We have known about and tolerated the UN's shoddy, corrupt handling of the oil for food program through three US presidents.
You know why suddenly it's a scandal? Because W. desperately needs to fire a preemptive strike against gathering opinion that we should beg the UN to take over in Iraq.
Here's the problem. If W. succeeds in making the UN look like as bad an option for administering Iraq as we are, he'll have to start taking swipes at NATO.
