Zombies are also notorious for bieng able to take alot of shots without going down. i would say a 2 second spray from a mac10 should do the trick but to use the same ammout of bullets with a semi auto would probably take about 10 seconds... mabey more. (mac10 has a fire rate of around 1200 rpm).
i guess the best thing would be an mp5 with fire mode selector as you would be able to use semi auto if ammo was runnign low or you needed to be accurate, 3 round burst for close range, accurate face shooting and full auto for when there are like 10 zombies comming at you fast. Also the Mp5 can be equiped with a larger 50round drum magazine. The only disadvantage is the 9mm rounds it uses.
