It's a Danziger cartoon. A typical CNN type journalist is in a trench with some soldiers, holding a microphone up to them. Bullets are whizzing by at head level. She's asking them what they think of the Michael jackson Scandal.

It's not the viewpoint that makes it funny. It let you ;get' the joke. That's what joke is. Statements may be true or false or something in between but they're just statements.
