Mostly Peaceful
I don't know how many of you actually saw this "demonstration"
It was all that was on the local news last night. I swear it got more air time than the war they were protesting.....
The demonstrators were trying to get onto the bay bridge so they could sit and stop traffic. During rush hour. This is a major problem in SF. Protestors do this all the f'n time and it really pisses me off. This is not a good way to make your point. This is a good way to piss people off.
The SF police did a wonderful job in keeping the people off the bridge and maintaining some sort of control over an extremely disorganized and unruly (sp) mob. The protestors for the most part were peaceful (though annoying blocking traffic in busy intersections) and the arrests were in no way unusual. (at least from what has been in the news)
My favorite scene from yesterday......an SF officer being hit with thrown items and and a piece of what appeared to be PVC pipe. He simply pushed the people away from himself. No extreme violence. No brutality. And no arrests.
I have to give a big thumbs up to the completely outnumbered officers who did an excellent job yesterday.
