When I used to have the problem, some good old-fashioned Carcass or Obituary, louder than the original noise, usually was a good technique. The "Mirror Mirror" modus operandi is effective and a significant saving of words and energy.

And even if it doesn't work, at least you managed to envelop the disturbing noise beneath another sound you choose.

This is a viable option only if you live in a civilized country were people can't buy guns, though.

Anyway, alternative options: ear plugs, a smile and some diplomacy, or guns.
