I'm getting this game no matter how bad it is.

Anybody get the new Splatterhouse game yet? I'm curious to hear how it turned out since Boogie and I played the demo at E3 earlier this summer.
|
I´ll get it on friday I guess but some guys on my regular boad have it already and the first impressions were quite positive as far as I can tell. The voice acting seems to be pretty good as is the humor between Rick and the Mask.

I got this game day one, I've been streaming it on the website I'm a part of at vidya2. I have to say, I absolutely love it. It's a great remake and stays true to the original. It also includes the original 3 games as unlockables.

Yeah, as I said in the other thread, I´m impressed what they´ve done with it, it´s really pretty good and that´s way more than I expected :) Glad I got it and for a good price too...all Splatterhouse games on one disc.

I WISH I STILL HAD A 360 DAMMIT I WANTED THIS GAME SO BAD RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE
|
Its also on the PS3.

Okay, I just finished it. Pretty good game they made there. The last third isn´t that great but what can you do.
Oh and normal isn´t normal it´s pretty hard in certain areas though 90% of my deaths were caused by falls (honestly Namco, don´t try do put Platforming in there, you don´t know how to do these things properly) or the fact that you have to learn bosses the first time round. Wouldn´t be that much of a problem if the game didn´t load for about a minute each and every time you die. That and many Checkpoints aren´t that well placed. I´d say Splatterhouse is a solid 7. It´s good but not that well designed here and there. Glad I bought it :) |
I have no regrets about it. I hope we get a sequel.
|
I'm looking forward to buying a 360 so that I can play this and Dead Rising.

One thing they like to do later on is throw more and more previous bosses at you. In one level you have to fight 1st Level bosses plus one of the annoying invincible-buff-teleport enemies at one while the ground collapses gradually. Really fucking annoying...but it only took me two or three tries. The most annoying part for me might have been a jumping section with the collapsing bridge. 6 or 10 tries I guess.
I think the only tips one can give for the combat are: -Use the heal-skill, it´s cheap and almost always available -Use the dismember-grab, it provides you with weapons when there are none around -Always kill glowing enemies first, they can twohit you -Berserker, Berserker, Berserker. Whenever you see a normal Boss, whenever things get too tough, whenever you´re almost dead: Berserker Mode is you best friend in this game That´s all I can think of right now. The game isn´t Ninja Gaiden-difficult, it mostly suffers from some poor design choices I´d say. And I too hope we´ll get a sequel, I really like the story and the characters of the game and that´s quite a feat for a game called Splatterhouse. A little Herbert West - Reanimator, a bit Charles Dexter Ward, a bit of the eldritch menace from beyond the stars, those guys knew their Lovecraft, no doubt :) |
All of these complaints are making me more excited to play this because they sound like all the classic gripes for Splatterhouse.
|
It's a great game. I expected the ending they gave me, but it somehow still managed to piss me off. It's great! I demand a sequel right now.

Just a quick heads up for any of you who've been thinking about buying the new Splatterhouse... it's on sale for only $25.99 on Amazon today. Hell of a good price.

I beat it and am almost done a second playthrough on brutal difficulty. This game is great, but there are definitely problems. There are certain enemies that basically throw their hands into the air and decide to charge you, and if you're close, you can't hit them, even if they're still in the arm-throwing animation, which means you get grabbed. Annoying. The platforming parts can be pretty annoying, but they're still fun.
Also, I kinda wish they'd had more horror elements and less "LOVECRAFT IS FUCKING METAL!!!!", but even that's kinda minor. |
Also pictures of Jennifer's tits.
