Spriters needed!

Hi guys. :)

Sorry to bother you. But I need some help with my game project. I need spriters to create some spritesheets for my characters. Not edit maybe, but create from scratch. They're supposed to be 8-bit (and megaman style), so it'll be kinda easy for you. But I suck at it. :/

I got most of the game running, just one test level though. But the Megaman object i'm using can do what Megaman usually does: run, shoot, jump, slide. Not charge up though, that'll be for later on, heh heh. ;)

If you help your name will be in the credits of the game. And your help will be greatly appreciated. That much I can promise for now. I might sell the game, but i'll have to see how it goes later on.

If you're interested just let me know. And if you want, you can send some examples on your previous work.

Well, that's it.

Thanks.

Heh heh, I don't get it.

Stuff that runs the game, characters, and other things are "objects". The program i'm using uses object oriented programming. Megaman is an object. Here's an example:

I meant the joke and the wink.

Sorry, but crapping something out in Game Maker doesn't count as any kind of programming. :lol

Yeah, but it's good enough for me. I'ma lazy sonofabitch.
Besides, it's is technically programming, since it comes with scripting language, even though it also has "drag and drop" features. :)

EDIT: And I agree with you on that. I'd really want to start learning a professional language like Visual Basic or C+, so I can have more control over what I produce. But this is the best one out there for 2D and isometric games.

Ohhhh, I didn't mean that as a joke. I'm sorry. Heh heh.

Heh heh

I wouldn't try selling a game made with someone else's program, nor with a copyrighted character like Megaman, unless by "scratch" you meant you want entirely new characters. Assuming that you'd look up a bit of public interest for 'your' game, that'd be a great way of attracting the attention of hungry company lawyers.

I'd suggest you just use existing characters and release the game freely online. You can easily find complete spritesheets of many popular game characters. Or start ripping sprites yourself, and build your way to editing/making your own sprites.

From the help manual:
Game Maker can be used free of charge. And you can freely distribute the games you create with it; you can even sell them if you like. See the enclosed license agreement for more details.

I don't have a problem there. ^_^

Also, yes, I do mean entirely new characters. That's why I need artists. Anyone can just edit or copy a sprite.

Thanks for the heads-up though. :)

Chances are they want a plug in your game if you decide to sell it.

4. CREATED GAMES
================

Games you create with the Software you can use in
any way you like. No licence fee is required.
You are allowed to sell the games.

The full responsibility and liability for the
games created with the Software rests solely
with the creator of the game and not with the
author of the Software.

Stand-alone versions of games created with the
Software can be distributed without any licensing
fees. You are however not allowed to reverse
engineer or decompile these executable.

5. FURTHER REMARKS
==================

It is appreciated when you mention that GAME MAKER
was used to create the game you make, but this is
not required.

This license does not apply to the sprites,
backgrounds, or sounds provided. These are
not part of the program, but were taken
from freeware collection and were provided
for your convenience.

Yah but game maker is a crappy game engine.

And you still could get sued if you use any part of a megaman or any game that matter, wheter you edit a flamingo hat onto his head or any kind of alterations what so ever.

Considering that takes up most of the work and programming is a breeze comraed to it,I hardly think you are going to find anyone here who is going to draw you out a a whole game of graphics for you.

Seven Force Jul 29th, 2004 12:14 PM

Yeah, but it was worth a shot asking. I really needed help with that.

Worked for Tokai

Captain Goodtimes Jul 29th, 2004 02:14 PM

that actually looks pretty cool,

got a link to the game :(

Supafly345 Jul 29th, 2004 03:16 PM

This really is one of the boringest and unoriginal ideas that you could have concieved. Do something that hasn't been done. I would help if the game wasn't similar to megaman at all and featured me with jetpack headphones and grappling hooks for fingers.

Mockery Jul 29th, 2004 03:32 PM

Aren't you working on some rom hack version of megaman with Pickleman? Wasn't that supposed to be done by now?

Seven Force Jul 29th, 2004 04:22 PM

-Mockery-

I'm still waiting on UPC for the pickleman sprites.
Most of it is completed, though.
I think you'll be pleased with the results. :)
I'll have to keep them on the downlow for now. ;)

-Supafly345-

Alright, i'll add and take away some things that'll make the game new, and make it, um, new, I guess. That'll be easy.

And i'm not doing it cause you told me to, just cause it's a good idea. :conspiracy

I know a secret.

Want to know what it is?

This guy is a bullshitter! :eek

Seven Force Jul 29th, 2004 04:32 PM

Hi Chojin. :)

Anonymous Jul 29th, 2004 04:58 PM

Don't you talk to me.

Seven Force Jul 29th, 2004 05:05 PM

If you think i'm bullshiting, fine. That's your opinion. If I am, time will eventually tell. But I honestly can tell you that I haven't given up on it, and that the project is real. I've been away from my computer for the past three weeks, so I couldn't work on it. But i'm back now and i'm continuing to finish it. Cut me some slack. :P

Captain Goodtimes Jul 29th, 2004 05:17 PM
