Max is great because he makes fun of people indirectly.
See, the people make asses of themselves in the process of responding to his trite, asinine 'internet insults,' and the joke's largely on them. The same goes for his supporters, because they all appreciate him for the fake 'internet hardass' persona he puts on to carry out the set-up insults, and anyone who genuinely enjoys company like that already is just as big a joke as the character.
He's making fun of all of you, and you're all too stupid to realize it. And I'm stupid for thinking he's great. So he wins. Guys.
