Bottom line, protesters do things that are often intended to be an obstruction. I know, I've been one on numerous occasions. Max, you're right that assassins could merely pretend to be supporters, but that doesn't necessarily mean you should allow everyone screaming violent obscenities at the man up close.
Heck, if protesters were smart, they'd come with pro-bush signs, and then flip them when he drives by.
