I tried smoking salvia to take my mind of cigarettes, to smoke something, and to make a psychedelic breakthrough, but with a normal lighter it doesn't work, and with a torch lighter my bowl starts telling me she knows the Bic and how unreliable it is.
ive heardpeople say you gotta use SPECIAL LIghtERS or millions of other magical things to get high on salvia but when i did it i just smoked like two bowls in a row really fast with a normal lighter

Guitar Woman Aug 20th, 2010 07:21 PM

it also just sucks

Esuohlim Aug 20th, 2010 07:27 PM

two bowls of saliva sounds gross

the new msn messenger in beta is pretty sweet. it automatically appears you offline to everyone when you change your status, but then you can click on an IM window and you automatically appear online to whichever people you feel like talking to. so you get to block people without actually blocking them and with no effort. :)

Tadao Aug 21st, 2010 01:51 AM

IS THAT WHY I NEVER SEE YOU ON MSN?

I'm going to the largest fair in the area in a few...same one as the "SEE THE STRANGE THING" booth. You could all chip in via Paypal toward the dollar admission, I'd see the strange thing and report back.

Grislygus Aug 22nd, 2010 07:30 PM

yeeeeeeeeah my boxes of Baccarats and h. upmans arrived today, and the chat thread is already talking about smoking

who else around here loves cigars?

except gw. if you like cigars, i just KNOW you'll go on and on about some mediocre crap like romeo and juliets (except actually referring to them as ROMEO Y JULIETTA) until you discover Punch and Arturo Fuentes and think that no one else knows about "your" two new brands

Grislygus Aug 22nd, 2010 07:34 PM

except that you're probably one of the many cigarette smokers that hold their noses and roll their eyes whenever cigars are mentioned, in which case your input is welcomed

Grislygus Aug 22nd, 2010 07:59 PM

I'm just kidding, no one else should give a shit about cigars

everyone SHOULD give a shit about the return of MrAdventure!

Started moving into my on-campus apartment yesterday and met one of the other two roommates. The apartment's really kinda dull, but hopefully it'll look nicer as we all finish moving in. My mom was pissed, though; we went into me and my friend's room so I could unpack my bed stuff, and my roommate from last year was laying in the other bed with her boyfriend. After we left my mom was going on about how inconsiderate my roommate was, but really, it's to be expected in college...

Zhukov Aug 23rd, 2010 08:02 AM

Yes but manners don't cost a thing.

Kitsa Aug 23rd, 2010 08:03 AM

most college-age manners issues stem from misguided "HEY LOOK I'M TOTALLY A GROWNUP NOW" bs.

Fathom Zero Aug 23rd, 2010 09:36 AM

It's terrible here, but it is everywhere. People'll be be the same from the time they're four until they're working some dead-end job. College is the same as high school is the same as a career.

Zhukov Aug 23rd, 2010 10:10 AM

No self respect, for one thing.

You could have suggested to Mom that she take some pictures of the happy couple to put up on her blog if she really felt that upset about it. It would have been a teaching moment for both Mom and your ex-roomie.

elx Aug 23rd, 2010 04:00 PM

the spanish class i'm taking this semester is costing $540 in required materials. it's absurd that they don't tell us this stuff before we register. really, for that amount i could just buy rosetta stone and hire myself a mexican nanny. :(

elx Aug 23rd, 2010 04:00 PM

bability is bananas, double posting is super cool

10,000 Volt Ghost Aug 23rd, 2010 04:06 PM

lol, I thought it said "HIRE MYSELF A MEXICAN ARMY"

elx Aug 23rd, 2010 04:07 PM

so the average full time student is paying about $1,000 in book fees per semester...but that's not so bad compared to art students that have to pay double that with the required work materials :lol

Esuohlim Aug 23rd, 2010 04:13 PM

Just torrent your books :ROLLEYES

Also you're only paying that much if you buy from bookstores. Go online and you'll probably pay less than half that

RaNkeri Aug 23rd, 2010 04:18 PM

1000$ in book fees? Per semester? What the fuck

Dimnos Aug 23rd, 2010 04:42 PM

Amazon :rolleyes

Kitsa Aug 23rd, 2010 05:29 PM

I used to cry after I bought my med school textbooks. But that was back when campus email was a novelty, let alone that wacky thing called the internet :(

I remember Grolier's Multimedia Encyclopedia on CD-Rom blowing my fucking mind when I started high school.

Seriously. It's fucking ridiculous. All my books this semester are about $200 each at the bookstore.

And Amazon is the shit. On there they're like 60 bucks each

Fathom Zero Aug 23rd, 2010 06:40 PM

The only book I'm buying is my ~$100 French. I've only bought one book since I started school last year.

:lol

Esuohlim Aug 23rd, 2010 07:14 PM

The worst is when you get a professor who wrote the book. He sells an online version that you have to pay to download, and you have to turn in the receipt and order number or you fail the class, preventing people from pitching in on one download and making copies. Shit's fucked up

Tadao Aug 23rd, 2010 08:09 PM

It'll be worth it all though. Not only will it help you get a job, your job will be in the profession you are studying for!

Esuohlim Aug 23rd, 2010 08:14 PM

I had one professor who demanded we buy a BRAND FUCKING NEW PDR every time it came out. And carry it to class. And we barely used it.

PICTURED ACTUAL SIZE

It was one of the first things I ever put on a credit card because on my wages I could never buy it outright.

The biggest kick in the teeth was the book buyback table across from the bookstore, where they'd look at the perfect-condition $300 book you'd just bought a few WEEKS before, in some cases, and tell you they'd give you $2 for it.

Zhukov Aug 24th, 2010 07:31 AM

Hahaha.

I actually have read all my text books from my time at university. I had interest in my subjects, and I still have them all.

They weren't that expensive, either. Every so often we would have to buy a collection of print outs in a binder for a couple of bucks.

Life was good.

Because the prof wanted you to buy it BRAND SPANKING NEW, the people at the buyback table knew there was no market for even a slightly used copy.

If you still have it, you could probably sell it on half.com for .... well, about half the current market price. :\

Kitsa Aug 24th, 2010 05:24 PM

I always figured PDRs are always pretty much useless if they're not the current year. I got rid of all mine as soon as I was out of school. As a matter of fact, I only kept a couple of physiology texts, a really cool anatomy text that was basically a picture book of real cadavers, and some paperback general medicine text. Oh...and "Where There Is No Doctor" and "Where There is No Dentist", because you never know when you'll need to make a treadle dental drill out of tin can scraps.

It all depends - I saw a lot of editions on half.com for anywhere from $0.75 to $30. However, as you mentioned, the point is moot. :\

Kitsa Aug 24th, 2010 09:18 PM

Yep. And I watched all that M*A*S*H, too :/

Today, I was taking photographs of my mother's garden and accidentally stepped on an anthill. My shoes filled with angry ants, and now my feet are puffy and itchy. FML.

kahljorn Aug 24th, 2010 09:24 PM

today i was looking at a tree while waiting for the bus and i noticed there was a hole in it and it looked weird on the inside so i stuck my hand in and touched it and there was like a bunch of really soft dirt and i moved it all around :(

turns out it was an ant nest or some shit cause like 2 minutes later there was a thousand panicked ants everywhere.

Babs Aug 25th, 2010 01:55 AM

Nope, that was my ass.

kahljorn Aug 25th, 2010 01:58 AM

your ass is dirty and your body is very treelike ;/ though slender.

ALSO THE WEED I GOT TODAY FOR TEN BUCKS IS RIDICULOUS ;/
