I don't know why. It's so bad.

Royal Pains, like most USA originals, is an incredibly bland, milquetoast show. All you feel after watching it is a desire for your wasted time back :(

Kitsa Aug 9th, 2010 10:20 AM

True.

The writing. It's so bad.

Mad Melvin Aug 9th, 2010 05:44 PM

I just started watching "Oz" for the third time in my life. Last time was a few years ago. I still love this shit, even though it's just a gritty soap opera with some swinging dicks. Granted, the show goes downhill after the most badass character dies, but it's enjoyable to the bitter end. One of my favorite shows and the complete boxset was cheap as piss.

Esuohlim Aug 9th, 2010 06:15 PM

Dude I need to watch Oz. I have so much shit I need to watch and not enough time for it. It's almost criminal that I haven't gotten around to the Sopranos yet

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 10th, 2010 10:18 AM

I've been watching random episodes of Oz when its on but I'm trying to watch them all in order. I didn't know Beecher was also the guy with the dark red hair and z-chop sideburns with beard. He looks completely different.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Luckily, my holiday starts in a few days which allows me to catch up a bit. I'm thinking I should watch the second and third season of Deadwood or maybe watch Rome, which I haven't seen at all.

Beecher is the man. And Adebisi.

Dimnos Aug 10th, 2010 01:39 PM

Has anyone watched Rome? I only caught the first few episodes when it first aired and thought they were good.

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 10th, 2010 01:50 PM

I like Alvarez a lot too because he looks like my friend I haven't seen in a few years.

What guy is this?

Kitsa Aug 11th, 2010 05:36 AM

I finally got around to adding oz to my queue. Been wanting to watch it forever.

Kitsa Aug 12th, 2010 07:48 AM

Saw the Locked Up Abroad granddaddy-of-them-all edition, Billy Hayes doing a redux of his Midnight Express story. Hell, I thought that was the whole reason that show existed.

I liked that he was somewhat self-effacing and seemed to well realize just what an idiot he had been.

I disliked that he had told the story so often that I recognized sub-dialogues, turns of phrase and even tearful hesitations from other interviews. He'd just finely tuned the drama, that's all. It didn't seem as honest, but then the man's spent the entire rest of his life telling the same story over and over and over and over again, so what can you expect.

Jersey Shore season 2 is out. Mike "The situation", Pauly and Vinny had an MVP night but angelina wanted to come too. MVP were like "we gotta ditch her but how?" So they waited for her to turn her back and they 23 skidoo out the door.

One of those shows where you can't not watch it.

Esuohlim Aug 14th, 2010 03:46 PM

I get all the Jersey Shore I need from watching The Soup. It looks like it's beyond a complete trainwreck.

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 14th, 2010 04:10 PM

It's like a train roundhouse wreck.

This.

Fathom Zero Aug 15th, 2010 05:15 PM

I've heard of it.

Esuohlim Aug 15th, 2010 05:34 PM

Then you've already been corrupted

Fathom Zero Aug 15th, 2010 06:12 PM

Only figurative and literal shit comes out of Jersey, though. I'm not bothered.

Phoenix Gamma Aug 16th, 2010 12:06 AM

The roast of Hasselhoff. Jeffery Ross told his first good joke ever. "Hey Seth McFarlane. South Park called. They want their everything back."

Then he went back to being totally unlikable.

Sam Aug 16th, 2010 12:08 AM

You said he told a good joke. :(

Phoenix Gamma Aug 16th, 2010 03:00 AM

It seemed got at the time... :(
Maybe I just hate Seth way more than Jeffrey Ross.

What's worse is that I like Hasselhoff. And not an an ironic way. In an "I like Hasselhoff" way.

Esuohlim Aug 16th, 2010 03:09 AM

What was this year's joke to beat into the ground?

Phoenix Gamma Aug 16th, 2010 03:28 AM

I keep falling asleep and waking up during the next reairing :lol

The burger thing is coming up a lot. And not having a job. Actually the judges from America's got Talent had a video for him where they were just like "MAAAAAN IT'S AWESOME STILL BEING ON THIS SHOW AND HAVING BETTER RATINGS. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT 'NO JOB' THING." Even Hulk Hogan was making fun of Hoff not having a job. Which is the pot calling the kettle black if I've ever seen it (unless being in a reality show = employed).

Also, being popular in Germany = cheap and easy transition into a Holocaust joke. HEY GUYS HOW ABOUT THAT HITLER? I'M PRETTY EDGY HUH?

Dimnos Aug 16th, 2010 10:43 AM

What lameo told the Hitler joke?

Phoenix Gamma Aug 16th, 2010 11:20 AM

Lots of people went for Holocaust jokes. AW IF THEY PLAYED YOUR MUSIC THE JEWS WOULD HAVE RUN INTO THOSE INCINERATORS. Jeffery Ross had some thing about HEIL HASSLEHOFF or whatever. And a few others here and there.

