A lot of the things that are biting us in the ass relatively recently (Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, ect) are, directly or indirectly, a result of the things perpetrated by his administration. Even so, he had a very charismatic television persona and he was an intelligent and believable public speaker. He was kind of hard not to like if you didn't know anything about his policies.
