I think there's a chunk of Republican's out there who know this was mistake.

You either have to be stupid as hell or in denial. There are Republicans who are neither.

I don't know if that's enough to make them vote against Bush, or just stay home and not vote, or if there are enough of them to make a difference, but I think there are a sizable number of them out there.
