I got dragged into it by an ex who was in love with the movies and books.
And yes, I tried to get into it by reading the books beforehand, but I could only get as far as the beginning of
Return of the King, or whatever the hell it's called, before I finally called it quits. The worst thing was, the first two books took me about three months to get through, and I'm a pretty fast reader.
I'm not knocking LOTR fans, but I just don't get the appeal of it.
