Nice rumor, only problem is that most car manufacturing plants run 24/7 production-wise. And honestly the way those poor bastards are overworked it would make more sense to say 'don't buy a car that came at the end of the 2nd and 3rd shift, otherwise you might get shoddy workmanship!'
Here's a better idea for buying cars: don't buy new, read Consumer Reports to check any possible defects and problems, and generally avoid subcompacts and SUVs because they suck in accidents. Enjoy.
