We've gone only about a state away for bands, but saw Green Day in B-Mo (B-Mo arena), Rolling Stones & Bob Dylan & Paul Simon in Pennsylvania (Hershey Park), and ~*Oasis*~ in Virginia (Nissan Pavilion), to name a few big ones :<
As for people I've seen at Merriweather than I can remember: The Allman Brothers & Metallica. But I've been there at least twice before for other homos.
