BONE by Jeff Smith is an excellent series (it's wrapping up, I believe). You can buy the trade paperbacks which consist of about six issues each. The artwork is B&W, but it's very good. I have all of the books so far... the old issues are super expensive.
You should also check out the new Conan comics. They are also awesome.
