Well when I can make the monitor work, the machine doesn't beep, which is what makes me think it's the monitor. Ummm....not really sure what type of system it is, do you mean like Mac or PC? cos it's a PC, I know that much offhand...
Oh, and the pattern of the beeping is one longer beep, then two short beeps really quick after it
