seriously though epsxe runs ffvii, viii, and ix just fine.

all right maybe not JUST fine but if you use in-game saves rather than emulator save-states you should be fine. you can get all the games from snesorama forumz.

and of course v and vi are worth playing on an snes emulator. a lot of people love iv but i hated that one.

iii is good on the nes ALSO.

Esuohlim Jan 15th, 2012 02:00 AM

Yeah, I actually did download epsxe with FF7 and then spent like 20 minutes calibrating the settings to make it run as ok as possible. Haven't started it yet but I know it'll be ready when I want to

kahljorn Jan 15th, 2012 02:34 AM

there's a few websites you can goto that will usually tell you what settings/plugins to use to make a game work right

The SNES emulator on my Dreamcast is slow, and it makes me sad. I can play Final Fight without it being too bad, but even that has noticeable lag.

I love the hell out of V. :rock Although when I watched a video of some guy playing it they abused one of the abilities that I never even used.

Pentegarn Jan 22nd, 2012 08:44 AM

if memory serves 5 was the easiest of the games to abuse if you just took the time to build the right classes

I wish willie was still here to see what I just made using a enemy sprite one of my co-workers had lying around.

kahljorn Jan 22nd, 2012 07:12 PM

Nick Jan 22nd, 2012 11:54 PM

Here's the original one.

All sorts of neat shit is going in this game that I wish I could show you guys. Thankfully the project lead posted these two on twitter.

Here are some released screen shots as well.

Hey, I've got a PS3 now! What games should I get?

I've already purchased Valkyria Chronicles and Red Dead Redemption. Keep in mind that if something's available on PC, I'll probably just get it there instead. Also keep in mind that I don't give a flying shit about Uncharted and never will.

Pentegarn Apr 18th, 2012 11:17 AM

Metal Gear Soild 4?

Guitar Woman Apr 18th, 2012 11:21 AM

Hell no, not after 2 and 3. It's like my best friend led me into an alley and raped me, twice.

Pentegarn Apr 18th, 2012 11:26 AM

Most stuff on PS3 you can get on other formats as well, but here is a list of PS3 exclusives

Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best of the series. You suck guitar woman. You suck and your opinions are always wrong. The fourth MGS is pretty bad though, i'll give you that.

As for recommendations, get Heavy Rain. You'll propably hate it.

Dr. Boogie Apr 19th, 2012 02:36 AM

Get Sengoku Basara. Probably the best take on a Dynasty Warriors-type game to date.

Also, Yakuza 3 and 4. Dead Souls, maybe.

And Demon's Souls. Get it before they shut down the multiplayer servers in May.

OxBlood Apr 20th, 2012 04:26 AM

Sengoku Basara is fucking awesome indeed. Way better that Dynasty Warriors...

Also, Infamous is a nice series. Though Prototype is my preferred Power-Fantasy.
How about Forbidden Siren, that one´s at least interesting.

Also skip the whole Killzone and Resistance Franchises, they´re boring as hell and bad Shooters to begin with.

Why the beef with Uncharted?

Dr. Boogie Apr 22nd, 2012 07:26 PM

I can't speak for anyone else, but I was never a fan of the core gameplay, which is just boring cover-based shooting, plus some mediocre puzzles and vehicle sections.

Not really a beef, it just doesn't seem interesting to me. Generic video game protagonist gets in lots of pop-up shootouts while chasing some blonde with a weird face and waiting for Dan Brown to come knocking with his resume. Not a game I'd play through more than once, right?

I think Tomb Raider 1 is still my Indiana Jones ripoff game of choice, and Uncharted won't really have shit on it unless it's got a haunting, lonely atmosphere and is deeply traumatising to any 7-year-olds who happen to play it.

Phoenix Gamma Apr 27th, 2012 08:34 PM

Uncharted isn't about being spooky. It's about "I'm gonna jump over hereFUCKSHITOHGODDAMMITCOCKS".

The Tomb Raider reboot actually looks pretty awesome from what I read about it.

Guitar Woman Apr 27th, 2012 10:18 PM

I know it's not about being spooky but every game about plundering the ancient dead really should be

actually every game ever should be scary because that's the best kind of game

Esuohlim Apr 27th, 2012 10:23 PM

Every time you get four lines in Tetris a ghost goes "BOO!" :eek

OxBlood Apr 29th, 2012 09:25 AM

No, every time you get a tetris, there´s a chance of you getting a glimpse at the soul-furnace the player really operates. The souls of the dead, forced into geometrical shapes, fuelling the ancient Undying beings on their thrones of carnage and despair.

What? Don´t tell me you never read the story behind Tetris ;)

zerothree Apr 29th, 2012 12:03 PM

Wait a minute, you mean Tetris wasn't a metaphor for communist Russia?
