No, we are stuck on the idea that the United States is a deliberative society, built upon layers and branches of government that check each other, and at times hinder the wants and desires of the others. We are an imperfect government/society, and that's a

You should read some Machiavelli. What the hell would prevent a merc military from turning on us? If their only allegiance is to the highest bidder, how can they truly defend the United States Constitution....?
