this should probably be in comics, but:

If Magneto and Superman faced off, and Magneto used Adamantium to build a sphere around Superman, slowly compressing it, what would give first, the Adamantium, or the Man of Steel?

Mike P Jul 5th, 2006 10:20 PM

Considering how Magneto can't meld metal together, he can only control metal and its shape, the sphere would have many weak points. As such, Superman would just punch through it or use one of his myriad other powers.

Spooky Jul 5th, 2006 10:25 PM

ahem

Magnetokinesis: Magneto can shape and manipulate electro-magnetic fields that exist naturally or artificially, allowing him to lift and move heavy objects, control ferrous particles in the atmosphere, and even alter the Earth's magnetic field. It is unclear, however, whether he must draw magnetic force from outside himself (if so, then he can do so over vast distances).

Magneto's power is for all practical purposes limitless. Even before his rejuvenation, Magneto once lifted a cargo freighter weighing 30,000 tons 50 feet into the air from a distance of 300 feet away. With the primal forces of nature at his command, Magneto has stopped armies, raised islands from ocean floors, moved mountains and threatened to devastate the world with apocalypitc floods and earthquakes. Magneto once blanketed half the globe with a self-generated electro-magnetic pulse that caused widespread devasation. Although Magneto often gestures when using his magnetic powers, he can utilize them fully merely by concentrating.

he's on a godlike level right next to if not above superman. dont underestimate the guy. dont avoid the question: which would give first?

spooky :/ :/

Superman. He gets his power from the sun. So if he is in a adamantium Sphere, he will be blocked from the suns power. So he will most likely Run out of power before Magneto as there is no Light source.

Mike P Jul 6th, 2006 12:13 AM

I didn't avoid the question. I said that Magneto's sphere would give first.

Well, what kind of adamantium is it? Is it true adamantium or secondary adamantium? Second of all, where is Magneto getting all of this adamantium? It's a man-made metal, and extremely expensive to produce.

I think, in any case, Superman would be able to break out of the adamantium sphere before he suffered a loss of power. Not only that, but with the use of his various vision powers (namely microscopic and heat) he would be able to manipulate the adamantium and escape the sphere.

So you're not confused, Spooky: Magneto would give first.

Magneto stole the adamantium. :rolleyes

If Supes needs the sun for powers how did he go to kryptons remains for 5 years and survive?

I think SUperman would win, but what about other nearly godlike mutants, like Iceman, Juggernaut

OR SUPERMAN VS THE BLUE BEETLE, ARGUS, THE HItMAN, BOOSTER GOLD, AND LOOSE CANNON.

Marc Summers Jul 6th, 2006 03:25 AM

Juggernaut isn't a mutant. And movie Superman isn't the same as comics Superman. And movie Superman used his spaceship to travel through space.

Are we talking pre-Crisis or Post-Crisis or Post-Post-Crisis?
