It could be that the rom you have is corrupted in some way. Get another ROM or fix it with a utility. Zophar's Domain would be your best bet.

Also, what emulator are you using? What stage is this problem in? I'll probably need the filename of the rom too, unless you renamed it.

the ROM was downloaded, as was the emulator. I can't remember what it was called, but the scan rate was somehow incorrect, and I got a lot of flicker anywhere there was a sprite. Very annoying, as far as the level with the doom bikes, which are hard enough to pilot around those walls as it is.

I'll do some research and get back to you.