Special award to Lisa Lampinelli for making the entire theater really uncomfortable by telling Pamela Anderson she's had more surgery than Roger Ebert! "IT'S A ROAST PEOPLE!" It's cancer ya bitch.

Sam Aug 17th, 2010 02:43 AM

Oh man, I would have laughed at that and I fucking HATE Lisa Lampinelli.

Ex Leper Aug 18th, 2010 07:32 PM

My favorite roaster so far other than Norm MacDonald at the Bob Saget roast is Giblert Gottfredd, to me he kills every time

Esuohlim Aug 18th, 2010 08:15 PM

I'll have to agree with you about Norm there, Sex Leper. His meta-humor at the Bob Saget roast was great and it was sort of a subtle fuck-you to Comedy Central and their stupid roasts.

But then again Norm MacDonald is awesome and he's just like Bill Murray in that he doesn't give a shit about what anyone thinks. I loved it when he was on Millionaire and he kept making snap decisions without thinking and Regis kept nagging him to actually give the questions some thought. Norm would have won the million of Regis didn't make him second-guess himself on the last question.

My wife is addicted that that shit. One episode I watched with her (I think from last season) the single mom dumped her baby on her mom then went out with her friends to meet some guy. She gets there and the guy she was so excited to meet just got on her ass about not being home with her baby and what is she doing out partying with friends so late. :lol Same girl whos mom beat the shit out of her for being a twat between seasons.

I saw that one. Her mom is ridiculous. I love/hate the one big guy on the show because between him and the girlfriend I don't know how they functioned enough to procreate. Did you see the episode on the beach where he's like "WANNA MARRY????" Then he gets down on his knee in the sand. Doesn't do anything for a minute......then brings out a ring from somewhere. It looked as if someone were directing him to do things but he wasn't really following what to do because he's an idiot.

Dimnos Aug 19th, 2010 02:44 PM

No cant say I caught that one. Although my wife was telling me about one where that guy told that fat chick that he needed to be single for a weekend because there was this girl he was interested in. :lol

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 19th, 2010 03:09 PM

:lol Oh man. I have a special karate chop waiting for him.

Dimnos Aug 19th, 2010 03:47 PM

Doesnt she beat him up regularly and laugh about it?

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 19th, 2010 04:36 PM

Yeah, they're both dum dums. Speaking of which....new Jersey Shore episode tonight. As bad as these shows are and the idiots who are on them are I always feel better about my own life.

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 23rd, 2010 11:24 AM

Finally got season 2 of True blood in the mail. Watched the first two episodes. Lafayette has the most ridiculous lines.

I love how they have Ryan O'Reilly doing Allstate commercials right now and he's impersonating a teenage girl driving wrecklessly in a parking lot. He's like "OMG, Kara's hair turned out bad. Let's go shopping" with a vicious tone in his voice.

Kitsa Sep 4th, 2010 06:41 PM

That's him? I thought he looked vaguely familiar.

Most of the cast of Oz seemed vaguely familiar anyway. My brother got a kick out of Juno's dad making someone his bitch.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 5th, 2010 07:26 PM

I'm used to seeing him as J Jonah Jameson in the spider man movies. Then I saw him rape the shit out of Beetcher in Oz and was like "Oh Shit!". Then he called that alabisi guy a ******.

Fuck allstate by the way. Also..fuck state farm.

Mad Melvin Sep 8th, 2010 06:53 PM

I'm now halfway trough season 4 in Oz. The show isn't as great as I remembered. The first two seasons were outstanding but season 3 was kinda weak in comparison. The fourth season is still ok, but there are some things I thought were just retarded.

Still, damn fine show compared to the shit that's on the TV nowadays.

I watched "Terriers" today. Seems decent enough.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 9th, 2010 03:02 PM

Terriers looked kind of good.

My gf was watching REBA while I was doing some manstuff. Reba freaked out because the baby's blankie was misplaced and she was all like "Oh no! We have to find the baby's blankie because she's not going to be able to sleep. Blankie's are like its Scotch."

I was laughing pretty hard.

Esuohlim Sep 9th, 2010 03:54 PM

Is Daria a good show? The whole series is today's Amazon Gold Box deal for 26.99, so I bought it on a whim. It seems like one of those better-for-nostalgic-reasons type shows, but at least I can sell it back for more than twice the price if I don't like it

Dimnos Sep 9th, 2010 05:37 PM

I always thought of it as the Beavis and Butthead for tween girls.

Esuohlim Sep 9th, 2010 05:39 PM

then it's perfect

The Doctor Sep 9th, 2010 06:26 PM

I always thought Janeane Garofalo would have played a live action version of the show.

Dimnos Sep 10th, 2010 01:52 PM

Yeah its about as interesting as she is.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 13th, 2010 03:39 PM

I didn't like Jeneane Garafolo until Wet Hot American Summer. Now I like her.

