They skipped MKII and went straight to number 3 for Annihilation, and 4 didn't have any of the regular characters, so either they're making up a new story or this movie will be based on Deadly Alliance. If that's the case, Johnny Cage is supposed to be resurrected anyway.
Whether or not Christopher Lambert makes a good Rayden, he's still cool enough to deserve any role in any movie ever. Though Connor probably won't seem very immortal comparing the first Highlander and the new one.
