Kickass 2

So I was a major fan of the Kickass movie. It was my favorite example of real life super heros. It's was dark, funny and had a clever premises. After I saw the movie I went and read the comic, which was equally amazing.

Well recently I learned that Kickass 2 is currently in production. This revelation lead me to my local comic book store where I purchased every volume of the Kickass 2 comic. I went into it exspecting another romp into the life of an amature hero but what I got instead was a very dark and twisted revenge tale with a cliffhanger ending. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of dark and twisted but this comic steps it up a level from its predecessor in drastic ways.

Without reveling to much from the comic it's safe to say they pulled no punches in making Kickass 2 edgey. In one scene Red Mist (who has choose to go by the alias "Mother Fucker" now) ask children in a nice suburb for directions. The children light up with glee when they see him and his pack of costume clad villans only to be gunned down at point blank range after confusing him for a hero. This is just an example but there are many more controversial scenes littering this comic.

After a little research I learned that the Kickass 2 movie is going to try to stick as closely to the source material as possible. This has me kinda worried and excited at the same time. With the first movie they changed only minor details but it was enough set its self apart from its comic book counter part. Maybe I'm just being critical but I don't think it's necessary to have a scene where "super villans" rape a girl in thier costumes next to her dead dad. I may be wrong about that but I suppose only time can tell. Any opinions?

Only changed a little in the original movie? You mean by having him GET the girl and FLY AROUND ON A JETPACK?

Oh, and the twist ending about Big Daddy being COMPLETELY LEFT OUT?

Ya but those where the biggest changes and none of them (except maybe him getting the girl) fundamentally changed the movie. I would have loved to seen them leave the Big Daddy twist in and ditched the jet pack. The end of the Kickass 2 comic kinda touches on him dealing with the moral deliema of murdering someone, which means fuck all to the movie because hes already killed at least 3 people in the first movie. You can't get everything you want though.

Wasn't it something like instead of him getting the girl the girl blew some other guy in front of him or something.

John leguizamo is going to be in kickass2 the movie so thats enough for me to watch it.

It was more or less like that in the comic.

Spoilers!

I always thought the cocaine thing should have been left in the movie. It would of been better than dumbass jet pack nonsense.

Oh and Jim Carry is playing a character that is completely out of the norm for him. He's the leader of the group of heros and is very serious in tone. I am pretty sure they will add a lot more comedy to his role to make it feel more him. Kinda like Nicholas Cage added a lot more of his signature crappy acting to Big Daddy, but hey it worked so I'm not bitching.

Quick question. Did big daddy get set on fire in the comic our did cage add that part.

kahljorn Oct 19th, 2012 01:14 PM

THATS HOW HE TURNS INTO GHOST RIDER

TheNunEater Oct 19th, 2012 03:06 PM

Nope that was all some Cage goodness. They just put a bullet in head in the comic. I know they just put the fire scene in there to display his awful acting to the fullest. Movie directors love giving him scenes that beg for him to overact in. Case in point, the entire The Wicker Man movie. No not bees, not the bbeeeesssss! Only movie he didn't completely destroy was Face Off
