castlevanias than the nonlinear ones. |
Is it unorthodox for me to prefer Lords of Shadows more?
|
guys i was referencing the typo in the thread title
not kick-starting a gay pun parade |
I just noticed I misspelt Castlevania in the title now...
But the puns are pretty good so far... |
