Oh, and I think people do live on Antarctica. A baby was born there last year (maybe two.. or three years ago. Five?) if I recall correctly.

All the French and Russian sailors going to and from Antarctica stop in Hobart. They hang around port smoking and waiting to get back on their boats to go somewhere better. :(

Reel Big Fish - Hungry Like The Wolf

10,000 Volt Ghost May 20th, 2010 01:57 PM

That song is amazing. I went to a gentlemens club once and some "dancer" "came out" to it.

Tadao May 20th, 2010 02:04 PM

The only versions of that song that are listenable are RBF's and Bruce Campbell's Old Spice comercial.

10,000 Volt Ghost May 20th, 2010 02:33 PM

Less than Jake have a good hungry like the wolf cover too.

edit: Its not on this but I might order this album when I get home.

http://www.looplabs.com/

Guitar Woman May 20th, 2010 10:37 PM

Tadao you dick go find me a job

Tadao May 20th, 2010 10:37 PM

In what career?

Guitar Woman May 20th, 2010 10:39 PM

Manuel Labor?

Or data entry. Something repetitive and soul-crushing, I can do that.

I'm looking at writing gigs on craigslist, but the only samples I have were written off of drugs and aren't very good.

Tadao May 20th, 2010 10:49 PM

I used to work for WinCo. They can really crush your soul. You can make decent money and even part timers get amazing full medical coverage.

Tadao May 20th, 2010 10:52 PM

http://jobs.oregonlive.com/careers/j...main&offset=80

Guitar Woman May 20th, 2010 10:54 PM

I shoplift from my local WinCo all the time so I don't think that's a good idea

Other supermarkets are fair game, though!

And I keep looking for nonprofit jobs with gay neo-hippie groups, but I don't give a cubic millimeter of fuck about the earth or all the downtrodden brown people, and I guess the interviewer women with mats of tarantula hair covering their legs can see through my facade.

Tadao May 20th, 2010 10:58 PM

Be careful, WinCo will always prosecute. Also, they drug test a lot.

kahljorn May 20th, 2010 11:37 PM

i think wincos hiring policy is hiring dicks

HOW DID YOU GET HIRED THERE EXACTLY?

Tadao May 20th, 2010 11:43 PM

They'll hire anyone in the Bakery. It's a loveless job.

kahljorn May 21st, 2010 12:44 AM

i think one time somebody in the bakery smiled at me and that was thenicest thing that has ever happened to me at winco

Guitar Woman May 21st, 2010 01:21 AM

I was lifting some robitussin the other week and some guys in nametags and sharp suits kept showing up wherever I went and I started shitting bricks

Turns out they were just Jehovas Witnesses :lol

Tadao May 21st, 2010 01:36 AM

When someone in the Bakery smiles, it's as lucky as catching a Leprechaun under a rainbow.

I love the biography too

Biography: "Man"

Still, it beats Jim "The Punky QB" McMahon's autobiography

10,000 Volt Ghost May 21st, 2010 11:25 AM

Can you just fast forward straight to the part where you post your spam? I mean honestly, do you really believe if you post nonsense long enough, post enough innocuous posts, that when you finally do spam the mods will say, "we'll let them off with a warning"? Cause that is not how the mods here operate. Ask JohnnyD2 or whatever he was called (his shtick was thanking everyone in every thread). He posted for a couple weeks much like you are now doing, then he dropped his software spam and BAM! he was beaten with the banhammer!

Your fate shall be no different

His children are in two TV commercials at the moment and I always seem to catch them :(

So horrible.

WhiteRat May 23rd, 2010 02:28 AM

I'm watching Roseanne and her old ugly mom broke her pelvis while shtuuping.

Kitsa May 23rd, 2010 08:55 AM

I remember ten years ago, my mom said something about Steve Irwin to her Australian bosses and they were like, "Who?"

Zhukov May 23rd, 2010 09:31 AM

I'd never heard of him until he was on the news for being on the news in the USA.

He's been famous dead here longer than he was famous alive, if that makes sense. A national embarrassment.

Kitsa May 23rd, 2010 03:12 PM

Well, I like his general promotion of conservation and the fact that he used his revenue to buy huge tracts of land so that they could stay undeveloped, as wildlife sanctuaries. I like that.

I was a bit of an amateur herpetologist back in the day, when I was doing my biology undergrad, and I was always a little bewildered as to his methods. I always thought that some of the handling he did was more stressful to the animals than a tranquilizer dart or something might have been, but then I wasn't a respected owner of a zoo and he was. Still, I wonder how much the element of surprise figured into how he got by so often without being bitten.

Goes to show that it only takes one time to do you in, I guess.

Some sort of loophole must allow them to log/mine/destroy it irregardless, because apparently 'they' are still threatening it. Either that or it's a different loophole that allows the family to keep begging for money to save a place that is already supposed to be saved.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5VxkAX9jco&feature=fvw

Seriously, I only watch the news after work but I still get bombarded with this ad at least fifteen times a night.

Kitsa May 24th, 2010 08:28 AM

This might sound a bit culturally insensitive, but was he playing up his "australian-ness" for the Americans? Because I think that's what Paul Hogan did. The US concept of Australia is a little cartoonish and over-the-top.

We have a pseudo-Australian steakhouse chain here and I've read that the cooking is actually cajun and has very little to do with Australia. That doesn't stop them from printing up the menus with Aboriginal art and kangaroos, though. Usually, there is also a reference to a barbie and what you can throw on it.

Of course, Japan has been doing that with US culture for years.

Babs May 24th, 2010 02:50 PM