Looking forward to Boardwalk Empire on HBO. Setting is in Atlantic City during Prohibition starring Steve Buschemi as a beer baron of sorts.

Kitsa Sep 14th, 2010 06:50 PM

If it's HBO, does that mean we get Steve Buscemi full frontal?

Dimnos Sep 15th, 2010 04:56 PM

That could be a deal breaker. :lol

Esuohlim Sep 15th, 2010 09:20 PM

SO I JUST WATCHED A COUPLE EPISODES OF NEW DOCTOR WHO

Dimnos Sep 16th, 2010 11:01 AM

Did you get treated to some gay dalek action?

Esuohlim Sep 16th, 2010 11:06 AM

Daleks are little pussy garbage cans. I couldn't believe it when I first saw one

Dimnos Sep 16th, 2010 02:14 PM

Yes but did you see the rainbow colored ones? :lol

Tadao Sep 16th, 2010 05:08 PM

New Sunny was kinda funny. The premier of The League was so much better though.

Tadao Sep 17th, 2010 12:46 PM

It was ok, I didn't watch the League.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 17th, 2010 01:08 PM

You should. I don't care for fantasy football at all but the comedy is pure gold.

Dimnos Sep 23rd, 2010 04:32 PM

I just cant take this guy seriously.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 23rd, 2010 05:06 PM

I liked Daria at the time because they featured good music. Not sure if it the music made it to DVD or not. Maybe the cake song did.

Esuohlim Sep 23rd, 2010 05:38 PM

Supposedly all the music was replaced by cover versions. But as someone who never watched it I wouldn't know the difference.

People have the same complaints about The State release. The only people who don't have problems with it are people who never saw it during its original run.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 23rd, 2010 06:54 PM

I did notice they changed some things with the state but not enough to make it unwatchable.

I thought Craig Wedren did a good job re-scored the entire thing. It would cost MTV more then it did to film these shows entire run to pay for all the music again. I know it sucks but If your desperate to see them again, it's worth it. I was 5 when The State was on so I wasn't allowed to enjoy MTV when it was enjoyable. So I don't mind as much, other then the sketches where posters & pictures of bands were blurred.

Kitsa Sep 24th, 2010 04:19 PM

Just got seasons 1 and 2 of oz, dvd sets, and will hopefully watch till my eyeballs bleed.

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 24th, 2010 04:46 PM

I have an OZ question because I missed a weeks worth of episodes and certain people died.

Kitsa Sep 24th, 2010 07:46 PM

I've only gotten to the end of season 1 disc 2 so I'm probably not the person to ask at this point. The sad thing is I can buy and receive them faster on ebay than renting them on netflix :(

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 25th, 2010 08:51 AM

Watched Boardwalk Empire last night. This show is awesome. Steve Buschemi is top notch. Music is great. Vernacular is spectacular.

Kitsa Sep 25th, 2010 09:17 AM

Was atlantic city portrayed approximately as gross as it is irl?

Zhukov Sep 25th, 2010 10:54 AM

10,000 Volt Ghost Sep 25th, 2010 11:00 AM

Zhukov: Adibisi.....
Spoilers!

Kitsa:
It takes place during the 1930's so everything is kinda gritty. Gritty awesome though.

captain516 Sep 26th, 2010 03:46 AM

I saw the pilot for Raising Hope and it was good. I just hope they won't rely on baby humor too often.

Kitsa Sep 26th, 2010 07:17 AM

Just finished up Oz season 1 last night and I can't say I was really thrilled with the final two episodes. They stalled and then tried to wrap things up too quickly, I thought.

I lol'd at "salami I like 'em", though. I just can't figure out why the guy was so transfixed by him at the end there.

Which is ironic considering I made fun of Zhukov for liking a Daria character once.

I'm also going through DVDs of How I Met Your Mother which on the surface seemed like a typical shitty laughtrack sitcom but in actuality is waaaaaaay better, and contains Arrested Development-levels of callbacks and continuity (and a lot of it subtle)

That's exactly how I picture it from the commercials. :(

MarioRPG Sep 27th, 2010 04:10 PM

How I Met Your Mother is surprisingly good. It even has Manos references.
Boardwalk Empire is continuing to kick ass, but that may just be Buscemi / 1920s love.
Dexter's season opener was kind of bland. Not terrible. But not great.

Tadao Sep 27th, 2010 04:44 PM

Dexter started? Cool, I better check the torrents.

Esuohlim Sep 27th, 2010 04:44 PM

HIMYM shouldn't have the laugh track, since they don't film in front of an audience anyway so it's not like the pacing is suffering as a result like most laugh track shows.

It starts out somewhat generic and I didn't like it at first, but once the show hits its stride it really is something great. It kind of sucks that it's syndicated on the Lifetime channel, though, that's also a great way to turn new audiences off to it >:

Kitsa Sep 27th, 2010 07:52 PM

Started in on Oz season 2 and I'm not liking it nearly as much as season 1 so far. :(
