I spent the morning watching the proceedings for this on C-Span (Senate). The panel they had reviewing the findings seemed bored and impatient, and while I found it somewhat interesting, I don't grudge them that.
Apparantly the the DOD and Customs are playing hot potato with responsibility over whom should have taken note that the combination of equipment sold (the centrifuge machine, incubator et al) could have had terroristic intent.
The real gem in all of this is that the Homeland Security Office says they hadn't been given enough information by either department to have acted, but they really would have if they'd had all the facts. I'm sure glad Bush has increased our intra-office communication network.
